There was a fault with the app at the time of recording this video. If you are reading this now, you would want to set your timezone to include daylight saving.
NOTE: If you haven't yet bought a camera, there are two updated cameras that are a bit easier to setup and have improved picture quality. (Note: Do not buy the 5MP version of the camera they have out; I've had two and the footage is not smooth. These are not ready for release yet until they fix them.)

These are pretty good cameras but set up can be a bit of a learning curve and you may be unlucky and get a faulty one that results in jerky footage. I just made this video to show some of the things that will make setting up these cameras a bit faster. If this was useful, I'd be grateful if you hit that 'like' button.

UPDATE: What I'm finding is that these cameras develop 'jerky-footage-syndrome'. You may get lucky and receive a camera that records smooth footage, but what I'm seeing now across most of my ieGeek cameras is that the footage is nowhere near the FPS (frames per second) it is set at. If you require smooth footage then I can no longer recommend these cameras as a robust solution. They also seem to fail after a couple of years. This starts with dropping connection initially, then they just won't connect to wifi.
UPDATE: January 2021 - As Adobe have turned off Flash Player, you will likely find that you cannot view footage on your internet browser. I would expect ieGeek will come up with a workaround but for now it's not working. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

Thanks for the great post. I was a little stuck with the HiP2P client, didn't realise it was the drivers for the camera, so once found the IP connected. Just one question please regarding the web based interface. I've tried IE and Edge, but I cannot see the extra features, do you know if these are still available? For some reason the PC app is a lot more reliable than the phone android phone app. Lastly, when you have auto tracking select, after it's followed someone, how can you get it to reset faster to the initial view?
in set up , which option would i need to choose if i can only view the footage on my laptop . Thanks .
How much bandwidth do these cameras use on c10 FPS wired via Cat5 Ethernet? I' want to run two of these, but have 30MB Fibre, but don't wan to suffer too much on Bandwith

@@stuartjamieson2427 I'm not so sure what it is you are asking me here. If you are referring to the setting at the bottom of the video settings, setting it at 60 allows you to select a higher frames per second (FPS). In honesty though, I don't think you'll notice a difference and the camera will likely change these numbers as it sees fit.

Hi, I've been looking at numerous cameras on Amazon but it's a minefield of choice....I've looked at this one a few times and after watching your comprehensive video decided it seems like a nice bit of kit.....Couple of questions....I use my iPhone unlimited allowance personal hotspot for my home wifi to connect a MacBook Pro and smart tv......I know it says you need to connect initially via an ethernet cable but I noticed on your video that it said wirelesss set up as an option on your phone......Do you think I'd be able to set it up just using my iPhone's hotspot and also I use chrome as my internet browser on my MacBook....I presume I'd be able to run the online features with Chrome? Thanks in advance...Michael

Thank for the info ,it saved a me a lot of time setting up.Just a quick question I want to site the camera on an outside wall which will be directly underneath a dual pir security light,would this affect the Camera in any way when the camera is triggered at virtually the same time as the PIR light is triggered.
No it won’t be a problem. As far as the camera will be concerned if your light comes on the camera LEDs will just turn off. 👍

It is necessary setup firstly connecting the camera via ethernet for then connect to the wifi?

Peter Williams That’s a good question Peter. If I’m honest it never occurred to me to check for firmware upgrades. I’ve just had a quick look on their website and there seems to be an upgrade tool. I’ll have a better look later today.
I've looked again at their website and there are lots of different firmware versions for 1080p cameras. Mine work fine for what I want them to do so I'm not going to bother trying to upgrade the firmware. If you want to go down this road I would advise you email the manufacturers at service@iegeek.com and send them your camera UID codes then they can advise you which firmware version to upgrade to.

Is there a way to direct the video recordings to a specific location within my home server? like inside a NAS or something?
Not sure on that Andy, that’s not a set up I’m familiar with. If your server can pick up an IP address on your home network then I’m sure you’ll be able to sort something though.

