    I was stationed in Alaska for 5 years. After another short summer came and went, my (now ex) wife got upset that I didn't go do anything with the kids. After listing all the Army nonsense I did that summer, she realized I never had an opportunity to do so, and a whole year had been taken from us. After 9 years of this, I got out, but I got out too late to keep my family intact. The military is not a life for everyone.

    I left SF nearly similar circumstances, 2 years in, these senior sergeants were hard asses, too hard, ice, they didn't feel didn't fear,tunnel vision they could literally slit your throat having a sandwich and never think twice, i could feel that happening, I prefer emotions, so I returned to the Rgr Rgmt ... they're hard but human ... you wouldn't believe the disconnect with Seals, SF , Delta, Raiders (though marines in general are disconnected, lol) god blessem, we need them. It was just a toll I didn't want to pay personally.

    • @Thleta
      @Thleta 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is some extreme insight i havent heard before regarding rangers being a bit more human. My man how was your time in the regiment. I want to be among the elite but the choice of sf or ranger is some say there more creativitiy in sf and the skills to be learned can really translate to civil world and because rgmt is so... well regimented. I just want to be among hard charging warriors who love the grind, not a group that is self obssessed and self inflicting (the gb that was killed by his teammates, exessive hazing and drinking). I want the guys who love lacing the boots up everyday and know that no one can compete with their energy. Ive done blue collar my whole life and every company is filled with just... bitchers and complainers. Is rgmt for me?

    • @hur1kane
      @hur1kane 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Thleta I'll be honest, nothing translates back to the civilian side, regardless of what bs they sell. I was an airborne ranger medic, then 18d sf med spec ... I'm nothing medical on the civie side, the emt national registry, useless, every state has their own registration and certification, and to qualify for life flight ... I'd have had to go back to school, paramedic is a 18 month to 2 yr program ... maybe as a combat engineer you can come out and go in as a surveyor tech ... but even the full on surveyors require certificates, and apprenticeship, so be aware. Be cautious. As for your original question, Rangers are the most deployed, the most utilized in the spec ops community because they can be deployed by the Army, the DOD, JSOC, ETC... they're the go-to guys for operational flexibility, "officially" Seals, MARSOC, Special Forces are only deployable by an act of congress, presidential directive or by NATO ...

I used the same thought process and observed that many of the Seals were getting out at 12 or 15 years, bodies destroyed, suffering from alcoholism or depression. I decided to not submit my package for BUD/S, take the promotion to E6 and reenlistment bonus, earn a tour in Italy, and be happy. Now I'm ten years in currently assigned as combat support for NSW East. After taking a hard, up close look I realized I made the right call in not going for the Trident or SWCC device. I filled the paperwork and started prepping for selection a little over a year prior to the end of my contract and was already wondering if I was gonna sign another or not. By the time I finished my prep camp and was heading to selection I had met this girl and we hanged together every minutes we had (during weekends). I would drive 3 hours every weekend to see her. Did my selection in the last 7 months of my contact. After 5 days and half the people cut, I woke up and went to the marching NCO and told him I'm done. My reasons were pretty much the same. Marching NCO was in his 40s and was "sleeping" on camp. Warrant officer was in his 50s and single and sleeping in his office. That's when I realized that I wanted a family and kids. I'm now a veteran since last year and living with my girl. (But I sometimes miss it a little ain't gonna lie)

      I agree - sadly youtube is pushing them to do this and when you are already being de-listed anything you can do to attract new blood is a 'blessiing' even if it's at the cost of your existing fanbase. I have resorted to blocking all ads - and installing a plugin that allows me to mark videos I don't like as read - this is one of the few shorts that interested me but I tick read on 10+ vids a day just because they are shorts.
