The Skyline that I ordered came today. I didn't open like I thot it should. I took it apart. I didn't see any extra parts. Or broken ones. I watched your great video. Then I went back and checked the package. MANUAL. Oh, well. I have a lot of Speedsafes, so if one ever does break I'll know how to fix it. Thank you for posting this.
Woow working on MY sons Kershaw. Torsion rod broke and his tip is snapped. I started disassembling and saw pieces falling....thanks for the video!!! 1st one I spotted with my problem. Subscribed!!! I didn't know they existed haha
I just replaced my torsion bar but after reassembling the knife, the knife still doesn’t open the last 1/4. It definitely has its spring back and tension when closing, but the knife just won’t open at the speed it did. What am I doing wrong? Does it need to be greased?
Great video. About the "torsion bar", they can call it whatever they want for marketing, but it is NOT a torsion bar. It is just a spring. Properly made, a spring should be good for thousands of flexes without breaking. Someone below mentioned a wrist flick, but I can't see how that would change anything for the spring. It would likely put extra force on the pivot and wear that out.
@@avata2fotage I believe wrist flicking is when you and a little flick with your wrist on top of the finger action used to flick a knife open. If you are bending and moving your wrist in the direction of the blade travel you are wrist flicking.
My torsion bar was broke in 4 pieces when I opened It up. I had the knife for about a month. I flick mine open a lot tho maybe that has something to do with it.
My pocket clip was on so tight I stripped 2 torque screw tools amd finally gave up ,then I wanted to change the pocket clip to a different position and had to cut a slot in the screw and had to use a screwdriver to get it out .
2:39 I beg to differ the there is the least amount of tension on the torsion bar on my kershaw 1985ST in the half way open position of the knife. This is just the one I have though and could be different.
It's possible, I'd go to Kershaw customer support site and order a new torsion bar, get some white lithium grease and just replace it. It could be gunked up, but might as well put a new one in there if you're gonna test it apart.
I fixed the torsion bar but now I can not get the knife to lock any suggestions? it seems the blade is just a hair to low but nothing I do can get it high enough for the lock to engage?
My Kershaw Cryo 2 just broke like that, considering that I got it new a week ago. And I am from urope, so I don't think that Kershaw will send me a replacement torsion bar

Thanks. I was about to throw out my cryo that I just got. Took it apart and reassembled and it works great now.

Don't flick/wrist flick the knife open and your pivot will never have issues. This will also prevent the T bar from breaking.

Very good. If you don't have locktite, you can use a little super glue GEL. Not regular sglue. GEL.
when i put mine back together, the liner keeps protruding and rubbing against the blade. do i need to add some grease? or is this another issue?

Is the t bar universal between all kershaws?
Mine broke in exactly the same place in exactly the same way. Must be either a design or materials issue.
Times must be tough now. I’m three weeks into waiting for a kershaw parts order

That's what happened to my cryo right before it broke.
@@Zelrick42 just clean it thoroughly and extremely light oil if any and it will fire away. T Bars are springs and springs don't wear out.

Stephen, all I would know to to is disassemble it and try again. Some times that's all it takes to fix these things.

lol mine broke by 2 weeks. i think its from SLOWLY closing the knife and the torsion bar popped. bought another one....these arent 100$ knives...

I've called kershaw and even emailed them. No torsion bars available. So, I'll never buy another knife from them again.

I had less than 50 on mine and it broke
