I upgraded to 17mm hex. A must because I used to strip my hex to much. Haven't stripped it once with the 17mm. Traxxas needs better parts from the factory. Probably my last Traxxas rc I will own.
spinning out the hex happens when the wheelnut loosens. Check if the locknut isn't worn out. You could also reapply threadlock on the axle threads. Another issue could be the bearings, I broke the same axle twice in a row before I found a bearing locked up. Don't use center diff for speed runs, it will just unload the power on the front wheels and wear them out.
Agree, it should be the wheel nuts loosening or the rims are of really bad quality. Alum hex will eat the plastics rims soon enough. I am trying plastic hex, new nuts and rims. Expensive mistake.
Ultimately, what did you do about this situation? Is there a steel gear that goes with that center diff? You need a follow up video that straightens this out.
I'm in the process of upgrading my Slash 4x4 ultimate. I just put a center diff with a hot racing aluminum diff case and metal center diff 54T gear in it. I'm still putting it together so I haven't got to try it out yet. Do you know what diff fluid/oil is in your differentials? I read that 30K in the front diff, 50K in the center diff, and 10K in the rear diff is a good set-up for the track. Thanks for the cool videos.
So the reviews on this diff show it isn't durable and it will break, and you should do the metal case diff instead. Has this one been performing well on 3s? I run mine aggressively so I need to make sure the durability is good
Hey great video, question, when I put together the rear diff I noticed when I spin the wheels the gear mesh from the rear diff is rubbing on one side, the gear side. There is no wiggle with the rear diff in. So I’m not sure what to do at this point. Thank you so much
@@RCKnockout i dont spin out the hexs in my slash i use stock wheels and proline and it a bullet proff part i race mine on a circle dirt track with my laps and bash it all the time
Mine came with it in the package along side the high speed gearing…..keep in mind I bought mine new in 2015 though…..it’s probably cost effective for Traxxas not to include it
That is ridiculous, how hard it is to access that diff lol. I know it’s sacrilege to say it but the TLR SCTE 3.0 is just so much better in every way, from materials aluminum, carbon fibre towers, shocks etc… to the centre of gravity. Does anyone know how they stack up for lap times?
The centre diff will help it on track. We want some track footage now. Loved it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah that might be something I might wanna do to my Slash as well. I’ve stripped out quite a few of the 12mm wheel hexes myself
Gave my previous slash to my nephew and bought another from eBay I’m adding the centre diff with 1mill fluid and 500k front and rear
Nice! That’s nice of you to gift your original Slash to your nephew…I’m sure he appreciates it!

Thanks for the advice! All of the bearings spin smoothly. I really don’t think that the wheel nuts are loosening. I could be wrong though

@@mulberry8930 those are the highest quality plastics they make
On my slash I put the aluminum hexes on and that fixed the problem of spinning the hex
It’s the hex in the wheel that ends up spinning
That's going to work out good on that track. Glad to hear your going to keep hitting the track. Racing my T6.2 tonight. Have a good one👊
Good luck! Yeah my hope is to try to go there on a regular basis
Center diff will be awesome for the track. Speed running idk. Most people eliminate the Centre diff and go straight spool :)
Yeah this ones not really gonna be for speed runs though
Ultimately, what did you do about this situation? Is there a steel gear that goes with that center diff? You need a follow up video that straightens this out.
No I switched the slipper clutch back in….then I ended up putting the center diff from the Traxxas Hoss in it
You need absolute hardened pinion gears when running metal spur gears
Thanks for the tip!

I honestly have no idea. That sounds right though. 10k in the rear and 30k in the front diff
Nolan, I’ve been staying away from Traxxas cars because of axle snapping. What axles are you using? I have mips on my stampede 4x4 vxl.

It didn’t break on me but I took it out quite awhile ago….I run the Traxxas Hoss center diff now….usually on 4s Lipo

@@rctrucks2094 it held up well when I ran it

Awesome
Thanks for the information
No problem!
Nice vid again 👍. I am a true fan 😉
Thanks! 😉
04:00. Thank you. This helps☕️
You’re welcome 😉
Getting aluminum wheel hubs helps out.
I've changed my diff out and now when I go to the traxxas app the speed doesent show up
Does the center diff not have a speed sensor?
I’m not exactly sure how that works? It might not. I took all of my sensors out so I have no way of knowing
What weight on oil in center diff? Thanks!
Not sure….whatever is stock

So you’re saying that your differential doesn’t fit?
Hey thank you. It does fit, I have one car and one diff I took apart. But it’s now binding, no marks on the housing just binding gears.
@@ryangriffiths2290 so it’s the original ring and pinion that you reinstalled? Or is it new?
get the robinson racing slipper clutch i have one in my slash it works great and the spur is metal with it