Hi Mr G. Yes you can set the recording schedule in advanced settings in 'sd card plan recording' on the camhi pro app on your phone.
Hello interesting video for beginners like me. Just a quick question : a monthly subscription is needed to use it? Second question : the SD card records on a rolling basis, meaning once the card is full, the first images are deleted?
No there’s no subscription, the app is free.
Yes, the recording just overwrites the oldest footage in a loop.
Is there a way if live stream while I'm away though my mobile data or is the micro card and recording the only option to watch it while away?
Yes, if your 4G mobile signal is good enough you can watch live footage and recorded footage.
Is it possible to see pictures and videos that are stored on the camera via the app. I ask because on my software it shows the SD card as greyed out. Thanks

When i zoom in with the camera. Does this cam record just this particular zoomed area?
No, if you zoom in, its just the display on the phone that zooms in, the camera recording does not change.

You can record video in segments of between 15 - 900 seconds.

Hi Chris. I still have four of these dotted around the house that have been pretty stable. I wanted to use the recorded footage in some of my videos from time to time and found playback wasn’t always as smooth as I needed. If you have standard requirements then these will likely suffice. You may be unlucky and have a unit that fails after a while but that’s the chance you take. They’re pretty cheap.
If and when these fail I’ll probably replace them with google nest cameras. The one I have (and doorbell) work great. But obviously more expensive and there’s a subscription fee too.

@@chrissmith7069 I’m a bit out of touch with their latest camera offerings. Each model should have its own number though. You’d be able to find these from the descriptions on Amazon. I think the 5mp is IG90. The one to avoid is the one where you can see all the LEDs on the front. That’s the earliest model. They then did a squarish one which is okay. Then the later ones were round with smoked glass as the front so you can’t see the LEDs.

Can you use security light with this because it's dark on the recording at 8am in the morning thinking of putting a security lugh6 up as well so recording in light and movement
Sure you can can Valerie. Just ensure the light is not shining at the camera otherwise it’ll blind it.

Hi and thank you for a great informative video. I bought the next model up from this from Amazon but returned it within 24 hours as I could not get the motion detection to work as i wanted it to, in actual fact i could not get it to work full stop. Have you any experience on motion sensing on the camera in this video as i do not want constant recording only with movement and am prepared to buy one like this. I will be running it purely Wifi after the initial setup. Another issue with my previous camera was, for some reason it would stop recording totally for hours on end and only start again when i viewed the image in live view. Any ideas gratefully accepted. Thank you
Motion detection is too sensitive on this camera. If you need that facility you’ll need to look elsewhere.
Hi there. Thanks for the video. I am setting mine up now. Is it right that to access the cameras via the ip address on the pc that the cameras need to be connected via ethernet to the router? Once I unplug the ethernet and the camera is connected via wifi, I can access via my phone app, but, I cannot access the cameras via the pc. Is this correct? Best regards, Chris.
You can still access the cameras via wifi Chris. You just need to connect by ethernet on initial setup.
Hi, awesome video! I thinking to buy this one, but I’m not sure, how you delete the “old” captures, pictures, from the sd card. Is there an option to choose which one you want to delete? Or just need a format every time when it’s full.

It just overwrites the old footage in a loop when full. No need for you to do anything. 👌
Thank you for your answer. I have an other question. Why I can’t see the videos? I’ve changed the timezone, I’m in the UK, using iOs, after I format the sd card, I can watch back a few new capture, but not all. What’s can be the problem?
If you format the card it will wipe the previous recordings. You need to let it record some more. Also, it takes a few minutes for the recordings list to update with the latest recordings. If you are still having problems contact the seller at service@iegeek.com
A friend recommended these to me. However I am unsure whether to go for this or go for a set which come with DVR and hard drives etc. Would you say the dvr thing is a bit dated now??? I'm looking to add a system to my home security in the next few weeks and could do with the advice? Thanks
Marvin Dorfler I replaced a failed DVR system with these cameras. They are a much neater solution in my opinion. I actually added a third camera to my home system today, their latest 1080p camera. The only downside to be aware of is that if someone can remove the camera then you’re stuffed as the memory card is inside the camera. If that’s not an issue then I would say go for these.

