  • We went out with Kevin from Deep Rig Tackle to test out a pattern we'd been hearing rumours about. Fishing for kings on bottom in 250 feet. In this video, we cover a few techniques to get your baits down that deep.

RC Scott was the pioneer on deep kings 250 ft plus 40 years ago. Nice to see guys fishing them like this today 🤙

Curious as to what size deep rig, Tackle cut bait, you are using a 5 inch or 6 inch which seems to be the preferred size?

      Pole setter.
I apologize for the late reply. Unfortunately we’ve had to step away from the water this spring. I honestly have confidence in both sizes. I typically run the smaller size if just using a single treble hook but know several guys that add a trailer side wash to dangle just behind the bait when using the large size when looking for a larger presentation especially when fishing deeper.

Subscribed. Thanks for the great info. Just starting out on salmon fishing and losing so many fish due to the spiney water fleas!. There has to be a way around this! Do you have tips aside from smacking rod on the water? I've tried flea flicker lines and whatever else I've found online and have had to pull in fish with my bare hands because the fleas prevent me from even reeling when they clog in the lead eyelet! Rods with bigger eyelets? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

I saw a method where you can remove them with a micro-fiber towel by going around the flea clump and plucking them.

@jimlem2075 I also saw that after posting this and it does work. It's not perfect but so far it's the nest solution I've found. Cheers

      Sorry for the delay
We typically use 30 pound mono which tends to keep the fleas off as the line is too thick for them to get stock to if we are just running our flashers we run straight 30 mono to the swivel although if we have our spoons out we will put a 20 to 30‘ litre of 20 pound floral carbon.

@@tyrodo That is dumb, I'd bet half the SSC TH-cam subscribers don't have Instagram like myself. YT short said all you need is to be subscribed to the channel . . . Thanks @tyrodo for posting this I'll let my 4 other friends know 🤷‍♂️
