Been waiting all day for this video to release, Mexican Seafood is definitely one of my favorite song & tone. Every tone is almost identical, very hard to tell the difference between the recording.
@@NirvanaGuitars You’re welcome!! Also I found out some Eastwood hi-fliers are actually branded Univox so technically you have an actual univox just phase 4 instead of 3.
@@Georgeisjawa The newer ones say Univox on them, but mine says "Phase IV" on the headstock haha. I wonder how they got permission to put "Univox" on them
great like always, i'm actually getting my own eastwood hi-flier sometime next week, been wanting one for a long time. love your content dude, keep it up.
white strat eater here, here from the floyd the barber video, second time watching this one and, MAN is this really close! most of the time the tones can be a bit too bright, but i think you genuinely nailed it here.
These are all my favorite songs and era of Nirvana. There’s just something I dig about this period and how they wrote their songs during that time. I’m glad to see others are acknowledging and enjoying this period! 😊 Also my favorite drummer in Nirvana was Dale Crover as well. His approach was perfect and I loved his style of playing a lot! One of the coolest moments of my life was talking with him and the Melvins backstage! It was a surreal and unbelievable moment that I will never forget! 🤘
Hey, Eric! It dawned on me today! Harmoniously, the track «Oh, the guilt» is a continuation of the track «If you must». I watched your video again today on the day off, and then started playing «Oh, the guilt». The main chords are absolutely the same, but faster and the vocal line is rhythmically different! It can be an interesting reason for a video on your channel, I don’t know how to make content as cool as you, and I don’t have the opportunity, I’m at work now, I live in a truck. And for Nirvana fans it can be interesting
@@NirvanaGuitars yeah! Also I hope you keep making these videos I always learn more and more especially with such obscure things like the DOD Grunge pedal, if it weren’t for your video I would’ve never known that Kurt had one or that it even existed
Correction; Spank Thru did have a official release on a Sub Pop compilation in the mid-late 80s - early 90s, it was also later released on the Silver: Best Of The Box compilation also in 2005, also great recreation tone btw!
That’s the later version of Spank Thru, with Chad Channing on drums. This original version with Dale Crover has yet to be officially released. Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
This is such a fantastic tone, one of my favorites, no wonder he used the Randall for a decent chunk of time before gaining the Sunn Beta Lead II heads.
First of all I want to congratulate you for your work and your faithful transcription of the tone of Nirvana from this early period which remains deeply ingrained in my heart since my teenage cassettes of bleach and incesticide. Thank you very much for this my friend. Thank you also for your work on “if you must” with the DM2. I want to tell you that I often hear fans say that the peak of Nirvana was the in utero tour, and you say that too. Unfortunately, that’s not really it. Perhaps some fans attracted by the fact that the set was tighter with Pat's second guitar and that Kurt's face was visible and who only know live and loud may be seduced by that, but Nirvana at that time was the shadow of himself, I tell you, they had difficulty supporting each other and it was palpable, and there was no longer at all this energy, this cohesion and this fury of Kurt on stage that you could find in 1990-91 . I saw them live on the in utero tour at the time and I can confirm it to you. Their peak physical, composition and energy is 90-91. Paramount, garage sport seattle, first reading, for eternity. Keep up the work on your channel, I love what you do and I salute our brother Kurt here, if he can hear me. oh well..whatever..nevermind
It’s all a matter of personal preference and opinion. People have told me they think Bleach era is peak Nirvana. There is no right or wrong when it comes to something subjective like this 🙂 thanks for the support and kind words!
@@NirvanaGuitars You are totally right in that. I just wanted to share a feeling with you about that legendary band. But what is amazing with Nirvana is that you can even take a weak show of them, it will still always sounds better than everything else. Ahahaha. And even if I regret only saw them on in utero tour, it still stay till this present day, the best gig I attended in all my life, made me pick up a guitar coming back home and start my first band some weeks later. Keep on your good work and dedication bro👌
Forever jealous that you saw Nirvana live!! Any stand out memories from the show you saw? Thank you so much for watching and for commenting, always love hearing other fanatic’s perspectives 🙂
I was studying when I found this video. It had been hours since the video was posted. I watched it and, well, let's just say I wasn't studying anymore. All the video's are incredible and introduced me to amazing pre-Bleach songs such as Pen Cap Chew and If You Must. Amazing. Can I suggest a video on all of Dale Demo's but with a Nevermind style? (Featuring the delay pedal?)
wow! once again spot on! also i wanted to know something, for kurts bleach tone, is it just the hi-flier? or is there more to it? im looking to try and recreate that tone and im not sure what i need. Great vid man keep up the awesome content!
Thank you! There are 5 Incesiticde songs in this video 😉 I'll recreate all the songs session by session, and when the whole album is done I'll put them all together in a compilation video!
@@NirvanaGuitars that sounds great! Love your videos man been watchin em since forever, trust me if i had a buck I'd sure as hell support you but im broke as hell 🥲, i had another question, are you planning on doing a Argentina 1992 tone recreation? There are some high quality recordings of that show, and it has 3 different guitars on it and an interesting setlist so i think you could maybe get a cool tone video out of it?
Damn it! I would have had a DS-1 pedal 8 years ago. I don't remember how it sounded anymore. I recently bought a DS-1 clone from Rowin and there's exactly the same strange fuzz sound at the maximum dist settings. It's like an octave fuzz is sounding, second harmonics 😃
Same 😍 Haven't had the urge to get a vintage Univox yet because this one does a great job at covering the ground for all the Bleach/pre-Bleach/Fecal Matter tones I've thrown at it
Hi, I wanted to ask you for advice. I should change the strings on my Fender Jaguar. Which strings do you recommend? Which strings does Kurt use for the Fender Jaguar? keep it up, your videos are beautiful and I always learn new things
Make your videos with tabs man I know some Nirvana but I'd like to learn some more like The chorus to lounge act just as an example great work And dedication to Kurt's work
I really really love these songs, Mexican Seafood, Aero Zeppelin, Hairspray Queen not in this list but Big Long Now very dark, grungy songs they differ so much from 90's nevermind and in utero.
I think live Nirvana has it mixed up on show dates for the randall commander. The o tubbs show he is playing a randall rg100es. I think personally this might have been the amp on those sessions and the commander came after. But I could be wrong I dont think there is a difference in the clean sections on either amp as randall was founded by don randall (ex fender employee) Pretty much same as the mesa pre amp the randall clean section is a twin copy
glad a man is using the Correct SG-like beauty Guitar hell with boring lame Generic StratoFenders also big Thumb Up for PAPER CUTS their tragically underrated DoomGrungyMetallic sinister Beauty
Hi, do you gonna do a video on the Kurt Cobain Jazzmaster, yes not the jaguar but the Jazzmaster, there's photos of the guitar in a museum I think but I don't ever seen him with a jazzmaster 🤔
Strange, i have the same strange huming (We can hear it on mexican seafood), but only when i use my ds2 I think it’s a common issue with Ds1/ ds2, especially with high output pickups

Nice cover love the sound of this early nirvana
