'The Big Lap' Original Series is coming to YouTube in 4K

- G'day Guys,
This week we're celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of 'The Big Lap' Film Series back in 2013 . . . can you believe that?!
To celebrate this milestone event we've decided it's time to move this project, which has been such a massive part of our lives, to TH-cam where we hope it will inspire a new generation of travellers to hit the road on their own adventures.
Best of all, I've been working furiously behind the scenes for the past 5 or 6 months using very clever AI (artificial intelligence) software to 'upscale' the resolution of the film series to 4K Ultra High Definition.
That's 4 x more resolution than we filmed the series in. Hard to believe that the technology to do this exists but, here we are!
There's more . . . I've also been able to double the frame rate from the original 25 frames per second to 50 frames per second making it buttery smooth and significantly increasing the clarity of the video.
I can't wait for you to see it.
If you've only ever seen the DVD version then this will be like seeing it again for the first time.
If you haven't already subscribed to our TH-cam Channel then now is the time.
The first two episodes will be live any day now and Subscribers with notifications turned on will be the first to know.

We bought the first edition and watched it back to back a dozen times.
You were one of our biggest inspirations to film our travels the way we do.
This is great news, I got the first edition DVD set for my birthday years ago, fast forward to 2017 married on Fraser Island and heading home we decided to do our family lap. Fast forward to march 2019 we he had sold what we could, saved as much as possible, quit or put our jobs on hold. Then we left on our lap. We had our good times and bad times we only technically made it half way but we made it to Darwin found a place to recover some funds and try repair our camper. But this in turn was the birthplace of our new lives we where at they right spot right time and we got the job of ruw that caravan park and haven't looked back and fast forward to now we still never "went home" and we haven't looked back you're family adventure was our catalyst thank you
My wife and I love this series. We bought the original DVD release way back, but now we can watch on TH-cam. Thanks for this series, it's inspired us to travel. Hopefully we'll do our own big lap one day.

As another traveller who was inspired by your trip, and as an owner of the compact dvd set, we did our half lap last year after an abortive attempt to get away in 2021, only got as far as Lakes Entrance before yet another Covid lockdown. As I am now in my mid-seventies, we were not quite as adventurous as you, but we did our best to emulate your trip. We had already explored Queensland, NSW and Victoria pre-Covid, and so now we just need to complete the explorations of nortrh Queensland, the connection to the NT and then back down the Stuart Highway, detouring via the Oodnadatta Track and Flinders Rnges, as in some of your subsequent trips. Forgot to mention, re-did our explorations of Tasmania in March this year; again following a lot of what you did, other than the Overland Track. Thanks for your inspiration, it formed a major part of our trip planning,
We are so excited for you and look forward to the release. We purchased your 1st edition and still have in our collection, we watched it many times and lent it to friends to watch. It inspired us to travel and we did our first half lap in 2018 and now we are having a go at the other side of the coin recording/editing. You have and continue to inspire us. I remember getting mine for Christmas 10 years ago and still have it to this day on the shelf next to the tv. First edition number 232 ❤❤❤.
The footage being upgraded to 4K looks amazing and I can’t wait to sit down and watch it with my kids now ( 5 and 3 ) to maybe plan our lap 😊
Its your Big Lap series that has inspired us to buy our LC200 earlier this year and start planning for future Australia-wide travel. We're off to do a lap through the Flinders Ranges and across the Simpson Desert next year, and then hopefully a caravan purchase the year after. It's all we've thought of and planned for since watching your series. Totally inspiring. Particularly as you didn't have the 'big budget' that so many influencers have these days.

Mate, this is great news. We bought your original DVD set and have watched it through a few times over the years, however the DVDs are now old and scratched. It will be great to watch the series again. We are looking forward to this. Thanks!
Really enjoying The Big Lap. We also purchased a Tambo and did 2, half laps. One in 2012 Melbourne to Darwin then to the east and the other in 2016 Melbourne to Darwin and then to the West, in a 120 Prado '03. You certainly don't need a 22 ft caravan and the latest landcruiser. Love your passion. Looking forward to watching the rest of the series.
I still got my First Edition from early 2014. Definitely has inspired us to do the lap.
We watched the DVD set about 5 years ago and it inspired us to go and explore. Thankyou
I have loved watching the series on download. Now my grandchildren are older I am hoping to inspire them to do it when they are older. We have done mini escapes around the country. Not yet tackled the North West but it is on the list. Keep it up.

I have watched the videos so many times it’s crazy. (the start of disc 3, the hub bearing and the start of the trip up into Cape York gets replayed over and over) We also have all the downloads.
In your own way you guys inspired us.
We’re leaving on our own adventure early in January and we’re moving to a remote community in the NT called Yarralin. Just us and our two Samoyeds. (Yes… in Jan, yes… start of the Wet season… yes… pics of orange dogs to follow)
I can’t wait to start (re)watching the Big Lap again in 4k from our new digs in the NT.
And hopefully we can do our little bit to encourage others to get outside their comfort zone once we get up the courage to post a vid or two of our own!
Lovely Ep and well filmed, I did my first Lap in 1988 with my Mum and Dad there was heaps doing it then just not filmed.
