Almost every reviewer keeps referring to these being city cars. You two are the only ones I've seen show that these are fantastic cars for rural areas too. It's a 26km round trip to my nearest shop and 50kms to the nearest supermarket here in rural Portugal. 90% of my monthly driving is less than 60kms per day. I hate getting my petrol car out, just to drive a few kilometres. I still use full tank every month. I'm definitely buying an Ami. They're €7,000 here after subsidy, but it's still an absolute bargain. Great seeing you two use yours in every situation. Lots of hills here too.

I just love this vehicle, the simplicity and fun. The issue living in south of Sweden is that the car infrastructure is made exclusively for normal cars. And every year people are driving bigger and heavier cars, especially now with the huge batteries in all-electric vehicles (2ton+). On rural roads people drive at 70km/h, but more often than not they exceed the limit at 100km/h, which would make me super uncomfortable in an Ami. It's a real shame, I wish car traffic was more restricted to highways. while the traffic infrastructure for city traffic and rural roads would use more vehicles like these.
I can definitely see the Ami being exceptional in other places, especially in southern Europe, where roads are narrow and speeds are naturally limited just by the roads themselves. Which I think is perfectly showcased in this video. It's a shame such a solution isn't an option here. The Ami isn't even sold here by understandable reasons. And since I want to avoid owning a car, my solution has been bicycle, bicycle trailer, electric skateboard, and public transit. It serves 99.99% of my previous car use. I can do most things with bicycle + trailer. The electric skateboard is super easy to bring on transit, but has a downside of being quite heavy and I am unable lock it up and leave it like a bicycle. But for all the cases when I have clear destination. Like visiting my brother, mother etc. the train + skateboard makes a lot of sense. :)

Guys, what a fun and beautiful trip. Beautiful images of Eze in a beautiful dreamy golden glow of the sun. Getting a fine is always annoying, but comfort yourself with the thought that in the Netherlands a ticket for incorrect parking starts at €100, excluding €9 administration costs. Unnecessarily honking the horn for €400 and holding a smartphone for €350. We can hardly wait for the next video to be online with another fun trip. We wish you a very nice week with beautiful and surprising moments. Kind regards, Alex and Nathalie

Bonne route !

Another really enjoyable video. i came across your channel because of searching for Citroen Ami videos. I am very interested in getting an Ami myself as I currently own a Renault Twizy which although faster has much less room for a passenger and not as weatherproof. I can't wait for your long trip to start, I think you will find it easy to get a charge at restaurants, bars and some shops and even at people's houses. People are more inclined to help you out than if you had an electric Audi or Mercedes, and ran out of charge, I now carry a 15 metre waterproof mains extension lead in case of emergency. I also bought a charger adapter lead so I can use the more common Type 2 public charging points and recommend that you do the same. I expect you have the excellent Zap Map App on your phones to locate charging points, and you can also get information about ones that are out of order. I agree with the previous person that left a comment, Velcro is the way to go for securing your interior light, I got mine from Amazon too. Good luck with your travels and very best wishes from one micro electric car user to another!

The AMI reminds me of Sponge Bob Square Pants so maybe you could call it Uncle Bob. Climbing those grades with 2 adults aboard is pretty impressive. Someone will come up with a mod to give you a climbing 'gear' that should take some of the strain off your motor. If you do similar climbs when it is hot out, remember to give Uncle Bob frequent breaks as heat will shorten the life of your battery & motor.

Citroens like the 2CV were famous for their soft suspensions. How does the AMI compare? Those speed bumps seemed very noticeable but I guess they are supposed to be. A super upgrade would be a new windscreen which has an openable flap at the bottom like the 2CV had. I think that would dramatically improve ventilation. The 2CV flap had a mosquito screen to keep the bugs out but I don't know about rain. While we are at 2CV-izing the AMI, maybe the rooftop glass could be replaced by a vinyl roll back top like the 2CV and Dyane had!

Shades of the simplicity of the original French peasant's car - the minimalist 1948 2CV - would only do 60 kph - 45 on hills.
Flap up windows, all flat glass, a dip stick instead of a fuel gauge and the speedo cable drove the wipers.

Really sorry but the motorway scenario really made me laugh out loud. For a long time on the cote d'azur I cycled walked or hitched. Traveling down there in cars it was always let's say peaved off when encountering a faux tour de France, that is a team of cyclists in full gear taking up both sides of the road so I am so happy the Ami might slow the racing freaks out. Also slowing other motorists might not be such a bad thing. As for a name for the car, maybe Hilda after your aunt, or one of the characters of Friends (Ami, get it) Monica Ross..... I used to work with Architect Will Alsop who won the competition to Design L'Hotel du Departement des Bouches du Rhône in St Just, Marseille!
The 3rd round of the competition (That was not envisaged!) was between Norman Foster & Will Alsop (Two British Architects!) Will Alsop won because I think that Norman Foster arrived in Marseille in his private jet and said to the client that he had a slot out of the airport at a certain time and could they accommodate him! The president of "Le Conseil Générale des Bouches du Rhône" was not very impressed so Will , who was a "bon vivant" and did not have a private jet got the job?
