@@riggthompson2648 Despite the long shadow of grief and sorrow that looms over Columbine High School; the families of the thirteen lives lost that day are all doing their best to cope. Some survivors have turned their pain into purpose; for example, Kacey Johnson (née Reugsegger) is an advocate for bone and tissue donation. There are some tales from the Columbine High School tragedy that can give some people a reason to smile and believe in the good of humanity. In an interview with Hoda Kotb for the "Today" show on NBC; Beth explained that forgiveness isn't saying that it was okay that this happened, but forgiveness is instead giving yourself permission not to make this tragedy your life sentence. Before she met her; Beth said that she asked God what she was supposed to say to Sue, and God told her that she should ask Sue about who Dylan was before April the 20th of 1999. Some people see the today you will be with me in paradise as Jesus saying he’s telling them that today, but that it happens later. As in “I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise” - because the original text didn’t have punctuation. I heard M.W. Smith on an interview talking about how he first met Cassie's parents, how he wanted to be the strong support for them. Then, when he got there, he said he just bawled like a baby and they had to console him. But then, he told them this beautiful story how he came to have this interlude with bagpipes and wanted to know how they felt. 2024 Remembers the victims of this horrible tragedy. May every Year remember. We love you and will never forget you. Thank you Michael for a great song.
I think the problem with the school shootings that took after is that there's too much focus on the perpetrators and not enough on the victims. Do you agree?
That put tears down my face. I lived close to that school when this happened, and very vividly remember almost all of that day. And then learning about what she did for Christ and the other girl doing the same for Him. It just breaks my heart still and I am still so proud of them both. Will not ever forget it! Hope I teach my girls to be strong like that.
1st time I heard this song live was at the Franklin Graham crusade at the United spirit arena 1 year after columnbine, that song makes you think how dedicated am I to God
I remember he made this song for the beautiful children that lost their lives years ago. It's Halloween I was 17 years old when that happened and when those 2 boys asked them if they believed in God and they said yes, I do. That's what I knew they were in heaven. At that moment before the bullet even hit him. Jesus is truly amazing, father. If we just give him praise and love every day and show it to others. And if others would just open up their hearts, they didn't see what I just the amazing father Jesus is truly. Hes our king and he will forever reign.
I think of the message of this and it moves me deeply...appreciate your life and make sure you are right with God today...today is the only day we have, we don't know what tomorrow will bring. LIVE TODAY FOR GOD!
It's so hard not to shed a tear to this beautiful song and sad story. God Bless You Cassie and I pray that God is always with your friends and family. You are safe now. You are with our Awesome God in Heaven.
I love that Micheal dedicated this song to cassie as Jeremy Camp did for Rachel. Both songs honor the true spirit of adversity and the testing of one's faith in the midst of hardship. Both songs echo not being ashamed to proclaim the name of Jesus.
I'm currently in my uni study room listening to this and I actually had to stop writing my essay, hoping no one notice I''m in tears. The story behind it makes me so emotional.
It was in Honor of Rich Mullins. He died the same time Michael made this album. In tribute to Rich this song included his old band "The Ragamuffin Band"
The bagpipes where added as a dedication to cassie because they were her faviorte instrument he contacted her mother and asked if he could add them to this song because he felt like something was missing her mom had said " believe it or not thats cassies favorite instumemt and thus cassies bagpipes was included
It's amazing how people who weren't even there say that she was never asked that. Some people will do anything to bash christians even use this to do it. Trolls have nothing better to do which is disturbing they would sink low enough to use this in such a way. I only pray that if I was faced with a similar situation I would have the same strength she did. God bless her and she's more of an inspiration to more people that we can ever know.
Michael was so moved by the events of Columbine in April 1999 he wrote this song in a day. It was about a teenage martyr for Christ, it was Cassie's story. This is the anthem for those who have paid the ultimate price to follow their Lord and Savior.
Today in my homeschool with my children we learned about martyrdom and Roman times. I was able to share this story with them today and how Cassie stood up for God at the cost of her life. She should have been my age, raising her own kids- but she stood strong to testify God's love. And what a testimony of faithfulness. One day I will let her know the example she provided for me when I was younger, and now to my children.
Love the song, and love Cassie Bernall. Her struggle with religion mirrored my own. I could only hope of having the courage to say yes if a gun was pointed at me and was asked "Do you believe in God?"
