This remoteness has made Yonaguni a unique place imbued with a tragic past but also with traditions that have been lost in the large northern islands. There is also an endemic breed of small horses living in semi-freedom as well as curious underwater concretions which some say could be an ancient sunken city.
Between legend and reality, this 28 km2 stone has multiple facets including the discovery of a little-known Japan where we live outside of time.
