Yeah I'm predjuced from being a boy watching Weismuller as Tarzan but to me this story plot is still the best showing a mans love for his woman and this escape as proof to me the greatest of all time = makes him the greatest still...!!!
My favorite Tarzan movie. That Brooklyn Bridge scene has never been topped. Between Weissmuller, some skilled stuntmen, tight editing and a fantastic special effect, makes it totally believable.
I recommend watching George of the Jungle. The stuntman tops this by swinging off a waterfall for the biggest swing in jungle history. He swings so fast his face blows back and then smashes into a tree.

Those cops chasing Tarzan on the Brooklyn Bridge for escaping from the courthouse certainly didn't have the courage to chase Tarzan into the East River after they saw him make a 200 ft dive.
Johnny Weissmuller is not only the greatest Tarzan ever. He's the only Tarzan that I ever liked to watch. Rest In Peace Mr. Weissmuller. You will never be forgotten.
Weissmuller was an Olympic swimmer. He was the real thing. Few men now are like him. He was the Clark Gable type. And could do a lot of his own stunts.
Johnny Weissmuller was cool as Tarzan. He was before my time but I remember seeing his Tarzan movies on TV. I always enjoyed how he would talk to the animals and fight Alligators 🐊. And win! I heard he was a great athlete and Olympic swimmer 🏊♀️ too! He looked very strong and tall. And I liked his Tarzan yell!

At age nine, Weissmüller contracted polio. At the suggestion of his doctor, he took up swimming to help battle the disease. After the family moved from Western Pennsylvania to Chicago, Weissmüller continued swimming and eventually earned a spot on the YMCA swim team. What a hero!!!

Saturday morning tv as a kid in the 70's was great here in the UK. You woke up, had brekkie, read your comics that were delivered with the newspaper, watched shows like Tarzan, Planet of the Apes, Banana Splits, The Monkee's, Wacky Races, Scooby Doo, Champion the Wonder Horse, Black Beauty and many many more before you went out to play all day at Soldiers or climbing tree's or plain ol' football in the roads because there were hardly any car owners. Great times but you never see kids today out playing like we had it nor the great tv shows without all the stupid CGI. Great days.
I’m 70. I loved these Tarzan movies. I remember the Ju Ju would capture safari people and tie them to 2 trees that were bent over and help by ropes. Then they would cut them to rip them apart.
