This is so true. I remember getting my first skateboard in 4th grade and never thinking I would be able to do tricks. I did give up. Then I got back into it around 8th and 9th grade (about a year ago) and I started practicing from the beginning and just started comitting to skating. I eventually learned a lot of tricks and never thought I would of ever been able to do this. I swear Aaron is right when he says never give up it works! Thanks Aaron!
This actually inspired me so much, ive been skating for about 4 months and ive thought about quitting so many times just because i couldnt do a trick and ill watch these videos and they always inspire me instantly to want go back and try it again and again, thank you aaron!
I first skated when I was 8 years old, but I quit because I thought it was too difficult. I'm 14 years old now. When I came across your videos it inspired me to pick skateboarding up again. What I once thought was hard and hopeless has now become a lifestyle for me. With hard work and persistence, I learned every trick up to varial kick flips. I just want to say thanks your for influencing me to begin skating again and never give up on a trick because tomorrow might just be the day that you conquer it!
I totally know that feeling! I have been skating off and on for years, it wasn't until I was willing to savor the small victories that I started to progress.
Hey Aaron i have been skating for years on and off and in the past two years i picked it up and right now I'm stuck but this video made me tell myself that I'm not stuck and i can keep going thanks for that your awesome
Hey man, i used to think like that years ago and i quitted, so i came back to skating when i watched your videos and it was successful! i just wanna say thanks aaron you're an inspiration!
this is soo true and really impressive that soo much can be broken down from just the fact of "not being able to land that trick" i havent been able to skate for 18 months now cause i have been in hospital but now that im finally out i started just rolling on my board and doing simple things like manuals and everyday i make myself manual that little bit further and it honestly makes me feel like im getting back into things :)
I did what you explained in the beginning, gave up with tricks and just used the board to ride around town sometimes, and came back about 2 years later. All I could do before was simple ollies and boneless. I came back a week or two ago, and learned how to kickflip, dolphin flip, shuv, 180, varial flip, and much more. and I learned all of that within a week or so. I did get SMS 1, which did help, but your youtube videos help a lot as well. Thanks for that. The only thing that sucks is here in Battle Creek, MI there is only one skate park, which is super sketchy, under a bridge, very few obstacles, and not safe at all. Still good enough to learn though.
have you ever done a video series on how to film skateboarding with explanations about the right equipment, how to light up spots or at least how you and your crew lights up spots at night?
Thanks for your videos Aaron, they have seriously helped me so much but I still don't feel confident enough to hit the skate park as I feel ill be called a kook or something. I really want to go to push my skating but the fear takes over... Any advice? Thanks again!
I use this strategy everyday! this is how I learned kickflips, and I motivated my self to not stop skating without landing at least one kickflip. it can be sketchy in anyway, but I improved as I used this strategy.
Thanks Aaron this actually helped me so much you encouraged me to start skating and now you've encouraged me not to quit. Thanks man and #pushskateboarding
Words of wisdom, Aaron. Funny, today I was practicing kickflips and I came soo close but just couldn't land them. So I changed my goal from landing them to just perfect the spin and have the board land on its wheels every time. And I ended on one such successful attempt. So yeah, nice timing with the video.
I do the same thing you did with the 5-stair kickflip with my heelflips. `cause I suck at heelflips big time but I always do SMS1 as a warm up and I don`t seriously start skating until I`ve done all the tricks that are covered in it including the heeflip. :)
I can do fs and bs boardslides really well, both to regular and to fakie, so i know i was ready to learn bs feebles. I practiced them a few times earlier but i only could get onto the rail and it would dip down. Today i actually figured out how to hold a grind but i couldnt come out of the trick. I wish i landed it but i was exhausted. So even though i didnt land it i still see it as progression which is a win for me.
I been trying to kickflip for awhile but I do a kickflip it clean but I land with my back foot only plz help if u made a video I think I would help a lot of people thank u you guys are the best 👏
don't give up always leave on a trick u can land and u feel better bc you can do that never give up on skating its not hard just commit to ur tricks and believe you will land and get it and you will
I love and completely agree with this video, but the part about Aaron not leaving until he kickflips the five stair isn't always good to do. Half the times I force myself to land a trick, I start to progress backwards and I'm trying my hardest when I'm not doing it properly and the next day I look at it that it was way to hard.
Hey aaron im a huge fan of you're channel and i love skateboarding made simple vol 5 but one problem i spent about a month and a half on varials because you did not talk about the timing on the flick and how its a little delayed i flicked to early for a month and a half so i love you're channel ,just in your videos to come please talk about the timing if the motions. Thanks aaron!
How do you get the 360 pop shuv rotation i just cant get more than 270. I have practiced the practice steps on SMS 5 and have my foot in the pocket and have practiced scooping but i cant get the power
i love skateboarding :3 Im riding about 4 years no with 1 year break-time because i broke my Achille :D (or something like that) and im happy with my tricks im laerning now tre flips and i never give up (im trying them like for 1-2 months) and for all of you if you like and enjoy skateboarding dont give up its a key to sucess and u will be happy when u land ur trick ! :)
