39:06 Unless I'm missing something on board (which is how it usually goes), I can see the line of thoughtcast with {1} floating, draw seat of the synod+bauble, tap mox and seat for foundry, still with {1} floating. If they daze you pay and play the second mox to sac itself to get the train going. It's unlikely, sure, but it's possible.
I feel like a Shadowspear somewhere in the 75 would be valuable. There were a number of situations where shadowspear would have really pulled its weight.
Loving this, Thopter Swords has been one of my most favoritest 2 card combos throughout the ages of MTG all the way back to the extended days and esper stoneblade/linger souls decks! Great video!
I'd be interested to see how a version of this with zero Ancient Tombs plays (and +Den/Seat/Bridge). There were so many situations in this league where it was just awkward either due to life or color, and multiples times where an additional artifact would have got you Metalcraft as well. And any artifact land still effectively counts as 2 mana for your 10 affinity cards anyway. Maybe Saga + Tomb is just too potent of a combo though, idk.
Waiting for the day magic online adds Clippy so it can say "I see you're playing out an infinite combo. Want to learn how to declare how many times you repeat this combo?" and then the game just crashes
I love this combo so much. I really like seeing it streamlined and focused, and staff, because my deck building always suffers from being pulled in too many directions. I keep thinking "Oh a Kappa would be great to punch through stuff and Sai makes more utility from thopters" and at that point someone has slapped the deck outta my hands. Definitely should have hopped on the all access weekend to get my fill
Feel like you kept a lot of speculative 1 landers vs UR delver. Without your own Ponders/Brainstorms it seems pretty risky, especially since your deck should probably win out more often than not if you just hit all your land drops. Great video though, always like your content!

Against Elves, Damping Sphere is an important card. It blanks 4 Lands in their deck, as well as shutting off any Glimpse line. It hurts this deck a bit, but not in the same impactful way as hurting Elves. EDIT: I didn't watch past the first sideboarding, you saw the importance!
What if you replaced some of the baubles in this list with chromatic sphere/chromatic star? That's what pauper tron does to fix its mana with its very colorless intensive lands package and it works out well. They don't give you as much explosive potential but does this list even need that when the sword/foundry combo gives you so much reliable endgame?
Thopter foundry extended was a blast back in the day, competing against hypergenesis and RW landfall, among other giants of the era. I was playing mono-red scam at that point, which was an entirely different type of scam than it is nowadays lol Here's what I remember off the top of my head: x4 Crack the Earth x4 Akki Blizzard-Herder x4 Seal of Fire x4 Rite of Flame x4 Desperate Ritual x4 Simian Spirit Guide x4 Fulminator Mage x3 Molten Rain x2 Avalanche Riders x2 Shivan Wumpus x2 Roiling Terrain I miss formats where rite of flame is legal, even if they're always degenerate. Nobody loved a T1 Shivan Wumpus, before your opponent even had the option to play a land, more than I do *Edit: corrected a card name, and improved formatting
That list killed SO many people by just attacking into an empty board with an SSG or Fulminator Mage over and over. Playing in a PTQ I went 5-1 in, one of my opponents opened on "Land, Bird" and proceeded to hit their land drop every turn for the next four turns of the game, but never got to 3 mana lol I remember the board being something like: x2 Relic of Progenitus (dredge, living end, goyf) x3 Sowing Salt (for tron? jund? I don't remember why) x3 Sulphur Elemental (soul sisters, Figure of Destiny, Student of Warfare, flickerwisp vial nonsense) x3 Stingscourger (Dark Depths or other scam lists) x4 Pithing Needle (they just name vial, hexmage, walkers, or fetchlands lol)
I kinda feel like 4 bridges is the way to go. Being a turn slower matters a lot less than just not having a land in this deck that otherwise gets smeared by wasteland. Especially when we struggle to make bauble work. Worse against combobut we arent going that fast anyway. How many turn 1 plays do we really have that dont involve tomb?
4 mana is a lot in Daze+Wasteland’s world. Being a blue legend vs Pyroblast and Karakas is rough too. You need to invest a lot in protecting him or winning as soon as he resolves.
You didnt need to play ancient tomb at 23:20, Tundra casts Staff, Mox Opal casts Emri. You just ended up with 1 mana floating. Did you counterplay wasteland?
At 43:56, you pitch Thought Monitor to FoW to preserve Thopter Foundy, but then at 50:50, your decision is reversed and you pitch Foundry to protect Monitor. I feel like the board states were pretty comparable, (Threats of fliers, no sword of the meek in GY) so what sways the decision?
Resources on the board, it would be possible to win with a sword of the meek off the top at 45 mins, but at 50 mins with resources to cast the thought monitor, the monitor is better than a thopter foundry with nothing else going for it.
Oh I didn't really think about the affinity cost not being paid. That being said I'm tempted to say I personally favor thopter in both situations regardless, since I feel it could keep you alive longer in most situations. Could be wrong tho.

It replaced itself, and made it so that multi-colour decks couldn't be punished. Any of the Moon effects and B2B were null and void. The card was bad for every format. All you needed to do was play Snow-Covered basics, and those don't have any cost to putting them into the deck.
This mana base is waaaaay to greedy. The number of times you were missing either 1 white or 1 blue and you had 1 or more ancient tombs in play just felt really really bad. The deck even really all that explosive, I'd rather be able to cast my spells than be stuck with imperfect mana.
