I think some people think tools numbers would be a lot higher, considering how big the band is. But people forget they haven’t been on Spotify for that long.
Tools numbers would be higher if they weren't prog. You can fit 2-3 average length songs into one Tool song.

Man you’re sleeping on Queens of the Stone Age. Soooooo good. I mostly listen to metalcore and similar genres/sub genres, but I listen to a lot of stuff, and QOTSA is one of my faves.
GenX still streams, and that's why More Than Words by Extreme was so high. It wouldn't be a bad thing to get yourself acquainted to the band, Nik. Nuno Bettencourt was their guitarist. He's one of Rabea's main influences.

Extreme’s III Sides to Every Story is a Top 5 albums all Time, to me.
More Than Words, from their previous album, was a really popular song in the early 90’s for the general public. A fantastic ballad.

He did say he seemed to know one song because of GH, which isn't specifically No One Knows, but I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't know their most famous song. I don't know any of their songs except for this one, and I'm less aware of songs and bands in rock and metal than he is.

When did Metal become so ambiguous? Or why is so much considered "metal" now?
Anything at any given time that was heavier than the current rock music was shoehorned as metal. I'm not sure if you're implying that you dislike how the term 'metal' is more broad than you think of it or not, but it's more likely to pull in more fans if we as a community accept that metal can be broad in a certain context. There's tons of metal bands I love that pull from outside of metal. Car Bomb's Elliot Hoffman has a background in jazz drumming, Author and Punisher does some really gnarly sounding stuff with electronics, and Lorna Shore's Will Ramos is influenced by classical music.

Extreme is actually a brilliant Funk / Hard rock band from the 80s/90s with Nuno Bettencourt really shredding back in the day. It's pretty good actaully to this day, just More than Words is horrible. Try Warheads or Pornograffitti.