Hey I have been working on kickflips and I landed a few on carpet but when I went to the streets I can't seem to get it, what can I do to help me land it??? #pushskateboarding thanks!
I've got all the previous tricks down and even some other ones but now I'm working on kickflips and whenever I flick I know I'm flicking up but I keep flicking to much off the nose so it flips to slow no matter what I try I can't flick near the concave. Can anyone please help or tell me what to do to change my muscle memory
I have a problem:(, 2 weeks ago i could drop in ollie up big curves, but one day i fall in the drop in and ollieing a curve i went home, and since then I'm scared to do these things again, can annyone help me?:( (sorry for the ortography, i'm from spain ^-^)
kickflips are the hardest trick to learn. Flick harder and commit. When you flick hard you dont commit cos you think your gonna slip out but when you commit you don't flick hard enough because you unconsciously don't want to make the full flip. practice holding the board with your hand on the side and flipping it and jumping and landing on it. it helps commitment. also put your front foot a lot closer to the heelside edge of the board when you flick so it flicks faster and kickflips lower so the board lands after the kickflip then you can be more confident to land on it. most important is to just hold it and flip it the jump and land. hope this akes sense and helps you please comment subscribe and like as i will have more vids up soon.
to everyone who is having trouble with kickflips, try something different . for example , i changed the way I pop after a couple months of failure . everyone told me to pop a certain way but it didn't work for me . so instead of having my foot on the edge of the tail , I tried moving it closer to the centre by about an inch and landed a really clean kickflip . trust yourself ! try new techniques !
One day I got my kickflip... but I got sooo excited that I told my brother and I was so tired that I went to sleep but the next day I wasnt able to get it... and since then I regret... I should have tried the trick again and again and again... Now I still cant do it
😧Been skating for ever and is like part of my life and the only thing I can do is ollie and powerslide. Everyday I try something thats easy and new but just cant but I just love skating so much just knowing one day ill able to do them.
Keep it up bro! You will Improve if you skate everyday and try your best. I am learning how to ollie while moving and when I land it I feel amazing. Practice makes perfect. :)
nah dude I've watched you skate with these eyes man your getting better every time dude your actually one of my favorite skaters keep it up mane R.I.P. SIR
I HATE KICKFLIPS !! xDD i can do a lot of tricks like heelplips inward heels all shove its sometime i land a 360 flip. but i cant land kickflips. and i cant do backside ollies. i dont know why. i land sometimes backside heelflips but cant do backside ollies...
Can someone help, I've been trying kickflips for 4 months straight, I flick down. I've tried on many occasions to flick up but no matter how hard I try I just can't, can anyone help me with this problem? ;(
if you can Ollie you can do the kik flip man don't say u cant bc u can just Ollie and change your foot position to kikflip and flick out on the pocket bro if its still hard then practice the flick only and watch the skate supports
Hey, I had the same problem! For 2 and a half years I couldn't kick flip so i quit for a year. I came back and tried the heel flip and got it within an hour. The heel flip forces you to kick up. I then got so used to flicking up that when i tried the kick flip, i got it 3rd try! It will take about 2 months to land the kick flip every time, but just keep practicing!
i need help i been riding around for about a month now and im trying to ollie now alot of the time my back foot keeps land on the ground i can pop really high its just my back foot comes off
It's because you're not committing. I had the same problem but I just tightened my wheels so they can roll and that helped me feel more confident. (Idk if you should try that cause it might mess it up). So just push yourself and you'll eventually get it :)
i have a good idea for a video idk if you wanne try it but i think itd be cool a game of s.k.a.t.e and h.o.r.s.e. at the same time ex: do an ollie then a bank shot
Sometimes you can do everything right, but the timing of all the steps together can be a little off and you won't land the trick. How to practice timing in itself? You probably can't. You just have to do the right movements over and over again, strugle, fail the trick until you master the timing through sheer trying and failing. So, what you're saying in this video is only true to some extent.
I was a good builder for Lego's than I tried skating and I stopped for 9 months cause I hurt my self bad and I didn't want to skate anymore than I started again and I'm decent at skating
Get your basics down pat, don't bother trying tre flips if you can barely ollie moving. Same with grinds/slides: many of these will come so much easier if you can manual and know how to shift your weight. I've been skating again for half a year now, after a hiatus of some twelve years, before which I skated for about seven years. And you know what? I'm skating better than ever and I think it's because I've really taken the time to re-learn skating from the ground up, not skipping over any preliminary tricks, but building muscle and muscle memory for the basics. Now when I go skate I usually (re)learn a new variation on a trick every time. Bottom line: when you're ready, you can learn a new trick in an afternoon. Otherwise you're going to be one of those kids who are like, 'Main, I've been practicing tre bombs for a whole year now and still can't land 'em, what's the secret?'
was trying to back 180 the other day, (im really good by the way), and i cant back 180(wtf :( but i landed it 180 the tail didnt go down and it kept turnin to a full 360 pivot, it was gnarly as fuck,

