She was worse and Rose too.
One of my favorite Sofia moments is when Blanche, Rose, and Dorothy were in the kitchen one night scarfing down one of Rose’s St. Olaf concoctions while holding their noses. Sofia wanders in and says, “Hey, gimme a break, you can’t smell that from the hall!” 😂😂

I remember that one episode where Dorothy told her "You are a horrible little person" when she pretended that Rose's husband' spirit has possessed her body! It was funny but definitely mean
Yes! Oh that episode really gets me. I think that is one of the few times she may have been outright cruel.
Though what was really funny is that when Dorothy threatened to send Sophia back to Shady Pines; Sophia tries to outfox her by saying that it wasn't too bad. But Dorothy is one step ahead of her by saying that she "heard they sold Shady Pines to some Germans."
She was given lines to say that would have been TOTALLY rude and unacceptable for the other 3 ladies, but as she played an old, sometimes senile lady, she got by with it
Her stroke affected the part of her brain that filters what she says.. So, whatever comes up, comes out..😂😂😂...

I remember reading someplace about Estelle Getty having incredible stage fright on the set. She was afraid of messing up her lines.... Hard to believe since her delivery of every line was so perfect and precise. I think her zingers were the best of any show tbh Lol

The oldest on the set was actually Rose (Betty White) and she's the only one still alive. She will be 100 years old on January 17th in approx three weeks ...
Edit: Unfortunately, she died today (31.12.2021), may she rest in peace .
