    This is the best instructional video I have seen, it's the way this man communicates. Wonderful.

    I have learned more from this video than the two books and countless internet searches I've struggled with. Thank you, Ken. Brilliantly presented and just great video. That accordion is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

    Thank you for this very helpful video! I just bought a nice accordion at an estate sale (impulse buy) and even though it came with some beginner instructional books, they included no mention nor description of the proper positioning of the accordion and its straps, how to expand the bellows correctly, and what all those buttons do. Your video is a clear and concise overview of all the basics - the best I've seen on TH-cam yet!

    The points about bellows control and being relaxed are especially valuable for the beginners.

    this is the best instructions on how to play an instrument that I have ever seen on youtube

    Thanks for this beginner's lesson. I especially appreciate the details you give about best adjustment for the left-hand strap and the direction to move the bellows (not just out, but down and out). These are important issues, and I haven't seen them addressed in any of the several method books I've looked at-even the good ones! So, again, thank you!

    Excellent video. You mention other lessons in this video. Do you think you could put a playlist together to give some chronological order to your videos? It would be as great help.
    Thanks once again

    This is only part of the Accordion Classroom - Getting Started DVD. The DVD is basically one year of instructions and is available at his website as described in the content of the beginner accordion lesson.

    yup, great lesson - got me through my first week :) perhaps ill-advisedly I fell for a hohner 120 bass in a shop second hand, thought.. oh my what have i done, this won't be easy... but .. glad I did. The tip on straps was particularly useful :) I'm happily getting to grips with the piano and bass bits already, might even take it out live in a couple of months. Helped that I'm a keyboard player, and have an indian harmonium which helps with the playing and bellows certainly.

    Great lesson, it is however advizable to practice the bass with 4-3 instead of 3-2, it is bit more difficult at first, but it will benefit later.

    • @denismethot3365
      @denismethot3365 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All right! Somebody knows the 4-3 method, too. I learned it in 1967 and have never found anyone else who plays that method. It is much smoother and provides great control of the left side. The "stretch" is very comfortable especially for the diminished chord. This guy gives a great lesson.

    i definitely would like to purchase several of the dvds in this series...i just wish there was a package (like the first two or three dvds and corresponding books) deal of some sort, at a bit of a discount for buying all at once...

    Great stuff! I just promised myself I would learn how to play the accordion using my grandpa's old one. How can I get part two of this lesson?

  • @mikeoregan4747
    @mikeoregan4747 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should be teaching finger 4 (ring finger) for bass and counterbass. It's much easier and makes better use of the left hand.
