25:13 The Pout Points being literal and part of the narrative is hilarious. I wish you'd highlighted that in your summary. She literally has the power to pout the world into bending to her whims.
This is one of my favourite childhood games on Nintendo DS. It's fun and quite challenging (for a kid myself back then). Glad to see more people play it.
I love the Pout Points system! Don't want to do a stupid tedious quest? Pout! And then there was one quest, I think you had to use Pout Points to complete it.
I got this game because of the cute art, but only played it a couple hours. I searched for the Japanese title, apparently GAE did a sequel on Android. 爆ムズパズル~世界はあたしでまわってる~ There's just a few videos on TH-cam. It has the same name and same cute Elise/Angela character but otherwise looks like a kind of block sliding (monster kicking) puzzle game.
You're right, game like this are designed to be played in short burst, I notice it when I decide to replay some of my old DS jrpg like luminous arc, it show their nature as handheld game
Wow your experience with this game was completely different from mine! I basically never used magic except for the heal spells in my run because I started grinding cash as soon as I realized the inn's stat ups were permanent. I invested all my cash into strength and eventually hit the cap of 255 at approximately level 30. The "nothing here..." prompt I kept geeting after clearing out a tile felt kinda ominous so I eventually started role-playing as some god of death and would clear out every tile on the map and then replace the biome with wasteland to show it devoid of life. Every mortal that dared meet my vorpal gaze was left asunder in one measly blow
i liked how you differentiated between yourself and elise ("i did [such and such]" vs. "elise did [such and such]") you and the player character are separate, though you still act through her; you engage with game mechanics, she lives in her world. i dunno, a minor thing, but i appreciated it. looking at all the 1997 n64 games on mobygames... dang, there's a lotta good ones! i'm gonna guess either mischief makers or mystical ninja starring goemon (hopefully guessing two games isn't cheating)
Omg!!!! This game has a special place in my heart! My mom bought this for me on a whim when I was a little girl and I still have the og cartridge! I love this game so much I had to archive the og OST cause it was so good (and the other was deleted). I wish more people knew about this game, especially the psp one no one talks about ❤
I played a lot of PSP rpg's but never hears of this one. Definitely going to give it a try! I love the sprites, they are very cute and fit the game well. Also love the commentary, full of positivity. Keep it up!
thank you so much for making a video about this game! I've been revisiting old games I played in my childhood and this one barely had anyone talking about it :'>> and it was too grindy for me to replay myself. YT recommendations W today :DD
This looks so cool; I actually didn't watch the whole video cause after awhile I wanted to try it myself (I wanna avoid spoilers) but I'll def come back after I play it. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm not sure why I got recommended this but this video was really interesting and your presentation was very good for a small channel. Subscribed, looking forward to more!
Never heard of this game before, but stuck around for your commentary. I was very surprised that you only started making this kind of content recently! Subbed, keep it up :)
Master of the monster lair is a very neat and fun game for sure. I would highly recommend giving it a try. They're fairly cheap to acquire copies of as well. The monster lair game even has a multiplayer aspect to it! Though, i never got to try it myself, due to the games being largely written off as shovelware.
As someone who loves Master of the Monster Lair and wishes there was a game like it for modern systems, SAME. I wish I was somewhere I could buy an actual cartridge for cheap, because I loved that game to bits even if it was grindy. Actually hearing it wa part of a series of games, and that the characters appeared in this game was something I didn't expect, but am glad to know now. It is so fun to go each day i to your dungeon, farming items, digging up further space, planning how to do room layouts to get the most out of the combat encounters without ending up unable to beat them. AND WHEN YOU GET THE SLIME, AND CAN START GETTING A CHANCE TO GET SPECIFIC ENEMY BODY PARTS, and that acts like equipment AND skillset for the slime... it was something extremely enjoyable to toy around. Later on your mage friend who cooks for you decides to help you and becomes the party member dedicated to spellcasting, and you can give gear to all 3 members (depending on your slime's current part setup they can equip certain items), and... there's really not much more than that but I enjoyed myself to bits doing that. So yeah, definitely giving a glowing recommendation to it too.
