2:00 16 years later, I discovered the "so am I down" line that I never noticed before
I always thought that it was a backround noises lol
The only thing I noticed about it was the “so” but then the main vocals kinda made the rest hard to hear
I thought it was just "so am I" in the background, never had heard the "down". I also just discovered the bridge riff is also played in the last chorus, there's so much going that I never heard that
Never knew it was "DOWN" I could clearly hear SO AM I..."
I wanna see Track Break-Down on CHUCK album!
Next year man, next year XD
YESSS
VictoryRoad04 their masterpiece yeah.. let's pray for Chuck who Die to save SUM41 Life..
@@ramblingrenegade6346 It's 1 year already
@@mohitrahaman And Chuck is 15 years old... Yeah I think it ain't happening...
This guy recovered SO good from that alcohol! This band will live forever.
Yeah ,
Yeah ,
Good for him. That's a tough beast to wrangle
Yeah ,
Yeah ,
Never noticed the "So am I down?" harmony.
Me either! All I heard was the "so" part lol
I just thought it was Dave and Cones harmonizing.
plz, more track breakdowns
Fuck yeah!
Pat MacDonald I agree this is awesome.
YESA
3:00 I would've gladly paid money just to hear that aggressive af guitar isolated from everything else. It, paired with the vocals, is what gives the song its aggression.

Guitar
These multitracks are on youtube, just search "still waiting (guitar only)"
I don’t know why but I feel like every artist or producer that talks about their tracks always uses all their force to hit the spacebar haha
Bryan Contreras Shawn McMahon (former producer for slipknkt) would pummel his spacebar during our classes.
i think when they are recording it like that, they do it to sync up the audio. even though here they really didnt do a good job of syncing
@@GigglebunsUV Im a producer, and it happens because the space bar is used to play, stop, and stop when youre actually recording. Its one of the things we use the most, after the mouse i think 🤣
@@SebastianJeri yeah, i am also a producer. i know the space bar is used for that, but I was implying why they hit it so hard, not why they hit it in general
@@GigglebunsUV i mean, because all the time we need to do things really quick, and that makes us hit it harder i think :v
Track break down of "We're all to blame", this song is just perfect for me
4:30 And of course... *THE* riff.
So gnarly
Reminds me of papa roach
1. Here's the guitar.
2. Here's the vocals.
3. Story time.
They have always been labelled as pop punk band but I’ve always admired that undertone of thrash / classic metal in their guitar playing.
Dave…👀
Yep especially in this album and chuck. If you haven't noticed, "the bitter end" is almost a phrase for phrase homage to Metallica's "battery."
WOW that lead guitar riff coming back in the last chorus! Never noticed it before, so cool.
2:59 master of puppets?
why is this not a series? would watch it all night
Such an intelligent guy. Considering the content of his earlier songs, it really catches you off guard.
One of my favourite things about mixing is how when solo’d, things like a guitar can sound thin (riff), but when it’s in the context of the mix and the bass is filling out the low end, it sounds amazing.
Damn Deryck. This is like such a dream come true. I used to listen to these tracks back when I was a teen and really tried to figure all the elements in them. It's so awesome that you're now doing these session break-downs and revealing the parts. Please do more! Cheers from Europe
I was in “goddam I’m dead again” music video and I’ve also met them a few times, got to hear they’re stories and they’re just overall great guys! Derek is just pure greatness. The recovery and dedication he’s put into music and these albums, it’s crazy in the best way
Man, I always loved sum 41 and other Punk artists. And it’s probably dumb to the obvious , but until I saw this video . I never new that the chorus had that nice harmonized melody . “So am I down?” First heard this song 15 years ago
Deryck I love these videos. Please do not stop making these!
PS PLEASE COME TO PORTLAND, OR FOR YOUE NEXT TOUR I’D PAY $500 FOR A TICKET. Thanks for highlighting my comment :)
Brett Parsons I 2nd that
Love them!!! Super interesting
Still Waiting - THE MOST favourite track of mine, for 13 years knowing alternative and punk music I've NEVER deleted it from my playlist. Every single time it goes through my body, engulfing me and giving me an infinite energy!!! I hope that in the future my favourite band will make such songs as this with energetic screaming Deryck's vocal! STILL WAITING FOREVER!!!
This. This.
I actually really liked No Brains and Mr. Amsterdam, but the singles from the album were great too. It was a really great thing from beginning to end.
Very proud of you brother, I'm 34 grew up with your music... Glad your here better than ever

My favorite group want to see you in Mexico city
What a great insight into one of my favorite songs from you guys. Keep up the great work!
I love sum41
what i like about sum 41 is they don't repeat the way they sound from they previous album. they've always change. different album, different sounds.
Of course he doesn't isolate the bass for a sec...OF COURSE
Nobody hears the bass Anyway
@@randyrrs7028 no but we all feel it none the less
LOL
Man as a bass player i feel this album had the most bass vibe in their discography
Don't need bass anymore, just drop tune the rhythm guitar, tape up the bottom 2 strings to mute them and go. Lead will fill in the rest. (I'm definitely joking so don't get all butthurt)
Greatest modern band. Incredible versatility and endurance. All around great talent.
Just more than awsome
This is so cool. Please make more!
I love these videos so much! It's so cool to see how much stuff is in a song that you don't consciously hear, until it's pointed out, like the "So am I down?" I didn't hear it before, but I do now!
This is such an awesome video! We

I love these vids, they’re always so interesting!
I like how every artist that breaks down their tracks totally doesn't remember how they did it, and they have to act like they know but really they are figuring it out with us.
Im enjoying these videos, gotta do more
So great you finished the song, it made me buy the album in an instant!
