It is no problem to find great guitarist on the internet. Very few people are great TEACHERS. Two very different talents. You have both. Thanks for all you do.
I learned about the 1, 4, and 5 chords in guitar class in high school. Our teacher wasnt a guitar player he was a pianist and he was damn good. Mr. Ton was his name , he was great. He showed us a lot of music theory on piano and i tried hard to translate it to guitar and struggled with fully grasping the concept. Revisiting the subject with you here (which is also where i learned almost everything about guitar in high school) everything makes total sense and gives me inspiration to learn my scales so i can start improvising my own songs and having more variety in the music i play. You're the best dude , thank you!
The fact that your put out this much work is absolutely incredible. Thank you for making this easier to understand. I always wondered how people knew what chords to play in each scale.
When you just simply played the G major scale notes after playing chords , it sounded so melodious, it didn't sound like just playing notes (like we do in practice)...I love your work...
The only thing I don't like about Justin is that I don't have enough time to watch and absorv all he teaches. What a fantastic teacher! Never tired of listening to you even if I don't have the guitar nearby. Thanks for continuing producing great content!
Thanks Justin! Inspiring lesson. I'm trying to follow each session... like the one that follows this one, etc. Instead of jumping all over the place. I think each sequence builds on the previous one. A better way for me to learn. Peace, Bill

Thanks Justin. I’m a 44 year old who just recently took up playing the guitar and I’d have to say , for me personally yourself and Marty Swartz are my favourite teachers and those who I’ve gelled with most when it comes to learning technique and songs. I’m greatful for you both.
Thank you, Justin! You are the best teacher on the interweb. You explain things very well and the little light bulb in my head went off. It just clicked with me in this lesson. Now I'm off to do some practice. Thanks again for everything you do! Cheers!

You can substitute the 5 chord dominant 7 for the 7 diminished (or half-diminished) because, like the diminished, it naturally leads back to the root chord.
Hi Justin. I have been playing for years but never seriously. Just picked up the guitar once or twice a month for the most part. I never really got past just strumming and singing out of tune and out of time. I'm excited about your videos and finally I'm taking the time to learn to do it well, hopefully with your help. When I am recording a background guitar rhythm track (lets say in the Key of G) Should I be starting each main section of the song with a chord named after the Key Note? I mean, should the first chord played in the intro, verse or chorus start with the G Chord if I am in the Key of G? Or.... when you say that the chords that belong in that key can be juggled around, is that including the very first chord you play in the song too? So, you could start a song by playing an Em chord and it could still be considered to be in the key of G as long as all the other chords are part of the chord grouping for that Key?
Hi Justin, love all your videos but as I am just a novice, should I just concentrate on your beginners course. I'm slightly confused. What is a looper?
It's a device that makes you record a piece of music. You can then make it repeat that piece all over again. You can record some chords on it and let it endlessly repeat it for you to jam over. Hey Justin :) would you advise doing your beginner course alongside your theory course on the website? I’m currently on the “stuck fingers” songs (e.g wonderwall)
Maybe finish the beginner course and start intermediate before the music theory course. The music theory course is great, there's a lot of scales and chord theory, but also a bit on minor scales and modes. Learn some songs and practice them, then go back to music theory. I hope that helps 😃🔰