Im so glad you're enjoying making these videos, and I hope to be able to watch the next ones! This was a really good way to experience this game I've seen so many times on roms lists when I was much younger but never continued playing, thank you for sharing!
fun video for a cute game! definitely looks like a great fit on my pocket handheld for playing during work breaks. subscribed, looking forward to future videos 🐠
Wait, there's a THIRD GAME in the dungeon maker series? excuse me what? Also using characters from previous games whose speciality is related to the aspect needed is pretty clever. Funny enough "my world my way" is on my backlog since very long ago as well...All i hear about it here tells me I would have loved to play it when I was younger. xD Oh, right, the perma-food buffs. Yeah that's the main way to progress in Dungeon maker because there's no levels per say...Ok so it does stay consistant to the universe, neat! It's funny that you basically did a base-stats run by chance, that explains why so many bosses nearly 1-shot you on that adventure. Like said, having the final weapons made the required alate-game grind easier so...speedrun strat?
I think the only other RPG staring two party members would have to be Chaos Rings. There’s even a system where you can pair up in order to attack together to deal more damage, at the cost of the both of you taking damage when attacked.
8:21 Speaking of RPGs that focus on having a party size of 2, Beyond Divinity is a game of you, a Paladin, being bound to a Death Knight and needing to return to your plane of existance. Thought it should be mentioned.
GAE's last game was in 2012, a spinoff entry in the Suikoden franchise. After that they became a support studio for Konami and went mostly uncredited before being disbaned and merged into other teams, sadly 😕.
I remember getting this game, I had to go to another store to get it, and imagined my surprise to learn that it was discontinued after three months of being released
I was gonna say Tales of Vesperia but that is Estellise, which is just a weird kinda royalized Elise. I'll have to toss this one on the ole DSi and give it a try myself.
2:11 Unfortunately not, Princess Elise from Sonic 2006 is a thing, alas. 😂 8:27 Another infamous RPG that makes you go through the game with a party of two (most of the time) is Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest on the SNES.
Oh huh, I instantly recognised the Tater Bombs from Master Of The Monster Lair! I bet they're made by the same company, they both have subversive takes on cliché jrpgs. (In that one your town doesn't have a dungeon, so you make your own and raise it strong enough to then kick it's ass 😂)
OMG KATE AND OWEN?! Hell yeah, it takes place in the same universe?? Awesome! Thanks for giving more info on the company, I had no clue about any of their other games.
If you'd played it every day for just 15-30 minutes you would have never finished it lmao. Unless... Okay let's do the math. Around 54 days. And then we also need to add the factor that you might not feel like playing it a few times, or new games on switch release which might make you forget about...
Wait, why is Elise x Nero bad? Did I miss something? Are they supposed to be different ages? I just assumed its one of those cliche shoujo styles where teen dudes are excessively tall. Or are they related or something? I thought he was just like a butler? I dont think it was obvious from this vid what the issue is, maybe its something that's clearer when playing? I'll definitely check out this game myself!
I was also totally expecting the cliché ending to be her ending up with him instead of the adventurer jerk. I'm glad they just went for a refreshing end of self discovery and realising she doesn't need a romantic relationship to validate all the cool stuff she accomplished on her own. I hope whatever lies in her future, it's a happy one! This vid got me surprisingly invested in the characters!
That was a good game I have fun with, its on a girly side but it still a good game. Only the magic side I have a hard time with that dawn parrot that have hard time to learn spell.
Glad to see more people play it.
i was NOT expecting new upload from your channel, last one was 11 YEARS AGO. nice to see your doing well!
I love the Pout Points system!
Don't want to do a stupid tedious quest? Pout!
And then there was one quest, I think you had to use Pout Points to complete it.