+BTS TRASH How do you know Cassie would not have said if she had been asked? The truth is that she was never asked that question. All Eric said before he shot Cassie was, "Peek-a-boo!" You can't go bashing people over an action they did not have the opportunity to take.
DJCandyManMike I was trying to clarify and help them not be confused, So please do not assume I was 'bashing' someone over it. I know Eric said 'Peek-a-boo!' To her, but it was stated she was also praying. So please Stop assuming things.
+BTS TRASH By not pointing out that Cassie was never asked the question that Rachel was asked, and by simply saying that she did not say yes and simply prayed during the ordeal, you were implying that she was asked that question and did not answer it as Rachel had, which does look like bashing. If I had been in your place, I would have worded it like this: "The truth is, Cassie's story did not end the way Michael W. Smith, and even her parents, were led to believe it did. Cassie's best friend, who was under the table with her, has testified that Cassie was never asked whether she believed in God, and that Eric Harris simply said, 'Peek-a-boo!' before pulling the trigger. Cassie's friend also said that Cassie was praying while the ordeal was going on, so her faith was evident, but she was never asked that question that many believed she was asked, and that she responded to with a yes." Do you see the difference between that and the way you worded it?
I have grown up with this song, and God has spoken through it to me many times, yet I was 21 before I realised that the phrase he sings at the end is 'won't you save me', I always heard 'won't you send me'
This song hits me hard thinking of all the lives lost in recent years but the good news is God remains the same and he will see all that have accepted him in heaven one day we will see our loved ones again and what more could we ask for such an amazing promise ❤ 💙 💜 🙏 his love is unfailing its not goodbye its see u later
Even though I am an atheist, I have always thought this was a wonderful song. It's written very well, it conveighs a message, an idea that even though I don't subscribe to it, over a billion people do. Even without it's religious nature, there is still real meaning here, it speaks to the human experience. The vocals are simply amazing and the insturmentals are also very well done.
The whole song is about a love for God so strong that a young woman was willing to die for it. If God is subtracted, (the 'religious nature') she simply threw her life away for nothing and is worm food.
I was recently at a concert Michael did at my church. He told the story of Cassie and now watching this video; there aren't enough words in existence to describe it. Yes, I believe. I would like to think I could say that in the face of death, we all would. Cassie, I never knew you, but you are an inspiration of someone who walked a life led by God. You are Christlike. Thank you Michael for sharing her story in such a beautiful way. God bless you and this girl's family.
I just love this song because I sang it as a solo and as a tribute to my dad's mom who died in 1998. I am getting married next year and I will have my mom's memory ( our favorite song,Friends, which is also a favorite of mine too) put into the wedding ceremony as my special music and as the bride's entrance in the sanctuary of my church in Belleville, Illinois.
Glory to God! Faced with the question, what would YOU say? I am a child of the most high God. Would I die for Him. Absolutely! He died for me! HE IS MY LOVE.
I am learning the song 'Friends' on piano, because my friends at 'All Peoples Church', which used to be in Diamond Bar, CA, all joined forces to pray me OUT of a coma caused by a brain aneurism. My mom initially called both of my brothers and told them to hurry down to California if they wanted to say "goodbye" to me beFORE I die. "He's currently at Torrance Memorial, in Torrance, CA, where the neurologist said her mentor, Dr. Vespa, the neurologist at UCLA Medical Center could perform a NEW procedure that could save his life, but you have to HURRY!" Another neurosurgeon somehow found OUT about this conversation, calls my wife and says, "I've been practicing medicine for 25 years, so I know what works, and what does NOT work, and that procedure by Dr. Vespa will NEVER work!" My poor wife responded, "I'm CERTAIN you know more about this than I do, but we don't seem to have much of a choice!" Well, obviously, it DID work, because the person entering this information right NOW is that man. But for the rest of my life, I'm going to be quoted for what I said when the medical staff saw me open my eyes after 4 weeks in my coma, take a look at the weeping woman at my bedside, my wife of 17 years, and every medical person yelling out, "Wa-HOO!", and ask me if I recognize the woman. I said, "I'm not sure who she is, but I think I like her a lot." (Of course, I had to be TOLD that I said this, because I don't remember ever SAYING this!!!) To hear my story, search TH-cam for "Charles Frank Kurtz", then spread word that miracles still happen to this very DAY! MY being alive to even SAY 'Miracles HAPPEN!!!' is miraculous!!! (BTW, I now remember who my wife IS, just FYI!😆😅🤣😂)

I always wish that there will be a lot of people who is lost back again to Jesus.... I missed peace world 😢
I will never not cry when I hear this song.
