We had great weather, but it did rain every single day during our entire visit, out with the rain coat put it on, within 30 minutes bright sunny, glorious weather, walk another few miles, rain, another mile, bright sunny and so on and so on. Here at home in Alberta, it is bright, or overcast winter or summer, it is a place of extreme weather, Terrible Bad, Terrible Good no in-between. the weather in England reminded me of Nova Scotia. Enjoy everything you have now, while you can, give George a big hug.
I’ve only experienced a small amount of Alberta, but that does sound like a spot on description of my three days working on a commercial in Drumheller! M
Beautiful!!! My Mother actually set up a table next to Newbury locks in 1972 and got signatures for a petion to halt ramshackle building proposals for "Next to the River"buildings. Hence forth a society was set up in Newbury that gave thought and conscoiusness to this topic.
It was good to see swing bridges with landing stages on the pivot side as it appears that normally the landing stage is on the opposite bank making it impossible for solo boaters. Best wishes and thanks for posing your videos.
Drumheller, now that is a desolate place, I worked for the Telephone company as an Engineer and have been to virtually every Central Office in Alberta. So this is where your programming comes in, commercials.
+George Stephen thank you! A lot of work went into getting flat brackets onto our very curved roof and we will have the ability to tilt fully for winter sun. Video is on it way. Jo
+Luann Crownover Thank you. Michael still has a lot of pain in his back but it's slowly improving. Solar video to follow at som point it was not a simple install. Thanks for watching. Jo
Four notes: 1. First it's Ducks, now Coots! Where will this end? 2. Ouch, Sorry 3. (NOA) Nitrous Oxide Anonymous Meetings. Don't rule them out. 4. Like maps, lots.
Hope you've managed to fill your watertank by now, and that the hair-wash was finally possible. The only crewmember of "Perseverance" that didn't seem to mind the traditional English rainy weather was George, he looks happy wherever he is.
Thank you for these videos. You make them interesting and entertaining. If you have time for a question I'd be interested in finding out how you receive training to pilot a narrowboat. Thinking of having a holiday in the UK and this seems ideal.
+Ian Gorner thanks for watching! 😀 We did our training with a company called Willow Wren and can highly recommend them. We found them through their you tube channel and have some great videos about how to steer and moor etc. Well worth a watch to learn the basics th-cam.com/channels/KQFpGBaJ63p7EQx9xm3fhA.html
+Pete Moring yep, we plan to live-a-board and cc full time. It was a bit depressing sitting still for so long to install the batteries and then the solar. Much happier now we are on the move again. Winter will be interesting I'm sure, we are already missing the light evenings of June! Jo
You don't need to waste water washing your hair! Leave it another couple of weeks and it'll settle down :) Great vlog as usual guys :) £10 seems a bit steep for water! You didn't ask for 120 litres of Perrier did you? If you'd bought diesel, would you have got the water for free? Also, I thought the Shroppie was narrow in places, but the K&A seem to be challenging that! The turf sided lock looked really interesting. Must get to see that in person :). Do you have a stainless steel water tank? We do, and I never see any brown water coming up no matter how low the water gets. Oh, and how does the level crossing go Michael? It made me laugh so much I replayed it, and the lean away from the naughty boat, several times!
+Ronnie Lloyd Jo's hair never settles down! It actually ended up being £5 for the water, which is still at least £4 too much, but we were also on the last dregs and locks away from the next actual water point. Hard to say what the system will be in the future, the marina has apparently booted out the old chandlery owner that also ran the services and has taken it over and is restarting it somehow this week. The K&A is lovely but at points the reeds have overgrown ridiculously, which is why it looks quite that narrow. And yes it's a SS tank, the brown seems to be sediment/rust, and only happens when you're literally at the very last of the water. M
just in case its useful to you. i am "passing" next weekend. and can drop you in any special tools i may have that you need. MC4 crimp. lug terminal crimp.
Water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink, that is if your prepared to part with a tenner TFB. They should treat you both like royalty, after all you are giving them a free plug on your chanel. Oh what was that in the water at 8:30, looked too big for a George??.

Looks like George is getting you two fit , better than a personal trainer ..
+Jeff Brewster He's definitely improving my throwing at least! M

+Luann Crownover Thank you. Michael still has a lot of pain in his back but it's slowly improving. Solar video to follow at som point it was not a simple install. Thanks for watching. Jo
Glad he is improving! I'll bet the solar was pretty tricky, but just going on looks, it looks like a professional job. You all take care and enjoy!
Newbury is a lovely place
+Joanna Pocock Yup! And the dog just LOVED Victoria Park! M
“I think I’ll probably walk it all”
Prophetic statement right there...
Just common sense! M
Four notes:
1. First it's Ducks, now Coots! Where will this end?
2. Ouch, Sorry
3. (NOA) Nitrous Oxide Anonymous Meetings. Don't rule them out.
4. Like maps, lots.
+John Rice It'll end with feathers. Lots and lots of feathers. And blood. Well, more blood. As for the nox, I'm good ... one time was plenty! M
Hope you've managed to fill your watertank by now, and that the hair-wash was finally possible. The only crewmember of "Perseverance" that didn't seem to mind the traditional English rainy weather was George, he looks happy wherever he is.
+Peter Mastenbroek yes, George is loving life, especially if he has a tennis ball in his mouth! Jo
Glad to see your better after the fall 👍
+steve cooney Thanks
Welcome to Blighty.
+Noddy Edwards Thanks! M
Good update. Liked the folky/banjo groove going on in this vid too. What's it called? Keep 'em coming
+Airlite X it's called Once Tomorrow by Josh Woodward

+Carl Lloyd true, it was pretty quiet for a Sunday! Jo
Looking forward to the solar set up video as I'm close to investing in one myself....I'm guessing you've opted for about 500w.... :)
+Benjamin Ranyard 670w total. Solar install video on its way soon!
wowzers....on two panels...good show....I await with baited breath....be prepared for a raft of geeky questions. ;)
Are you going to be on your boat in the Winter?
Looks like the old #Depression is starting to set in :-(
+Pete Moring yep, we plan to live-a-board and cc full time. It was a bit depressing sitting still for so long to install the batteries and then the solar. Much happier now we are on the move again. Winter will be interesting I'm sure, we are already missing the light evenings of June! Jo

Jo, what make is your coat?
Do you have cratch covers?
The boat came with a cratch cover. If we took it off. It’s currently sitting in my parents garage. J
just in case its useful to you. i am "passing" next weekend. and can drop you in any special tools i may have that you need. MC4 crimp. lug terminal crimp.
+darren slater thanks for the offer, I think Michael has messaged you on FB
Well I'll guess we'll know as a certain somebodies hair will obvious look like that rather unexpected scene from 'There's Something About Mary' ...
+Matt Allen haha
Dry shampoo is good for emergency situations!
+Dulcie Barnes ahh! Good thinking! Although thankfully we have water now. Jo

Name and shame
Plus no diesel anymore at Newbury boat services nearest now is Aldermarston boo hoo
+Vivienne Brooks that's annoying!