No rules for guessing since there’s no prize for getting it right. You’ll find out if either of your predictions are correct in January! :)
I'm really glad Nero gets unstuck to the tree (and that one rock?) at the end of the game, good for him 😊
I ADORE your video format. Talking about the title and box art are so interesting that not many TH-camrs have done.
Thank you!! I’m happy to talk about things that interest me.
Omg!!!! This game has a special place in my heart! My mom bought this for me on a whim when I was a little girl and I still have the og cartridge! Ah, I miss this game. I like the protagonist so much. Thank you for the video ❤ love your choice of words 😂

so cool to see a video covering this game, thank you for this!!!!
I really love all the creature designs, thanks for showing them!
I love discovering new DS games like this. Great video ❤
This looks so cool; I actually didn't watch the whole video cause after awhile I wanted to try it myself (I wanna avoid spoilers) but I'll def come back after I play it.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Awesome video.
I especially loved the game title bit, since I learned something new.
I'm not sure why I got recommended this but this video was really interesting and your presentation was very good for a small channel. Subscribed, looking forward to more!
Never thought I’d see this channel upload again, wow! Glad to see you’re still alive
Never heard of this game before, but stuck around for your commentary. I was very surprised that you only started making this kind of content recently! Subbed, keep it up :)
this is one of those DS games I’ve never got to own but enjoyed on emulator. Avalon Code is another DS game, I’d think you would like it
Thanks for the recommendation! That does look like a game that I would enjoy.

I'm only at 2:40, but I'm already loving this lol.
Great video! I love learning things about games I never knew existed, and that I probably won't ever play myself
fun video for a cute game! definitely looks like a great fit on my pocket handheld for playing during work breaks. subscribed, looking forward to future videos 🐠

2:09 Are you trolling when you said that or are you making fun of sonic 06?
A Ds game I’ve never heard of from a Channel I’ve never seen? Yes please!
Incredible video ❤ I really want to play this for myself now. Excited for more content ❤

I had always wanted to play this game, but I could never find a copy 😢
It’s so nice to see someone making a video on it 🥰
What an excellent video. Easy sub, looking forward to more.
618 views is a damn travesty for something of this quality.
I loved the video, I loved the game and I definitely loved the usage of the Mother 3 ost.
You gained one more subscriber.
OHHH I MISSED YOUR VIDS!! WB !!!

I remembered playing this game for a bit. It was pretty fun
I forgot about this omg, sooo many nostalgic memories ❤ I got it in a bargain bin at Kmart 😂
It really deserves an HD remaster at somepoint!
I remember reading about this game on a magazine and then playing it.
Cute premise, ok game. Damn final dungeon was harder than I expected.
I remember getting this game, I had to go to another store to get it, and imagined my surprise to learn that it was discontinued after three months of being released
"I think she is the first princess in a videogame to have that name."
*Begins burying Sonic 06'* Yes, it is.
I played it once long ago. Kinda grind, but very charm and fun. Enemy desing is great
RPG where you play as a cute anime princess? Sounds like my kind of game.
Final fantasy Mystic quest for the ends was my childhood and the party system was a max two characters
I had master of the monster lair, me god the nostalgia I just got hit with
2:06 My World, My Way was released in 2008 - 2009 whereas Sonic 06 was released in 2006 and has a princess named Elise.
Oh man 2008 atlus! It's probably worth playing it for the quality translation
Try "Adventures to go" on the psp
Would love to see a ROM hack of this someday that ports in the PSP exclusive content.
8:27 Another infamous RPG that makes you go through the game with a party of two (most of the time) is Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest on the SNES.
i remember playing this game with cheats as a kid because i only cared about the story haha
oh wow this looks super cute
Thanks for the video
Oh huh, I instantly recognised the Tater Bombs from Master Of The Monster Lair! I bet they're made by the same company, they both have subversive takes on cliché jrpgs. (In that one your town doesn't have a dungeon, so you make your own and raise it strong enough to then kick it's ass 😂)

Nice do more its a nice hame review
Neat little JRPG
Was this game made by the same devs of dungeon maker on the nds?
You have such a pretty voice
If you'd played it every day for just 15-30 minutes you would have never finished it lmao. Unless... Okay let's do the math. Around 54 days. And then we also need to add the factor that you might not feel like playing it a few times, or new games on switch release which might make you forget about...
Olay I'm only two minutes in and I'm gonna stop watching and start playing it right now lol
next video on the unemployed Ninja????????????????????
Wait, why is Elise x Nero bad? Did I miss something? Are they supposed to be different ages? I just assumed its one of those cliche shoujo styles where teen dudes are excessively tall. Or are they related or something? I thought he was just like a butler?

Ignoring kh3... There is also the Castlevania like game with Miriam which has food items that perma buff.
I still have this cartridge I think. Was hard asf it wasn't funny!
2:07
....
Uh.
You forgot Sonic 06...
