Voltron is a tough nut. If you have one, there is no real drive to get another. It's been 5 years since Playmate's reissue. I got the Legendary Defender, so this go around maybe a retro style. That last time was weird 2 versions of Voltron plus a Lego set.
Always found it funny how Voltron seems to be wearing a little domino mask like it's hiding its identity. Imagine if it was removable in the show, making the baddies go "Who the fuck are you, random giant robot?! Where the Hell did Voltron go??"

That said, oftentimes there is some overlap between superhero\masked avenger sensibilities and tokusatsu\super robot design, so maybe they really did just want to give him a Zorroesque mask for cool points. That or maybe they thought the eyes looking like they're perpetually cast in shadow would make him look more imposing.
Moderoid even made the Ripley and Power Loader from ALIENS fully articulated too. The model was based on the 90s Halcyon model kits, but while those model kits were static with no articulation, Moderoid made them articulated and somewhat fit the 1/12 scale of the NECA ALIEN action figures.

I bought it cause it was way cheaper than the NECA Power Loader, the issue is that it is slightly smaller, but only slightly. As for the Ripley that comes with it, the articulation isn't NECA but it is good enough, and since I own the ALIENS version with Newt, the Kenner homage and the ALIEN³ version, this one I will paint and made look as the Konami Arcade game version. As such, I'd say go for that Robocop, your video peeked my interest on this Voltron and I love all about it, since still can have great dynamic poses. I like that Netflix series and toy a lot, but this one seems like a great way to get a very good Original version Voltron with a lower cost. Keep on making great vids.

DO NOT BUY THIS KIT. They absolutely ruined a perfectly good potential model with the decision to not allow the feet to transform. No other Voltron in history requires a lion foot replacement - and the ones that ship are COMICALLY oversized. This was a huge disappointment and an incredibly stupid decision by the designers - the model would have been absolutely fine and maybe a Top 10 of all time, but you can't use the oversized heads in Lion mode, and you can't transform the toy as-is without the swap or he won't stand. This review declines to highlight the fact that you CANNOT stand the figure without the head-swap. Save your money this is a HUGE disappointment.
