Someone hooked a large tarpon there yesterday afternoon. One jump and the fish spooled his reel filled with 50 lb braid. He was fishing between the 1st and 2nd squares, facing North. Bait was a free-lined large grunt. He was on vacation from Indiana.
@@FishOnChannel I was in the water by the jetty last Friday and there were a lot of snook schooling in the area. Not big ones, but males around 3-4 lbs.
May I ask ; the high pitched whining as you reel in the fish..... My older reels don't sound like that & I'm just wondering if these newer reels are just so tight/the gears so precise that that's the sound as reel them in? And none of the fish thru the first 7 mins are really big enough to strip line so I don't think it's the drag? What is that sound, anyone know? peace & fun to see a "Fish On" ! peace
Yes, I used to have an assortment of different brands/sizes of reels - long ago, lol! I've noticed this high pitched sound in other videos as well but I'm just now asking you about it since I'm newly "subb'd up". I do think as newer metal alloys are created & the tolerances of the gears gets more precise, the reel makes its own sound as you turn the handle. It's almost like an, "audio fingerprint". I'm sorry to get sidetracked but the costs of a decent reel is not cheap as you very well know - that said, I'm asking before I buy anything & you are the man to ask ! Thanks for posting / peace
Hey buddy it's me Vinny really enjoyed this episode was really good specially when you fish at fort desoto it's so much fun fishing at fort desoto cuz you never know what you'll catch😊😊😊🎉
I’ve noticed catching snapper this year has been tough. Somehow I’ve been catching more grouper than snapper which doesn’t make sense to me. Not really sure what’s going on. Use to easily limit out on snapper year around just a couple years ago
Always a good video when you fish that pier. I was there in a boat first thing in the morning last week and there were huge Tarpon right there.
Yeah that's my favorite Pier, if you ever want to fish that pier Let me know my friend 😀💪
@@FishOnChannellet’s go fishing together there, but I’m not pro 😅
Hey Bush really enjoyed this episode I thought you did a wonderful job😊😊
I ve been watching your videos for a while now and have learned a lot about pier fishing, thanks for all your input, it helps a lot .
Appreciate you watching 😀💪
Thanks for putting me on the Mojarras absolutely a game changer 🙏🏽🎣
You're welcome my friend, the best bait for mangrove snapper 😀💪
Bush is the snapper expert. Mojarras aka Sand Perch will catch anything.
Where do you get the Majarras?

@@alleyes9243 early morning the best time
I fished there for 45 years and always threw the Maharaja back, I’m learning what a mistake that was!!
Yeah they work pretty good one of my favorite baits 😀💪
When I have to use more than one lead on a rig - I just tape them together to avoid line twists. Just an idea since you mentioned it.
That is a good idea have to try that 😀💪
Wow that was so good 👍👍👍
Beautiful pier to fish, wish I was closer there… Snappers are showing up now some fat ones too… tight lines buddy 🎣💪
Thank you my friend. I have to plan one of these days and come and fish that bridge with you
great , There's a lot of fishing here, my friend
Yes, thanks

Fast reel on dolphin😂..nice bite out there ...when does grouper season open in Tampa?
@@Mlt..999 is going to be a short season only 2 weeks sometime in September

I have the carbon x for a year now I'm very happy we'll see how long alumix is going to last
Dang bush you were holding class again Sea Dog

Do you prefer to fish the incoming or outgoing?
In this pier I like both tides I like to fish an hour before high tied and an hour after😀💪
Can you catch bait there with sabiki rig ? Local shop to buy bait ?
Plenty of bait around the pier either sabiki or cast net

Man yesterday night was on fire sky way I got some snappers 15 and 17 Inches it was amazing night over there
Nice I might go there Tuesday and try to get some of those 😀💪
What size weight and size hook do you like for snapper fishing? Mainly for cut bait
3/8 on the moving current, and just tiny split shot on slack tide.
@@FishOnChannel thanks, I like to cut up greenies for bait, any size hooks you recommend for snapper using that?
#1-2 j or 1/0 j that's all I use for Snapper
Man I went there and only got a single grouper. Any tips?
locate the rocks that's the trick
Is there a link for that fishing reel
@@Hookemjay yes my friend link on my description
what mesh size is your cast net for those Mojarras?
3/8 5 to 8 ft should be fine
I love the fact that you almost have "that pier to yourself"...That never happens on the East Coast of Florida! (LOL)
Haha weekdays are great, weekends not so much 😀💪,
Some days. But most days it seems like more fishermen than fish in Tampa Bay area.
And another great vid bud i enjoy your channel um is there a limit on the snappies?
5
Appreciate your support, they have to be 10 in minimum 5 per day 😀💪
Nice work!
Thank you 💪
