I Loved Welding in school, the welders we had were absolute garbage and this one is obviously top notch. I reckon i’ll get straight into an awesome new tray for my truck and a camper trailer i’ve been wanting to build from the ground up! Honestly if i got this i’d probably buy an old 80 series and do an extra cab swap. I’ve been dreaming about it for years and years and with this i’ll probably make the decision and go for it considering i can literally make ANYTHING!

Great “how to” there Shauno, some good information to get people started, just a couple of points
•Porosity can also be caused by too much gas flow, look up Venturi effect
•Gas type is important , argon/c02 for mild Steel mig, pure argon for stainless mig+tig
As for what my first project would be, finish my rear bar and start a set of turbo manifolds.
Good luck to the winner cause I know it won’t be me

My pop who passed away a few years back now was a draftsman who worked for solo/jjrichard and sons in Chinderah Nsw for almost 50 years. I went there as a young boy and was instantly amazed I’m now a apprentice mechanic who is looking to follow his footpaths in welding. This starter kit is amazing and would quickly get me into some exhaust fabrication and maybe some shelves for the garage 🤙🏽

Hi guys, I am 19 years old and I am trying to restore my lada niva and the good welder would be really good. I cant afford myself that welder but it would change everything and with this video I learned a lot about welding. When I was 16 I bought lada niva and didn't see how much rust it has and I drove it like that for 3 years and know its time to rebuild my dream 4wd. I am from Croatia and I would really like to drive again my niva. Hope you all have a great day.

one of the the first project i would tackle with the welder is a basic sheet metal bender then i would go on to making a slide out pantry for the old mans canopy, with the sheet metal bender i build before hand and obviously the welder. then probably a log holder that slides into your tow ball hitch for cutting fire wood. would be very handy to have.

I hadn't welded since high school but always wanted to learn properly. Then good old lockdown raised its head down here in Vic, So I borrowed my neighbours mig welder and had a crack. I finally got the old man teaching me his old panel beating knowledge and we cut out all the rust in my project car and welded it all back up! Was such an awesome experience learning how to weld and finally working on a car with the old man!! Since then I've fixed my old trailer and made up some metal garden edging!! So glad I finally learnt how to weld and now im looking for more things to fix!! Now I just need my own welder instead of borrowing the neighbours 😂 My first project with this welder would be making new mounting brackets for my bar work on my hilux surf seeing i found out the hard way hilux parts aren't compatible with Surfs 😂!! I would be forever grateful for such a prize!! Keep up the great work guys, Love the trips, tips and beers in the shed 🍻

So my best mate is a sheet metal fabricator by trade and I’m always lining up jobs for the poor bugger to start and finish. I’ve been too tight to spend the money on a welder even though I’ve been talking about it for years!
By winning this package, it would allow me to get into the big long list of projects without having to rely on my mate Elliott. Starting with the framework for the shed extension, the rust patches that are starting to come through in the old Hilux, and to whip into the floor pans on my project VW Baja Bug!
Love the channel, and whether I win or not, I’ll save this video for the time when I’m in the shed with my new future welding apparatus!

This timing of the giveaway is so perfect! I have plans to build a trailer behind my restored 1965 Unimog 404. I just started drawing some ideas!
I have the plan to learn welding for the trailer build. On my unimog my father and friends did the welding (very difficult welds)
So my plans are I want a 750kg ( the law allows me to build my own designed trailer of 750kg without brakes ) trailer with 40inch unimog tires. I found an axle by a friend in his garden and I gonna restore it. It fits Unimog rims. I will get leaf springs and shocks from an SJ413 or something similar. And then make a flatbed to tow a small boat + 4hp engine or big army tent. And some boxes under the bed for storage. And same width as the Unimog.
So I really hope I win this awesome opportunity! I gonna film the process of the build.
I think it will look epic to have a small trailer with same tires as the 1965 Unimog ❤️ And my father can teach me welding so I have the skill for life!

750kg unbraked includes your trailer weight and payload, not just tare weight of your trailer, so as you'll very quickly find out, building a solid trailer leaves very little payload capacity.
Little point having a solid 500kg trailer to carry 250kg payload.
Look into braked axle for everyone's sake.

Hey boys, ripper of a video might I say. At the moment I just have a crappy old stick welder that's about as useful as tits on a bull and I've dreamt of having a quality mig welder for years. The first thing I'd tackle is a canopy for the back of my single cab ln106 and maybe some bar work once I got more acquainted with welding. Been wanting to learn how to weld for a while now. Just a few hurdles in the way.
1- single wage supporting a young family
2 - Covid. Moved to Brisbane for work. Family stuck in Melbourne for over 2 months. Paying 2 rents and 2 living arrangements.
Doing video calls with my 3 and 16month old a few times a day, even reading them bed time stories via video call.

