The Best EMF Meter For Detecting RF Radiation - Trifield TF2 VS Acoustimeter AM-10 - Best RF Meter?

  • This EMF meter review video will show you what to look for when selecting the best emf meter for RF radiation detection. Not all EMF meters are great for detecting certain types of EMF. Most people think EMF is a singular term/thing, but in reality there are several types of EMF. And each is it's own specialty in some cases, but when checking EMF in your home, it's imperative that you know which meters work best for your needs. Otherwise you'll have a false sense of security, and may be putting yourself or your kids at risk.
    Trifield TF2 EMF Meter -  amzn.to/3z9GfOy
    Acoustimeter AM-10 - amzn.to/3wR7QTq
    New updated model: Acoustimeter AM-11 amzn.to/38t2y7e
    I have other EMF meter review videos that cover Cornett meters, other Trifield meters, etc... Please know I use and love the Trifield TF2, just not for detecting rf radiation, wifi routers, or checking cell phones. If you're looking to detect wifi radiation and any type of rf radiation emissions, most of the videos covering emf meters for electric and magnetic fields aren't going to the best fit.

    First off, your battery is pretty low. As an amateur radio operator I have a responsibility to assure proper radiation and distance of my transmitter and antenna systems from myself and my neighbors. I have the same Trifield TF-2 in RF mode and sitting 10ft away from my WiFi router is showing solid ~3mW/m2 with the peaking at ~4.2mW/m2. I think you may have a defective TF-2. Maybe buy another one to test with.

    The RF antenna (but not the MAG or ELEC antennas) on the Trifield is directional. It’s placed on the top-left corner iirc, and you have to point it at whatever direction you want to measure. This is described in its documentation. You were measuring a few feet above the router.

    Did you take into account the fact that your batttery is nearly dead?
    Electronic devices with very specific units of measure like EF, EMF in both magnetic and electric origin need at minimum 50% battery capacity in order to function properly.
    There are certain devices with much higher sensitivity for certain frequencies & applications as you have and do mention, without question.
    Good content and explanation for possible deviations so keep up the informative vlogs.

    I just bought the Trifield TF2 and the RF is super sensitive. It picks up amazingly especially when I move my mobile phone near it, but even when my mobile is far away from it.

    Matt, thanks for the video. I've heard elsewhere that in order to obtain an accurate RF reading from the TriField TF2, one should generally assume whatever number it is revealing (in microwatts per square meter) is 10 times stronger in reality. Would you agree with that? Thanks

    This video is two years old. Some miss steps within, still useful to illustrate how rf meter sensitivity is super important for detecting RF radiation like wifi routers, cell phones, etc... I love both EMF meters, but one is a terrible tool for certain types of EMF, great for another. The purpose of the video is to illustrate how easy it is to have a false sense of security in your sleeping environment... potentially putting yourself or your children at risk.

    Is it possible that the reason for the zero reading is this is an older meter, where the reading was wrong?
    Found this on another video:
    NOTE: At this time (Mar18) AlphaLab has let us know that a mistake was made with the placement of the decimal point in relation to Radio Frequency (RF) radiation measurement. The decimal point on the very first models needs to be 2 places to the left. Meaning: if the display reads 250.0, you should read that as 2.5 mW/m2. This would explain why the readings seemed so high in comparison to other meters. Glad they picked it up so quickly.

It is located about 1/4 mile down the mountain from a large radio tower and we’d like to know if it’s safe to live there. I’m sure there is also a cell tower nearby but I haven’t located it yet. There are many budget devices that can help you, I tested many and most of them are useful, but they have pros and cons, you need to check it out and choose what you like.

  • @Merializer
    @Merializer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Acoustimeter also doesn't show anything on average mostly (from a distance). Only 1 µW/m² sometimes which is 0.001 mW/m². So the TF2 not showing much in average is not that abnormal since it probably detects average just below 0.001mW/m². However i have seen the TF2 jump to 0.003 mW/m² which is = 3 microWatts. If you compare peak on both meters (from a distance), they both pick up about the same: 0.2 V/m = +- 0.106 mW/m².
    0.3 V/m = +- 0.238 mW/m². The TF2 does show peaks between +- 0.100 to 0.200 mW/m² now and then. To be fair the Accoustimeter does show them more often and seems more sensitive and reliable for checking RF, so you seem right that it is the better meter of the two to check for RF.

    • @matt-justice
      @matt-justice  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed, but as I said in the video, using them for detection is quite different than taking measurements. For most people looking to get sleeping environment close to zero, detection is where it's at. But you are right on the measurements. Also my fault for not editing this video and adding context: this was recorded two years ago when I was living in Maine in a zero rf environment (other than self induced equipment) I just never uploaded it, and people keep asking why I say no go on trifield for rf detection.

    I am not here to condemn your video, but the Trifield is not multi a directional tool. I think one of the commentors of your video stated this. Also you can correct me if I am wrong but the Acoustimeter measures in V/M and the Trifield for RF measures in milliwatts per square meter. If you look at the peak measurment at the top right of the Trifield device you will see it has a fluctuating number. This number seems to be a very close correct conversion of the rounded number readings on the Acoustimeter.

I am super uneducated on this and don't know the exact differences in radio, electronic or magnetic frequencies and what is most dangerous. • @Merializer
      @Merializer 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@candanielI have recommendations yes. But there is no simple answer to your question. If I would need to mention 1 budget meter I would be biased, since all have flaws. But it's still very useful to have a budget device even with the flaws they aren't that bad. Good devices cost a lot of money, but all devices will detect strong fields, which is usually the most important, unless you have EMF sensitivity and you want the best. Hence the videos so you can choose yourself. I separated it in 3 main categories: electric, magnetic and RF. The recommends for best RF mode is in a pdf file in the description of the last video about RF, at the very bottom of the pdf. The recommends for magnetic is in the description of the last video about magnetic and the recommends for electric is in the description of the last video about electric of that video series. It's still kinda vague though, you still will need to watch some tests to figure out what you like.

    If the RF wave, the RF reading from the Trifield isn't strong enough move the needle from your sitting or sleeping location does it really matter? If it can't pick up any reading unless next to the source it's pretty useless for RF and was probably marketed just to increase sales. Until they are busted as in this video!