This Philosophy on skateboarding is awesome. This actually makes me want to skate way more now. Thanks man.

I think everyone would agree with me here, without Aaron Kyro, none of us here would be as good as we are at skating. Thank you Aaron :)

Do a "today I invented a trick!!"
There is not much to create now
Only freestyle tricks
what is it and what are you gonna call it
What's FreeStyle?
Search on youtube:"FreeStyle skateboarding" or "Rodney Mullen"
have you ever done a video series on how to film skateboarding with explanations about the right equipment, how to light up spots or at least how you and your crew lights up spots at night?

Good tips Aaron. You're doing a lot of rad things for the next generation of skaters. Keep up the positive vibes
I was so inspired after I watched this went out landed a healflip jumped of joy start doing these more often people are going to get up go back at it
I won't end a session without landing something

yea thats what happens to a lot of people they can kickflip but not heelflip, its the other way around for me tho
Awesome video, strange how one of braille's best, most helpful and inspiring videos is one of your least viewed. Thanks for the help Aaron
I can do fs and bs boardslides really well, both to regular and to fakie, so i know i was ready to learn bs feebles. When I kickflip the board either does a full flip and I land one-footed, or I land on the underside of the board with two-feet, help?

One day I got my kickflip... but I got sooo excited that I told my brother and I was so tired that I went to sleep but the next day I wasnt able to get it... and since then I regret... I should have tried the trick again and again and again... Now I still cant do it
Is it bad that i learned how to tre flip after a year and a half?
It's called self-efficacy, and if you know how to harness its properties you will benefit greatly in all aspects of life.
😧Been skating for ever and is like part of my life and the only thing I can do is ollie and powerslide. Everyday I try something thats easy and new but just cant but I just love skating so much just knowing one day ill able to do them.