Sorry I know this is an old video, but thought it was worth asking anyway... We have got these cameras and have installed them and the app. When looking at the router settings, there is only one camera showing on there and the name hasn’t been changed as we have done in the app. Any idea whether having no SD card in one of them yet might be the reason why it’s not showing? Although it is connected to WiFi 🤔

Not having a memory card in the camera shouldn't make a difference to it being shown on your network, but what you are experiencing is not uncommon in my experience.
I had these first generation cameras and have gradually replaced them with the newer ones as they refused to connect after a time. The first thing I do when one of these cameras loses connection is to break out my 30m ethernet cable (was about £5) and connect the camera to the router this way, then remove the cable and and see if that wakes it up via wifi. If not, I will just press and hold the reset button for about 20 seconds and then re-install the camera with the cable. If that doesn't work then I will call the camera dead and move on. If within the 12 month period, definitely contact the seller and request a replacement. Don't be palmed-off with a discount on another camera if still in the 12 month period if thats what they offer you. Hope you get sorted.

It’s quite straight forward. You need to drill a hole through your wall big enough to allow the power lead (from the power supply) to pass through it. I used a 16mm masonry bit. Once the drill is through the wall, tape the end of the power lead to the end of the drill bit then pull the drill bit out so the lead comes with it. Now just connect the power lead jack/socket together in a waterproof box you can mount on your wall.
No maintenance required other than removing cobwebs.
Can’t really see how you would set this up without using the mobile app.

@@earllewis4396 128gb is the max. I generally get about a week from a 32gb card but that very much depends on the quality you set it to. I have another camera with a 32 gb card and I get a couple of days. A 64 gb card is a good balance of cost/time. Try the endurance cards.

Are you using the camhipro app? If so, click on the camera you want to use and then access the speaker and microphone controls there.

hi i have had this camera for a few years already it was working fine up until maybe last year when we had our wifi router changed and i never got around to reconnecting it.... yesterday i got it back online but for some reason the IR night vision is not working theirs no red light around the lens and the video is just black... i have been all through settings and selected infrared to (auto) and i tried ( on ) and both didn't work i have opened the camera up and all the connections seemed tight so I'm lost as what to do next, obviously night time is the most important time for a security camera to be capturing video... any advice :-/
First, I would open the camera up again and disconnect and then reconnect the LED cable from the socket. (You might have corroded contacts in the socket.)
Next, with the camera powered on, if you cover the light sensor on the front, can you hear the camera click to signify it is trying to power on the LEDs? If not, unplug all connectors and reconnect and try again.
If no luck you could always try and ask the seller, they are helpful. Good luck.

You could see the camera on the app for sure. To set it up on a PC remotely, you will be able to but its not something I’ve needed to do. Contact the manufacturer if you need help with that.

Yes that is how it works.
As one of the other comments asks, does the SD card automatically clear off the old video footage, or do you have to open the camera back up take it out and then clear all the old video footage off manually??? Reply on this would be appreciated

Anyone else getting issues trying to view the videos once downloaded? Recently mine have started playing for a few seconds then jump to the end of the 10 minutes, with a message saying "Playing Finished"?

Hi. Yes you can loosen a lock ring that will allow you to rotate the camera. You can then loosen a couple of screws (with the included hex key) to adjust side to side and up and down movement. It’s not like you have infinite adjustment though; like if it had a ball joint.
excellent tutorial, wouldn't have had a clue without it. One question, when going into sd card in IP Camera viewer on my PC I can find the files easy enough, but havent a clue how to play them. Any ideas
Make the finer tweaks from the web application. View the footage from the phone app.

Is there a way to make the camera record constantly 24/7 rather than use the motion detector? It's going to be outside my house so just want constant record. I have a 128gb memory card so space isn't a issue
It does record constantly. Turning on the motion detection is in addition and just sends you a few photos of any detected motion by email. Although I would recommend turning off motion detection as it is pretty much impossible to set up cause it’s too sensitive.

When motion detection is on does it put markers on the video so that you can see what happens at those times? If not it would be a pain to watch through all the recorded video to find the interesting parts.
No, it either emails you with images of what has been detected or notifies you via the app. I wouldn’t bother with motion detection though, I found it either too sensitive or it didn’t detect. There’s no sweet spot.
@@GeeWhizRS fair enough. I was looking for a camera that constantly records as it seems the ones that rely on motion detection always miss events.
This one does; if you can live without the motion detection I would say go for it.
@@GeeWhizRS I'm still looking at the moment as having some sort of notification when an event has occurred would be good otherwise it means trawling through hours of video to find evidence needed.

