Incase you're looking for a comment that validates this farm I built this on the 04/12/2024 and it worked like a charm. I play on Java 1.21.30 on PC. Sometimes the smoker gets clogged but it produces so much that its a non issue.
from what i know, its not how much kelp you take out at once that affect the amount of exp. its how many kelps have been cooked before you take out that kelp that affect the xp.
This is more than a little overkill. You could use like 1-3 observers in each row and it would effectively be the same. You might just need a repeater or 2 to spread the signal
@@carrot-xd1633 Nah bro they meant it's overkill to have that many observers. You can keep the number of kelp the same just lower the observer cost a lot by not having one for every kelp
I have a ton of problems followed it step for step but 1st my observers or pistons dont work unless i go inside to hit the kelp. 2nd my hoppers transfer in to the hoppers & smoker but nothing from the smoker will go into the chest
How is this suppose to refuel itself when no kelp goes into the fuel section after coal is out? From what I’m watching the barrel has no connection to the kelp itself therefor not replenishing fuel
You make kelp blocks and have a hopper going into the furnace so that way when the fuel runs out you have more kelp blocks waiting to be used as fuel getting sent into the furnace. :)
im struggling right now cause for some reason my second and third row don't want to work only the first row :/ and i need all the kelp i can get so plz someone help me make sense of this. followed the video to a T so im so confused right now.
I added like 6 more layers and make sure ur in the chunk its in so it can render. If you leave the chunk its not gonna grow. U can afk near it thats what I do when im busy
I have a few concerns with the build. I’ve built one other but was greatly disappointed as it claimed to produce a couple thousand an hour but barely produced a stack. To my first concern much like the sugar cane farm. I am concerned with the kelp getting stuck. Some sugar cane farms I’ve seen recommend a piston for every level of sugar cane. So that product is push into the flow of water. I’m going to try this build and probably create some variants. I want to test out the idea of letting the kelp grow several blocks not just one. IO also just thought about using shears. Will test that idea in open water just to see what it does. Using a dispenser and shears instead of a piston seems like a more natural mechanic. I also quest the flowing water. Thanks for the inspiration
You can use less observers, so long as the redstone line behind is across all blocks just like in the video. The observers detect when any kelp in that row grows to be 3 blocks high and then activates the full row of pistons so if you use less observers it means less chance to see if a kelp has grown. But I tested it with observers every other block instead of the full row and it still functions the same!
Awesome video, thanks! I used half as many observers (one every other block) and it still works really well. Also mirrored the farm facing the hopper line in the middle so that it doubles the size (looks like a big V shape from the side). I also used another video for a tileable auto furnace system. With 4 levels of kelp/pistons and the mirroring doubling the size I needed two auto smelters from this video: th-cam.com/video/PRW3YBYvCBs/w-d-xo.html

Correct. The furnaces build a memory of all smelted items, and when you manually take out an item, it feeds you the xp.
For the observers, look at the metal part in the center of the wood part of the piston

i have a 60 furnace super smelter this is most definitely NOT overkill

W for doing it in survival with me😂

I used this video for the auto furnace part:

thank you for the farm, its pretty good and i already used in three worlds of mine
maybe put another chest and hopper inbetween the smoker and the first hoppers so it doesnt get clogged
my kelp isn’t growing?
Is it getting sunlight, cause i think it needs light to work
Just use some glowstone to light it or something similar. :) should do the trick.
Worked great bro I made sure to like the video well done thank you
Fantastic build, super straightforward and works like a charm! Liked and subbed, looking forward to more of your content 👌👌

great step by step video bro
Great video man!
can you tell me what your connected glass texture pack is?
vanilla tweaks
Why does my kelp float to the top
u forgot to mention how the water gets messed up after a while
LOVED IT!!!, It works, thanks. :D
How is it 500 per hour? I barely get 30, it grows soooooo slow.

I mirrored a second one faceing this one. all going into same chest. it's decent for a passive farm!
@@danialBeard4653 good idea I might try that
Bees?
I used this on my server and it is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Does it still work if it's built in 1.20.1?
For some reason nothing happens with my red stone lines :(
same
@@twogoats. i fixed it myself. You need to cut the kelp down to one kelp, then they wake up :D
@@deepjoes1072Tysm ur a lifesaver bro I can’t thank u enogh
Im not getting XP for some reason. Anyone know why ?
are you actually taking any dried kelp from the furnace? You only get it if you take some out
is there a way to adjust this design so each observer only sets off its corresponding piston ? cos i think that would be more efficient.
Some kelps stop growing when they are 2 blocks tall. With this design, you break the problematic top kelp and reset the bottom kelp.
За наблюдателями поставить полные блоки, а красный камень за поршнями. Эту ферму водорослей строил 5-7 лет назад.
btw, you acually need 48 pistons and 48 observers for a full 3rd layer. EDIT: any multiple of 16 works
EDIT: nvm I built it wrong
can someone tell me how wide is the farm i need tot know
my observers wont detect the kelp growth at all, not sure whats wrong?
Maybe it's on the wrong side

Does it really need that many observer?

Love the name mad ‘reyt good’ very Yorkshire
this video would've been 3x faster if you talked like you did at the beginning
It needs double the size for java fyi
My kelp keeps floating to the top
water needs to be flowing from the topmost observers to the bottom, if it's all filled, the kelp will flow to the top
Great food source? Bro its D tier at best
Awesome video, thanks!

Nice
i got like 1 stack each 12 minutes
It's abit overboard in size
Этой ферме более 5 лет.
fishy fishy
Kelp is so 2019
What's better for fuel?
What's better for XP?
I am just wanting to build something that I can use to top off all my tools enchanted with mending.
Bedrock more faster than Java
this sucks
What’s wrong with it? Or why is it flawed, if that’s what you mean
