I like your point at the end, its important to be able to differentiate a developer making their game more grindy and prolonged to bore you into opening your wallet and a developer just trying to give their game replay value!!

For me leaderboards arent a factor in replayability, i tend to like perfecting a platformer no damgae run or mindlessly grinding for materials on trove
