Hi, Phil. Great update, as is your habit. Wouldn’t change anything you are doing. There’s a place for all sorts of clip makers, from detailed descriptions of big projects, well researched historical treatises, people inviting debate about issues (very brave with cranky old responders like me around), and plenty of people learning the craft and getting better and better at it. Yours are always so frequent, well paced, well informed, and in a wholly natural style. It’s like having a mate who sends out regular “Hey, have a look at this” clips. I always look forward to them. Sheer gold. No need to change a thing. Oh, and as for a possible name change to STV, whatever floats your boat.
Hi Phil, excellent video. Great seeing all the progress happening at Central Station. Hopefully, everything there will be completed on time and it will be a smooth opening of the new platforms. Anyway, all the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Went to Central on Wednesday afternoon and saw that they were putting up the overhead. I came back yesterday afternoon and saw that the overhead is now up on platforms 12 & 14 and they were under way putting the overhead up on platform 13
Change it to platform 9 and three quarters. Much better laid out than Southern Cross which is a mess, particularly with the signage. I understand how they thought they'd retain some of the historical feel of the old Central, but it really was pretty rubbish. Changing the platform roofs to the new modern design would complete the massive update appeal and help sell Sydney's transport. The suburban stations are all littered with the same unthinking over engineered rubbish and clutter. This is one case where new beats old no question. Get a new broom and clear it all out, to make commuting a pleasure instead of a pain.

The western end platform underpasses need to connect to the big open area.
I agree with your point of not renumbering the rest of the platforms, commuters have been using the station and platform numbers for as long as they've been alive, why change it?
Hi a.... It's been such a long time since I've seen Central... So, thanks for the update... Just one question... Why didn't they completely remove the unused third rail line between lines 8 and 9... Did they run out of money, or was it just the Ozzie thing... Couldn't be bothered...
Its a rail between platform 9 ( which the presenter is on ) and 10, which is still closed ( as you can see from the barricades at the stairway entrance early in the video and various bits of tape on the platform ) . One might infer from the closed state of platform that construction work, including taking up the redundant rails is not yet complete.
it allows 10 car D sets which are 203m long, compared to the 8 car V sets 192m length compensating for the platforms getting shortened due to the northern concourse expansion cleaning up some parts of the yard and allowing for better flow better drainage in the dive some random improvements to signalling, overhead wires and what not
Our own voices sound different to all of us because what we hear in our heads is different to how others hear us and this is evident to us when we hear our voices played back on recordings and videos.

That weird jaguar introduction needs to go.
Hmmm. Maybe a close up of his coffee being made, with an image of a train, tracks or lollipop sign being created by the barista across the froth.

Finally, those platforms are open. Its amazing how long it takes. I was hoping they'd be open by October 2024.
Coffee, check. Central update, check! Cheers, Phil
Hahaha cheers mate! :)

I filmed at every single light rail station today between westmead and Carlingford
Well done! :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs thank you
I caught it from Dundas to Parramatta today to go to the guitar shop. Turns out the station is right at the front door 😊
@AbitLippy cool
seeing Central be so empty is something so unreal to me, maybe i should explore train stations in early/late hours, sounds peaceful
off topic: sydney central would make a nice quake map. :)
Why are platforms 24 and 25 NOT being renovated? 😮
They are ok for the time being
@ they are disgusting dirty embarrassing not ok for the time being I ride this line shame on state rail
Well they renovate the old concourse passageway?

Now that the new overhead development has been canned, will any of the other platforms receive the new style canopies?

Is it privatisation?
No it’s just part of the upgrade :)
I've a request for a vid, travel to the stations that each letter for Christmas aligns to, eg C-Central and film update, H-Holsworthy, etc
