  • A conversation and performance featuring legendary musician Roger McGuinn, co-founder of the Byrds. The session will celebrate the 20th anniversary of folkden.com, a pioneering digital humanities project.
In November of 1995, McGuinn began the Folk Den to preserve folk music. Each month he recorded a song, printed the lyrics and chords, added a personal note, and made the content freely available for download on his website mcguinn.com. He wanted to give everyone the opportunity to learn the songs and to be able to sing them with their families and friends.
The conversation will be moderated by Steve Weiss, curator of the Southern Folklife Collection.
The event was on March 1, 2016 held in the Hanes Art Center Auditorium at UNC-CH. It is co-sponsored by the Carolina Digital Humanities Initiative, ibiblio.org, and the Southern Folklife Collection. Permission was granted for video of the jam session.

By far not the best version.

Terrible. Roger was WAYYY off on the guitar solo.
During the verse, that one chord after the D major is B MAJOR not B minor.

@@pmangum6879 Then, he should not have skipped the solo instead of murdering it. Get it?

@@yesterdayproductions1019 However,, as a guitar player myself, I know what it's like to try to play an old beater somebody hands you which is which is what that looks like. May be rust on the strings, who knows! I say cut him a break.

Roger's been off key, so to speak , for a long time now. He keeps revisiting the past over and over again. Same ole same ole. Nothing new, or trying new musical horizons beyond folk. Gene Clark DEFINITELY missed!!! 👎 ♐

With respect to you. Maybe he feels more affiliation with folk music. I must admit Americana/folk music is one of my favourite genres. It is still cool today eg. Luke Bryan.
However! I did admire the Byrd's realising psychedelic music to expand themselves a bit. However! This track is one of my favourite Byrd's songs.
