Evidence that an adult Mozart had anticipated the new phases ahead for music in general for those future composers could nave an example to follow. Another facet of his genius and portfolio of every form of music!
This is one of the most outstanding piano pieces by Mozart - by far greatest than the traditional sonatas. It is quite ambivalent, both in terms of expression, harmony, architecture.... Many renderings seem possible, provided that they are fully consequent and convincing. Such is obviously the case here. Thank you, Mr Kristian Bezuidenhout !!!

Я абсолютно безграмотная любительница музыки. Я имею в виду музыкально безграмотная. Но не устаю изумляться этой вещи. Такая небольшая по объему, а сколько в ней всего! Мало того что безумно красива, но как оригинально и свежо она звучит! Каждый следующий звук неожидан и словно нов. Это напоминает мне и Прокофьева. Сколько мыслей и чувств вызывает это небольшое произведение! Счастье, что был такой композитор и оставил нам столько неописуемо прекрасной музыки. Спасибо исполнителю!

Please put back on TH-cam the video in which Sol Gabetta plays Beethoven's Cello Sonata in F major together with this pianist. I loved watching this video and I was very sad that it was removed from the platform. I believe this presentation took place on the same occasion.

this was a beautiful performance! I just wonder why if they chose to use a period instrument they didn't choose one from mozart's time (this one is a bit later). it's a lovely instrument, I'm just curious about the choice!
Maybe because Mozart's Stein fortepiano didn't sound big enough for the hall. It's small instrument that barely fit inside the room he and Constanza were renting in late 1780's. Nothing like a little 'Fantasia' to escape reality, as things would get from bad to worse for the Mozarts...

He does not add any idiosyncratic findings to the text of the music but keeps a healthy distance. And the instrument and sound are excellent, however do believe that he would be able to sound equally good and have more freedom on a quality modern grand piano.
