    Wow! That car looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Either it was in a time capsule, or it’s about the best restoration I’ve ever seen. My first car was a medium brown 57 beetle that I bought from a neighbor in 67.

      My 3rd car was a '57 Beetle in early 60's. Traded it for a 1972 Gran Torino wagon when we had too many kids.

    Magnificent. Absolutely magnificent. And you were just showing off going under the engine to display no dripping oil😜. Engine was immaculate! But please, please lose the dishrack on top of the car. It just ruins the sleek, clean lines of this beauty. I owned several bugs, the earliest being a '67. The sound of that engine is sweet music to my ears! Love the car!

    My mother had one just like that, selling it when I was 4. I still remember the wheel tipped accelerator, the tinted visor and seeing the gasoline nozzle going into the trunk. With the filler under the hood and no engine, a car like this could make a millennial service attendant seriously anxious. I also remember "running out of gas" and wondering why my parents could keep driving; only later did I learn about the reserve tank in lieu of a gauge. Nice car. VW found so many subtle ways to uglify them in the 1970s.

    • @PRH123
      @PRH123 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That the gas gauge could be on empty and the car still running mystified many kids. I remember when I was 5 my mother exasperated with my questions on the subject telling me that a car can still run for awhile on the battery after the gas has run out :)

    I have a brazilian built 1994 VW beetle 1600 (2 carbs) which i use as my daily vehicle and i'm also slowly restoring the interior (engine end mechanics are 100% complete, exterior is just misssing some minor details)

    My gramma had one of these in her teenage years, and she was mad that she didn’t get the color that she wanted, she drove that poor car off a cliff into a lake that only had 6km on it, we found this out when we filed a report for the “stolen car” apparently her father and mother used a whole year worth of salary on it. And then after that she cried to them to buy her another one which they did and she totaled it the next month by letting her boyfriend “borrow” the car whenever he’d like, turns out he used the car to cheat on her as well. Man she was one spoiled brat.

    I bought a 57 VW from the original owners in 1962. Drove it for 4years and about 200,00- miles. This car appears all original - wiper blades are not correct and it us mussing the fiber board liner in the front boot(luggage compartment ).

    This beautiful edition TO the '57 lineup has made some new owner a very " happy camper".....Aren' t these "raspberry" taillights an enlarged size from the ' original " strawberry" taillights in the 40's & early 50's ?? The 'raspberry' types had a reflectorized middle lense ; where as the original 'strawberry' lights had none.

    my mom and dad had a vw it was like a late 59-62 white I have always slept in the back seat when i was like 3 to about 7. We moved from georgia to california in that vw. We went to my grandmas and step grandma one time the car started to bult and jerk. Keith had to come and get us the vw has had it. We had to use his 1969 or early 1970s opel for like 4 months. Vws will run and run and run only thing they want is to be cared for simple oil checks lubed ecc

    • @TheOzthewiz
      @TheOzthewiz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jim. I took my driver test in a ’56 (same as '57) in 1959 at the age of 15. My father paid $1200 for it. I passed the road test with 71, totally failed the parallel parking test because there was no rt side mirror and the TINY rear window was useless. Had problems with 6volt battery dying. Sometimes to start it I would push it with the driver door open, get it up to 4mph, hop in and pop it into gear. It would fire up EVERY TIME! We sold it a year later (to an imported dealer) for $900. It was just too impractical for American highways at the time. Top speed on a good day(without a headwind) was about 58 mph, LOL! Would love to have one today as a city car. BTW, the engine was a 1200cc 30HP with a FULLY synchro 4-spd transmission. CHEERS!

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in EU :-( In Germany the Green party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one single state operated central gasstation per city or county. :-((((
