I have never heard of grey's Marine or Steve until this video but I too was very impressed by his humble confidence and no nonsense approach to building boats! There's no doubt he's going to be very successful! And like you I too have sons (3) and i would be very proud to see them as independent and strong as Steve and doing something they're passionate about!

What a wonderful interview, this man is hugely experienced, very highly motivated and enthusiastic.
I was particularly impressed by his honesty in saying that only the bare minimum of tools were necessary.
Many would have wanted to talk up about specialised tooling and equipment necessary to do this work in order to impress customers, but he said it straight and truthfully.
The relocation to town will have a positive effect, as will the spreading word of his craftsmanship.
Honesty goes a long way in boat building. Clients want a builder they can trust, at the end of the day everyone wants to know their boat will get them home!
This is super motivating! You aussie blokes are humble as they come and bloody hard workers! Good on you brother wish you a successful future!

Couldn't agree more Wayne. The way Grays Marine are going they won't need much luck in the future. High-quality designs, well-built vessels and honesty is what does well in the boating industry here in Australia, and they have it all!
Many individuals small boat builders are gone over the years. Keep it small and keep your overhead low, you will have less stress and more focus on quality build. Wish you luck and do well.

Well done brother. Sweet looking boats. When you get ready for a new welding machine. Check out the Miller 350p with their push/pull gun. Safeboat USA switched to them years ago and claimed about 40% improvement in welding performance. When I was doing repairs with mine in the carribbean it was a dream. When properly set you can rip a super long weld with 0 spatter and 0 warp. You will find in time that welding machines may have similar specifications the actual welds may be incomparable. Would be nice to come visit and do some fishing. Good luck!

As a native English speaker growing up in the New York City area, and having heard plenty of accents, I can honestly say that I could barely identify this fellows language as English at all! Only once I turn on the Closed Captioning did I suddenly realize what he was saying. It is fascinating! Like an auditory puzzle! Also - the boats are cool

Not really, these boats are built bespoke. Each one is put together individually by Steve, so you wouldn't see much happening while he's on camera ;)

this is what is wrong with the video. A guy standing in front of a boat talking with his arms behind his back, while all we want to see is him building a freaking boat.