No matter what did or didn't happen, still a pertinent and timeless song and message, dedicated to a beautiful and godfearing girl taken too soon.
Oh it happened.
Well, taken at just the right time. "For this reason Cassie was born"
@@kevinmcdonald951 It didn't.
This message is still true. Every single day.
It was a test we could all hope to pass
But none of us would want to take
Faced with the choice to deny God to live
For her, there was one choice to make
This was her time, this was her dance
She lived every moment, left nothing to chance
She swam in the sea, drank of the deep
Embraced the mystery of all she could be
This was her time
Though you are mourning and grieving with us
Death died a long time ago
Swallowed in life so that life carries on
Still it's so hard to let go
This was her time, this was her dance
She lived every moment, left nothing to chance
She swam in the sea, drank of the deep
Embraced the mystery of all she could be
What if tomorrow and what if today
Faced with the question oh what would you say?
This is your time, this is your dance
Live every moment, leave nothing to chance
Swim in the sea, drink of the deep
Follow the mercy and hear yourself praying
Won't you save me? Won't you save me?
This is your time, this is your dance
Live every moment, leave nothing to chance
Swim in the sea, drink of the deep
Embrace the mystery of all you can be
This is your time, this is your dance
Live every moment, leave nothing to chance
Swim in the sea, drink of the deep
Embrace the mystery of all you can be
This is your time
Won't you save me? This is your time
Won't you save me?
stop with the lyrics posts FFS.
Well that's not nice!
thank you for the lyrics.
What is your point?
Man the tears flow when those bagpipes hit! Still my favorite video to this day! Powerful song.
This song and the 11 students inspired courage in me to tell my classmates "I am a Christian." when I was 16.
I love song 🎧
2024 Remembers the victims of this horrible tragedy. May every Year remember. We love you and will never forget you. Thank you Michael for a great song.
I think the problem with the school shootings that took after is that there's too much focus on the perpetrators and not enough on the victims. Do you agree?
Absolutely one of the best Michael W Smith songs ever
Yes , it's unbelievably beautiful. Beyond belief. Precious.❤❤❤
REAL MARTYR RIGHT THERE
I just love this song, it makes me feel so full of the Holy Spirit and close to Heavenly Father!
What a legacy to leave behind. Thank you, Cassie!!!
AMEN
she was an amazing example of strength and loyalty to the Lord. we will see her in heaven soon.
Wasn't this written after Columbine? And she was one of the tragically murdered students? uggg I loved this song....

What an amazing tribute.
Cape Town live performance. Almost cried when he told the background of the song. Was just breathtaking🙏
What an amazing young woman Cassie was ... an inspiration to all! I can't wait to meet her in Heaven!
HES A FALSE TEACHER SADLY.
A😮he is gaer r any and I love 💕 song t

This song made my childhood. I use to sing it in every functions
I cried when I heard this song, I can't stop listening to it, the poor kids and teacher that were shot!
25 years RIP Cassie
It angers me that people kill others over believing in God. 😡
@@ghandigidgetpeople do all kinds of strange things when they don't follow the Lord 🙏
Here in 2024. Praying for whoever reads this.
Thank you Jesus!
One of Michael's best...Glory to God
I'm currently in my uni study room listening to this and I actually had to stop writing my essay, hoping no one notice I''m in tears. The story behind it makes me so emotional.
Love the bagpipes.....makes my heart beat stronger in this Irish Girl. Beautiful song and video.
Cassie was Irish? I thought she just liked the bagpipes. I didn't know she was Irish.
It was in Honor of Rich Mullins. He died the same time Michael made this album. In tribute to Rich this song included his old band "The Ragamuffin Band"
+cornerstone Tech, that is wrong, Rich Mullins died 2 years before this song was written, where on earth did you get your info from???