He is pro, he rides for Revive skateboards, a pretty cool board company run by the youtuber Andy schrock. Check him out
Chris Smith lol i posted that right before he turned pro
Datruebeast200 ahh my bad ahah
I HATE KICKFLIPS !! xDD i can do a lot of tricks like heelplips inward heels all shove its sometime i land a 360 flip. but i cant land kickflips. and i cant do backside ollies. i dont know why. i land sometimes backside heelflips but cant do backside ollies...
This happened to me when trying to 50-50 a ledge. I was like "this is way to high to ollie onto!" But then I tried and I got up there. Never quit!
the real cuestion is do you even bordslide
well said. i had to learn that by myself. it took me about 5 years XD
Nice video!
Can someone help, I've been trying kickflips for 4 months straight, I flick down. I've tried on many occasions to flick up but no matter how hard I try I just can't, can anyone help me with this problem? ;(
stand there for like 10-20 mins just flicking your foot, no pop or jump. then every time you try the kickflip do that motion with your foot first.
if you can Ollie you can do the kik flip man don't say u cant bc u can just Ollie and change your foot position to kikflip and flick out on the pocket bro if its still hard then practice the flick only and watch the skate supports
I can Ollie over cones ☺️ I'll try the flicking step, I can land with my back foot bolts every time
Hey, I had the same problem!
KillingKow Thats probably a really good thing to do when your stuck on a kick flip is to try and heel flip. I Should try that :)
I LANDED DOUBLE FLIP :D thanks aaron
Thanks
thx for the help
i need help i been riding around for about a month now and im trying to ollie now alot of the time my back foot keeps land on the ground i can pop really high its just my back foot comes off
It's because you're not committing. I had the same problem but I just tightened my wheels so they can roll and that helped me feel more confident. (Idk if you should try that cause it might mess it up). So just push yourself and you'll eventually get it :)
Arturo Palacios yh OK thanks
did u land it yet?
im so much better now dude like i can ollie over 5 boards now so much progression
Nicholas Cheshire sick did u land any other tricks yet?
Good inspiration Aaron ! C:
thank you so much for that i was so close give up but not now
i have a good idea for a video idk if you wanne try it but i think itd be cool
a game of s.k.a.t.e and h.o.r.s.e. at the same time
ex: do an ollie then a bank shot
That's a dumb idea imo
arron how to fs air
I love skaters
haha I dislocated my knee like 3 days ago from skate boarding and all I can think about is getting back on my board and go out and skate
MAKE T SHIRTS THAT SAY " SKATE TO WIN "
I needed like 10 minutes to learn kickflip :D next week i landed varial flip about in 7 minute.
Next week i learned hospital flip in 5 minutes
Dude, you should give a ted talk.
I once first tried skate boarding, I fell and slipped over and I never did it again. That's right, I never fell over again.
I hate it when Parents (like mine) say you get bruses to much DONT SKATEBOARD Extremly Annoying
I feel you. Same

...mum thinks i get bullied at school.
So lucky. LOL
Nahh they just say suck it up
thanks bro :)
Hi
I was a good builder for Lego's than I tried skating and I stopped for 9 months cause I hurt my self bad and I didn't want to skate anymore than I started again and I'm decent at skating

Otherwise you're going to be one of those kids who are like, 'Main, I've been practicing tre bombs for a whole year now and still can't land 'em, what's the secret?'
I'm kind of a nerdy guy, but I still have a good handful of tricks, although I was not naturally talented
just bought ams and it is AMAZING thank you so much for all the support *****
nice video ;)
+brailleskateboarding Just got my kickflips on lock because of SMS v1 thank you so much for the help Aaron
was trying to back 180 the other day, (im really good by the way), and i cant back 180(wtf :( but i landed it 180 the tail didnt go down and it kept turnin to a full 360 pivot, it was gnarly as fuck,