There's an option to turn off the recording to SD card, so yes, you should be able to set it up without a card in it.
Great review pal and mine worked brilliantly. Since the successful setup, I had to reset my cameras (now fixed to the wall). I was unable to take them down and connect them with the cable again to set them up. I managed to do it by connecting to them as a wireless network, change the settings so I could then add them wirelessly. Since then, I can connect to them fine and no issues with recording. The issue I have is that the motion detection is recording but not always sending notifications through. It does it sporadically with no trend. Sometimes I will get a notification and check it out but when I check the alarm recordings, there are loads more which I didn’t know about. Do you have any idea why or how I can rectify this? I am using the CamHi app on iPhone. Thank you.
I would forget about the motion control facility. I never managed to get it to work without emailing me photos of spiders every few minutes. Have a look at their new app - camhipro. It's a bit more polished.
I'm in the same situation , can't take camera down , Ethernet cable won't reach , I am stuck as to how to get them connected wirelessly , tried for hours !

No, it's easy. Just select existing camera on the app when you set the next phone up. Takes seconds. 👍

My camera pics up every fly and rain drop and it sets off the motion detection non stop ...any tips on how to reduce the motion but still capture intruders ect
If you follow the guidance in the video and still having problems, then I would suggest turning off the motion detection. That’s what I’ve done. It is overly sensitive and even turning down the motion detection sensitivity to almost minimum it still picks up bugs.
Hi pal, mine works for a bit using cam hi, then it says connected but when you click on the cam you see the thumb nail, it goes to full screen then starts to work then crashes out of full screen on iphone

Hello, I have an issue with the motion detection: the camera does not detect small object on the screen. I have put the camera so that it shoots on a parking area at 20-25 meters range. The camera detects the movement of another big object moving, such as a car, but not a person, although I see the person on the screen. Is that normal? thanks
Watch from 14:54 in the video and about 15:15 you will see the sensitivity sliders. Just adjust those to suit. Although I will point out that the motion detection on this camera sucks a bit - I could never get it to set right so I don't use that facility.

Any chance you would know why the video files stop dropping in to the files section? It records a couple then just stops. Tried resetting, reformatting the card etc but the files arnt there. Works fine when you manually record but the online ones don’t show. All set up as it should be
If you've tried resetting the camera and deleting the camera from the app, I would next try a different SD card. If you still have the same issue then it sounds like the camera is at fault and I would contact the seller.

Stephen Cawley assuming your SD card has adequate read/write speeds, format the card in settings. Alternatively it could be that your FPS (frames per second) is set too low. Increase that for smoother footage but you won’t get as many days recorded.

Yes you do. It only takes a few seconds to do.
Could you tell me what I would need to do as I’ve had my two cameras set up for just under a year but today I’ve changed my hub to a new one, do I have to take the cameras down to do the Ethernet thing again? Or is there another way round it ? Thanks in advance
If you try to connect the cameras to the network and they won’t, you will probably need to reset the cameras and start again. It’s handy to have a long Ethernet cable so you don’t need to take the cameras down.
Thanks for replying, if I click on the app my two cameras just say connecting but don’t obviously connect as they are linked to old hub so think I’m gonna have to get a long Ethernet cable 🙈😫
@@sunnydelightsxbx91 they’re only a few pounds and very useful to have for these cameras. They drop off occasionally and connecting by wire often wakes them back up.
Had one of these cameras for approx 18 months and it's been pretty good but I've never been able to get the sound/mic working. I've checked the sound settings; both volumes are up and set to "mic" but I tried talking to my kids via the app and they couldn't hear me. All I can hear is background white noise but not their voices.
There's no audio facility on this model.

You can try and set up in the app as an existing camera. If that doesn’t work then get a long Ethernet cable and run from the router to the camera. You can get a 30m cable for cheap.
I would like to use it as adition to my weather station. Is there any way to stream live from this camera? TH-cam stream or some WordPress plugin?

Hi Chris. You need to enter all the relevant email information for whichever email you want to use. Personally, I wasn’t cool with putting that information into this Chinese organised system so I created a separate gmail account purely for cctv notifications. I would recommend you do that. You can then use the default gmail settings. It’s been a while since I did it (I don’t use that facility now) but I remember setting it up on the browser access.

