Many people struggle with the French Defense, although I never play e4, this is an opening I learned a long time ago that I know takes French players out of their theory and gives you fantastic attacking chances! I personally really like 1.Nc3. first of all, your opponents will be surprised, second you transpose into the jobava if they play d5 and if they play e5 or Nf6 then you transpose into the vienna with e4. I really recommend you learning the vienna, there's not that much theory but there are some tricky lines
I just never play e4, so I don't see a need to learn the lines of a Vienna, but at some point I'll transition to e4 openings I think, so I will eventually wanna learn this stuff! This is just how I used to play against e6
@@Blunder_Man If you wanna try 1. Nc3 you should know some basic ideas of the vienna it's a lot of fun lad. I feel like you should try it

I'm also kinda neg on E4 opening but I'm kinda coming around to the Jobava London as being a mirror of Italian, being similarly open. I definitely hate the classic London and how E4 tends to lock everything down. There's a lot of TH-camrs bullish on the Jobava.
@@JonEmerson I'm not a fan of the regular London. I think the Jobava keeps things exciting and a lot of different stuff can happen. Pawn storming, playing positionally, playing tactically with a pawn sac in the middle, you can do a lot and it's fun

@@Blunder_Manmayne 15% of the time, I would guess. And game 2 white should have transposed to the GPA... well I would have anyways. I think I like openings more than I like chess.

@@gainstthegrain totally understandable, I'm still enjoying it so I'm gonna keep up with it, but I'm keen to try some e4 again at some point