I've done a bit of welding in school but nothing since i've graduated. A fresh frame for my tray would be sweet, not to mention fixing up all those stress cracks in it from my recent Simpson Desert trip (Structural Ratchet Strap Gang). Fully custom bar work with a sick and simple welder would be close behind to give my 4j Collie a couple of useful presents. There's always so many little jobs on the rig that need a welder so this would be a massive help. Good video Shauno,
I've been welding for about 35 Years and all tips are pretty good and correct.
Just a tip for you to give your punters a better view is shade your camera when welding.
Easier for the learners if they can see what the Electrode, mig or tig look like when laying a weld.
With Electrodes, go with the E41XX and not the E47Xx or 48XX easier to start and run a GP Electrode for a learner.
Also with the helmet, show the different tints that they have.
Some people like 12 and 13, but tig I prefer 10 or 11.
    Keep up the great work..

Gates, pergola, stands for various tools I’ve inherited, this would be a dream come true! Not to mention all the small little 4WD and car welding projects I could undertake…where does my list end!

This awesome setup would come in handy for my unrealised ambition of creating garden art and fire pits and that sort of thing. This pandemic has made me think long and hard about what I enjoy doing and my crappy Aldi gasless mig has opened my eyes to what I could achieve with the right gear. The closer I get to retirement the more I think about ways to finance that retirement- why not have fun welding in the shed and sell stuff you make? Love the videos guys.

have been dreaming of a welder for years each day, have had a real struggle deciding if i should just opt for a cheap stick but cant drop the idea of a pristine welder like this, first project id tackle im almost unsure. Have alot of small items around to repair but would most likely start making parts for my 4wd like a tray and bumper. Whatever it is im sure im gonna have an absolute blast doing it

I have been using my mates little stick welder on my last project, so I think this would be a great addition to help the both of us out on our projects,
But my first project with the welder is I would love to fix up my trailer as it has a couple of rust holes in it and maybe even knock up an enclosed frame for it to have a diy camper trailer/gear carter,
    Great video 👍

This video couldn't have come sooner! I've been tossing up on a few different welders and almost had the rush of blood purchase. This would be my first welder in which I have a few projects lined up. The first is to make a door on the rear of my ute tray to enclose the gap made by the two side toolboxes that I use as my canopy, I've even done the drawings, with a cut list. I just need to purchase the supplies and more importantly the welder! Cheers guys!

Thanks for all the info. First job is either creating a nice little portable BBQ out of a 9kg gas bottle for bush camping with the 4WD and the caravan (my plan) or making a new gate for the side of the house after it being damaged during our last storm (the wife's plan). We both now what I have to do first though, happy wife happy life. One of the best things I learnt is the saying, if there's slag you drag. Cheers, Darrell

The first thing id jump into with this DIY setup (bar fixing a few dodgy old welds i have previously done) would be to hack into a 1958 series 1 land rover with my dad. It's little project that has been waiting years in the making and i know he'd be super stoked with a good welding setup

Have always struggled with the old Stick welders that we remember back from our child hood days with dad in the shed. Love the look of these welders and the weld quality and finish. The first thing I would make would be some outdoor play equipment for the kids. Been bugging me for some Monkey bars and climbing frames.

I've been wanting to learn to weld for some time but have only tried stick welding which hasn't worked out well. Thanks for the video, inspired me to give gasless MIG welding it a go. Love that this welder has an easy setting for different thicknesses of metal! First couple of projects will be on my jeep, I'll start small by making a frame for a dual battery set up and then some rock sliders once I get a bit of practice!

With that Weldclass MIG, I would make a fire pit with a few mods to cook on (hot plate, grill, billy holder). This will mean lockdown camping in the backyard will be awesome with the kids.

TUB RACK!! My dad and I have had this on our minds for my new Ute for way to long. Now footy has finished and we’ve got some time up our sleeves my 3D drawings can come to life. Still though dad asking his boss to use the workshop welding has me feeling guilty, this would be amazing!!

the first project i would tackle is creating my own welding table as i have to weld on my dads little stand up bar table with my pops very old welder and a few youtube tutorials to teach me how to set up a welder, have been wanting to tackle this project for a long time but the welder has had a lot of issues. i have also wanted to transition from the automotive trade to boilermaker as i love watching welding and i find it very fun so i would love to start learning a bit more with this starter pack.

I would love to modify my Quad Bike toy carrier/Camper. I have relied on my brother most of my life for any welding job as I never could afford my own, but had to wait months/years to get him to help out. At 51 at can only remember trying to weld in the shed when Dad wasn't home with an old arc welder.

Hey Shauno, wish I would have had this video at hand a few years ago. Back then I had no idea at all about welding and built an aluminum roof rack for my 110 Land Rover Defender as buying one was just too expensive. I just went by trial and error with my stepdads Chinese no name MIG welder. Huge mistake, I didn’t know u needed a different welder for aluminum (which I selected „smartly“ to make my roof rack light weight). No idea how I managed to weld it together (ugly but it’s holding). Got so many stingy comments from my mates, so never did a big welding project again. However, the original rack is still on top of the Landy and just had to repair it once on a big offroad trip. Would be very excited to win the welder and give ‚roof rack 2.0‘ and many more projects a go. Keep up the great content. 🤙

after completely killing my engine and spending 12k+ on a rebuild, a welder would come in handy to start doing my own DIY builds at home. Helping the old man with his 4bie and my own. Creating our own barwork, snorkel, custom tray and much more. Plus, it will help start the garage transformation into our own workshed