Can you tell me the output power on the plug please? I want to wire one of these in with a standalone transformer.

Hi, I am going to order this camera. Just to confirm how many days video 128GB SD card will record. If two days then after two days it will automatically erase last day recordings? Its a 2MP sensor? How is video result & WiFi range. Actually my camera position is 25m away from router.
128gb is massive, I’m using 1x32gb and 1x64gb. The amount of days recording will depend on how many frames per second you set it at. I’m running about 10 fps. A movie would be 24fps so it’s not as smooth but it doesn’t need to be. I’ve had no drop-outs of wifi connection but I’m at about 10m. The ability to connect over that distance will be down to the strength of signal from your router and nothing to do with the camera. Picture quality is excellent.

have you ha any issues with night vision, it just started the last couple of nights, I've factory reset it a few times and doesn't seem to resolve. I have looked at night and a couple of the IR lights don't seem to be on, not sure if that will make a big difference but it seems to be. Any suggestions??
I've not noticed any of the LEDs on mine failing. If it's within warranty and it bothers you, maybe contact the seller and tell them your night vision isn't as good as it was. They might send you a replacement.

If you open the camera up you can unplug the cable that powers the LEDs. Should be straightforward.
how much can a 128gb memory card record on this?
I can't get my 720p to record, i have changed the sd card to see if this would help. Any ideas?

You need a long masonry drill. You need one just big enough to allow the ethernet socket to pass through. I think from memory I used a 16mm bit.
Or maybe fix the camera to a fascia board. Would that work? Then all the cables can go into the loft space and down into the house from there.

You need to connect using a cable initially. I expect this may be difficult unless your neighbour knows you’re using his WiFi. 🤣

I bought the exact same camera but my quality is awful. Yours at 14:27 says your resolution is 1920x1080. Mine only has the highest option of going to 640x352. I can't increase it. I bought the 1080p version
Just an update. I changed the stream to main stream and now it has the option for 1920x1080 and I click apply and it keeps changing back to a lower resolution on its own!
On the camHi app, click on the camera so you are watching live playback. Click on the icon at the bottom right (square with a point at the top), that switches from HD to SD. Try that.

It should do yes. The setting you change in the app is making the change on the camera itself. So if you check using your browser I would expect it to read the new setting on the camera as you have set it. Also, make sure you are using internet explorer, not chrome or firefox etc.
@@GeeWhizRS hello. Got it finally in position but on the app its always flickering between "connecting..." And then "online". Really annoying as it won't hold its connection. It did before and its not far from the WiFi. Any ideas?

In the app, go into ‘device information’ and find the camera ‘IP address’. You just then enter that into your browser address bar and enter the same username and password for the camera. 👌
Strange, with a 32Gb memory card i got 6 hour recording span on HD, I purchased a 128GB card and put that in, but I`m still only getting a 6 hour recording span?
Something wrong there bud. I get about a week on a 32gb card. Have you formatted the cards? If so, you might want to contact the seller and ask them.

You can't in the app. You can only download the recorded file and then fast forward in another player.
What app is it your using on your phone?

You must connect the camera to your internet connection initially with a cable. Once connected, you can connect to WiFi.

Is there an easier way to delete footage from the SD card on an iPhone?
You just need to go into the settings of the camera in question, then format the card. Takes seconds. Although I'm unsure why you would want to do this when the camera will just overwrite the the old footage. You come home late from the pub and want to destroy the evidence??? 🙃

I’m not 100% what you mean John. Can you not just add two cameras to the CamHipro app?
@@GeeWhizRS Thank you for the reply - I have them both added and have spent a few hours checking out iSpy and the hip version but they did not do what I needed. I am now just running with the CamHipro app as I have discovered I can view them both on my phone while not on my wifi (just on my data) which is what I needed as I needed to view them while at work. Hi Great video helped me to set up, However telling people in the U.K at (05:52) to set CamHi software time settings to (GMT+ 1:00 Europe/Amsterdam) I find incorrect as it jumps forward by one hour. I then set it to (GMT+0:00 Europe/Dublin) it now retains it's correct time.
You'll likely find you need to adjust that depending on whether we are in British Summer Time or not.

There's no audio capability on the model of camera in the video Chris. The newer model has audio. Which one do you have?