The bagpipes where added as a dedication to cassie because they were her faviorte instrument he contacted her mother and asked if he could add them to this song because he felt like something was missing her mom had said " believe it or not thats cassies favorite instumemt and thus cassies bagpipes was included
always makes me cry!! We need to every moment for Jesus Christ!
We struggle against principalities, powers and the spirit rulers of this present darkness.
Michael was so moved by the events of Columbine in April 1999 he wrote this song in a day. It was about a teenage martyr for Christ, it was Cassie's story. This is the anthem for those who have paid the ultimate price to follow their Lord and Savior.
I love 💘 g som song y 😊and he is gaerp
Today in my homeschool with my children we learned about martyrdom and Roman times. I was able to share this story with them today and how Cassie stood up for God at the cost of her life. She should have been my age, raising her own kids- but she stood strong to testify God's love. And what a testimony of faithfulness. One day I will let her know the example she provided for me when I was younger, and now to my children.
23 years ago today.
Saw Michael w.Smith four times in person Love You Michael!
Love the song, and love Cassie Bernall. Her struggle with religion mirrored my own. I could only hope of having the courage to say yes if a gun was pointed at me and was asked "Do you believe in God?"
I know this comment is 2 years old, But She didn't say 'Yes,' Val did. She was praying, She never said 'Yes.'
If faced with that same decision I would choose God over life
The little girl in the video speaks to me this now is God's time 🙏
Who is still listening in 2020?
I am !!!
I am!!
Who is still listening in 2024
Michael W. Smith, You are the only hope who can save God without even trying. 🙏🏾
I have grown up with this song, and God has spoken through it to me many times, yet I was 21 before I realised that the phrase he sings at the end is 'won't you save me', I always heard 'won't you send me'
Deus abençoe Michael W,suas músicas são lindissimas ouço desde 1990 direto do Brasil
The one who encourages michael to sing ,that isn't religion ,religion is usually dead ideas !to control the fact that men say no to jhvh
The whole song is about a love for God so strong that a young woman was willing to die for it. If God is subtracted, (the 'religious nature') she simply threw her life away for nothing and is worm food.
Beautiful song❤ timeless
K😊he is gaer and I love h song 🎉
In these times, Christians (myself included) really need to prepare to be able to answer the question...to give a reason for the Hope Who is in them.
We need to empty ourselves of ourselves. And let God fill us!
Listening in 2020 :(
I was recently at a concert Michael did at my church.
Awesome. God Bless the world.
Heart touching song. Very moving! Thank God for the song!
It's hard to believe this video does not have millions and millions of views.
Thanks Psalm 34
Glory to God!
Faced with the question, what would YOU say?
I am a child of the most high God. Would I die for Him. Absolutely! He died for me! HE IS MY LOVE.
MWS' greatest song of all time ❤️❤️❤️
Still listening to this song years later as we confront horrific gun violence in our country. Let's pray and act together to do what we can to end it.

M W S . What a talented and inspirational man he is.
Everyone, LEAVE A LEGACY for those behind you
I am learning the song 'Friends' on piano, because my friends at 'All Peoples Church', which used to be in Diamond Bar, CA, all joined forces to pray me OUT of a coma caused by a brain aneurism. My mom initially called both of my brothers and told them to hurry down to California if they wanted to say "goodbye" to me beFORE I die. "He's currently at Torrance Memorial, in Torrance, CA, where the neurologist said her mentor, Dr. Vespa, the neurologist at UCLA Medical Center could perform a NEW procedure that could save his life, but you have to HURRY!"
Another neurosurgeon somehow found OUT about this conversation, calls my wife and says, "I've been practicing medicine for 25 years, so I know what works, and what does NOT work, and that procedure by Dr. Vespa will NEVER work!"
My poor wife responded, "I'm CERTAIN you know more about this than I do, but we don't seem to have much of a choice!"
Well, obviously, it DID work, because the person entering this information right NOW is that man. I said, "I'm not sure who she is, but I think I like her a lot."
(Of course, I had to be TOLD that I said this, because I don't remember ever SAYING this!!!)
To hear my story, search TH-cam for "Charles Frank Kurtz", then spread word that miracles still happen to this very DAY! MY being alive to even SAY 'Miracles HAPPEN!!!' is miraculous!!!
(BTW, I now remember who my wife IS, just FYI!😆😅🤣😂)
