I am in Nova Scotia as well. I love the exclusive offers from Superstore, although I think they give everyone the same ones, so often the item is sold out. Our superstore is notorious for not having sale items in stock. It drives me crazy! I love finding the 50% off stickers... I'm always searching for them! 😊
I say that pretty regular. Everyone must have this exclusive offer because they are sold out! The good thing, they will give rain checks on the exclusive offers. I'm always scanning for the discount stickers. Ha. It's just the smart thing to do! Thanks for watching. Where are you local to?
3 Petite sirloin, 10 dollars, dozen eggs for 3 dollars, broccoli for 3 dollars, cheese for 5, butter for 4, bread for 3, coffee for 12, carrots for 3, potatoes if you need them are 5 bucks for 5 lbs. Cans of soup are 99 cents each. Bacon, 7 dollars every month because you cook a real breakfast on your days off. Add some variety with pork chops and chicken and you can feed a family of 3 for about 70 dollars a week. You've just gotta cook.
Great job as always! Lots of food and great prices. Most people overestimate, I think, how much food a person needs to eat. With the remainder of your stockpile, I'm sure you and "the handsome one' will be fed quite well.
He is eating most meals with me. It'll be fine. I just used something out of the freezer from week 2. Week 7 I'll be keeping my eye out for some meat options.
Hi, Melanie! It's amazing what can be done with a little planning and budgeting. You're blessed to have someone who is willing to play along. I can assure you, this is not the case in many households. I can't wait to see what you make with everything this week.
Good to mention pharmacy chains. Went to our local Rexall where I got reduced Name brand apple juice 2 litre from 4.99 to .99 and 2 litre milk from 4.99 to 1.49 both best before days were 3 days away. froze half the juice, drank some and made apple juice wacky cake. Use milk for pancakes, biscuits and sauces, freezing some as well. It's also best for buying eggs. You seem to get better deals with your optimum card than me. So much bang for your buck.
I used to shop at Lawtons during my regular grocery shop. Their loss leaders are always really great buys! Some weeks, my optimum offers have nothing good for me. Then, like last week, I got a bunch of great offers. I can't figure out the system.
Great haul both at $29 or $23. I think it is going to be interesting to see how this goes with the two of you eating off of this amount and your pantry!!
@@adventuresingroceryland I love how he is willing to participate and also help out with the shopping. I am disabled so sometimes I cannot go to the store so my husband goes 🤦🏻♀️ I write the list out by aisle, screen shot pics of “unusual” items and write the sizes of each item. Hr always takes hours no matter how big or small the list is, and calls me 500 times. It’s hysterical! My sister and I tease him about it and he is such a great sport, and husband!
I find my of my coupons on rip off pads on the shelves near the products. The Natrel coupon I had was from an incident I had with Natrel milk about 8-10 weeks ago. The company sent it to me in the mail. But normally, I just watch for rip off pads on the shelves.
Hi Melanie 🤗 yet another amazing week! Look at you go 🥰 I have the day off on Wednesday and I'm going to poke around the Asian market that I don't into that often to see if they have any good specials. Plus I did a trade with a coworker - I gave her some spices that I bought from Amazon that I had never opened and that she uses regularly and she gave me an extra box of chickpea pasta from Costco that she's not too keen on. You never know what will come up in conversations and this way we both get things we will use. The $$$ value was pretty similar but we were just happy to help each other use items in our pantries.
Great deals this week! Love the 50% off potatoes! That’s stock up price on those flakes of meats! Hey, do as you want , sharing with the handsome one makes meal prep easier. You’ve more than proven that a person can live on 23 dollars a week for food if you live in the Maritimes. You’ve pointed out it takes time and planning and frequent visits to various stores. Personally I live almost 1/2 hour drive out of town so I don’t even go every week. I do miss out on sales. However I’ve been at it a long time and stay stocked up so when I do go and get my sales I stock up so which usually makes it so I have what I need without paying full price for something. Like the flakes of ham , if I was there then I’d likely buy 12 or the maximum allowed. Then I wouldn’t have to worry for a long time. Same as you are developing a stick pile if you were to continue a There would come a point when you could skip a week saving the money for future and times when you might buy 20 cans of ham and a dozen eggs some milk and that’s it for that week. But yet tons of food at home to keep eating variety and well. Great job!
Great haul! Did you say Long's drugstore? If so we use to have that in the states like 40 years ago. Frozen vegetables here is like $1 for a 16 ounce a bag banana's here at walmart are .54 cents a pound you pay more than what we pay here in Tennessee. Take care and stay safe.
I think it's great the "handsome one" can also eat on the same budget. It also is probably great you're cooking once and not double meals, unless he cooks his own meals.
He was actually cooking his own meals BUT...unless he was twinning a meal I was making, there wasn't that many vegetables. This is way more balanced for him. Less "chicken burgers" and way more vegetables.

Definitely get a rain check.
@@sandiedrew4086 I didn't realize they would do a rain check for an exclusive offer!! I will remember that. I am in Cape Breton.
Another amazing video from Melanie of Nova Scotia who teaches us how to stretch the dollar at the grocery store. Thank you Melanie❤😊🎉.

Exactly.
Melanie, you and the handsome eating on a $23 budget completely blows my mind🎉😊❤
He is mostly eating with me. Lol. He's not part of the challenge so he has access to the entire house. I am making about 80% of his meals now.
New sub. Really great haul!!
Thanks. Where are you watching from?

He's pretty agreeable. ❤️

It's been going fine so far. One meal I had him use a part of his own supplies but he used some of mine as well. I only use mine.

I did grab some .55 Kraft dinner as well.
I don’t think that I have ever seen it so cheap.
@sandiedrew4086 Not for years and years. Worth picking it up for the pantry. For sure!
Let us know what you think of the bio best yogurt please. 😊
It tasted like regular plain yogurt. I noticed zero difference.
I did notice that Lawton’s does have some good deals. Wet cat food is a good price there $1 a can🎉❤😊
They often have great flyer sales.
Great deal on the bananas. What are you going to bake? Banana bread mmm?
I'm going to use the bananas for smoothies. With the handsome one eating with me most meals now, it makes anninexpensive breakfast.
Why do people just leave free food at the pump? I'd be out there collecting receipts too!! Lol
I'm always happy for my windfall and luck but genuinely puzzles as why people don't want them. I get so excited when I get a free one.
Melanie, where do you usually find coupons?

OMGosh. I love trades. I love going splits on bulk buys and multi buys. It's such an easy way to save and stretch budgets. So clever.

Lawton's Drug Store. I would love $1 frozen veggies. I wish!
