If everything was in order and there were no agendas, pollution, corruption, shortage of resources and recycling plus endless funding with no care at all for profit then maybe we could focus on the more techical problems that would make it impossible such as extended exposure to radiation. Commercialization of space is already taking place. With reusable launch vessels, the cost to travel to space will be dramatically reduced. We're also about to start the drone flight uber service here in America. The aerospace industry is changing and I'm excited to see what the future holds
Reusable vessels are only a small part of making regular space travel viable in any realistic sense. Humanity needs to develop more efficient propulsion systems that don't rely on limited and highly volatile fuel sources in order to make commercial space travel at all possible. Traveling to space is and will continue to be HIGHLY dangerous and can go wrong in a multitude of ways, and to think sending billionaires or whomever happens to be able to afford a commercial space flight ticket to space will end in anything other than an inevitable disaster and a massive waste of valuable and limited resources is a fantasy. To think it is or would ever be worth it to potentially waste the lives of some of humanity's most intelligent and capable individuals to staff the ships on the vanity projects of capitalists who just want to go to space because they can is extremely short sighted - not to mention the waste of an immense amount of limited resources to build and fuel each individual space craft and flight, let alone a multitude of regular flights if this would ever be done commercially. Space travel should be for scientific advancement and the expansion of our species' potential - only the most capable and useful people should be making that leap, not people who just happen to have a lot of money (who generally have NO qualifications or expertise to make their case that they should go to space). If one or a few of these commercial flights had a major failure and exploded in orbit or collided with another object in orbit, the debris over time could eventually make sending any objects into the upper atmosphere near impossible, and it could also damage or destroy already existing satellites, which could have dramatic consequences for people here on the Earth. There are so many ways this could go wrong for little to no tangible benefit to humanity as a whole. Judging at how often private companies love to cut corners in order to save money, major failures would be inevitable and could ruin space travel for the entire species for literal generations if they screw up bad enough on enough occasions.
