Very enjoyable to watch. The V9 looks awesome. I just can’t get enough of content like this. What an amazing place to paddle. Watching from Queensland, Australia 🤙
V9 owner (58yrs) about 6 months, great video Jasper, spot on with comments, boat gives good speed and is very forgiving. LIke how you are showing how much the boat could do, spurs me on. Probably best boat I've owned.
Great video. They nailed it with the rocker on this boat. It doesn’t punch the wave in front like you’d anticipate. It simply rises up on top of it and allows you to paddle over it. All you were missing was the magic of the Mocke butt pad with Teflon on it. An absolute game changer. 😊
Great video, thanks for sharing! I just got me a V9 Ultra and I am waiting for it to be shipped next week. A just can't wait to try this beautiful ski. Greetings from Brazil!
I used a V9 in the Gorge race last summer. Race Day didn't give us the best conditions but I had fun with it the other days. It's always fun to see a few of my favorite Fish Hoekers: you, Garth, your brother, and your mum!
I should add that this is the best instructional video I've seen from you, besides the video courses that you & Dawid made. The chit-chatting you do throughout the run contains all kinds of tips I find helpful, like how you work the rudder, how a shorter boat doesn't glide as long but is easier to accelerate... stuff like that.🙂
That was a great video one of the best i have watched. Im new to the sport here in oz and only been paddling ten months aged 64. I started on another brand of ski the same width as the v9 you paddled here. Might look at a v9 or 10 one day and your knowledge is most appreciated. Which fenn ski would be comparable to the v9 in stability and comfort, performance . How would a swordfish compare. Maybe a bit to narrow for me though. thx for this informative video Jasper.
Hey David. Thanks so much for the feedback 🙏. Glad you loved the video. A Fenn XTS would be the comparable boat in the Fenn fleet stability wise. I think the V9 handles better though and the seating position is more comfortable. Yes you’re right, the swordfish is less stable than those two. Check out our course on www.101learn.online/product/complete-surfski-bundle/ There is a wealth of info there. Hopefully we get to meet up somewhere. Jasper
HI David. I went from a Think Zen to a Swordfish (it was cheap on gumtree) and just found it a bit to hard to balance when things got rough. I was tossing up between a Think 6 and the V9 and found the V9 to be a bit more stable. I have the Elite layup (12.5kg) and absolutely love it. I'm still building my skill level but I'll be using the V9 for my second race this Saturday at Mosman. I'm finding the V9 nearly as stable as the Zen but it glides nearly as well as the Swordfish which I've lent to a friend
@@geoffsemon7411 Thx Geoff. I rechon the v9 will be the bomb alright. Ive just got to get a buyer for my right kidney and im away. Thanks a lot for your input mate.
A technical question from an amateur non-surfski paddler: how did shortening the paddle take power out? Is it because then you wouldn't dip the blades fully in the water or does it have anything to do with lever effect? That v9 looks great. 👍
It's like the gears of a car, the shorter your paddle the lower the gear, and the longest your paddle the higher the gear. That`s because of the lever effect.
Thanks Jasper for the thorough review. Enjoying my V9 here in Miami Beach, Florida. A perfect ski for the older 65 plus paddler

So glad to hear Craig. Hopefully a few more downwinds in this boat to come.
Thanks Jasper, most enjoyable and super impressed you can switch feather like that!! Awesome skills

Yes the lever effect.

Thank you both. 👍
@@LetsGoPaddlingthey need acceleration to sprint the waves downwind. Flat Water paddling needs on the other hand longer paddle😊
Seems you are using a very short paddle lenght maybe 205cm?
Can anyone from here tell me how it compares to the V8 pro?
If I could just find. the $4000-plus :)
