It's really nice having a non-binary person in the V-tubing community that is so talented, patient and understanding. U-san is truly someone that I admire
there's actually quite a few enbys in the community, most just don't address either bc it's not really that relevant or in most cases bc of the chara they're portraying, especially if you're in a big agency (which was u-san's case before they debuted as an indie) ;u;
Non-binary? Tf is that
@@Drud You're going to open a can of worms you don't want by asking that question 😅
@@Drud guess you didn't watch the video of trying to be understanding...
Trans persons are cool,NBs are silly gooses
Usan goes by they/them but there are people who don’t know this and use he/him instead. The community gets a bit toxic at times and some fans of Usan have been quite harsh to ppl who unintentionally used he/him. Usan wants us to be patient with people who get the pronouns wrong instead of throwing curses and swears. That’s what I understand from this video but pls correct me if am wrong.
It can seem like some get mad but it is hard to tell through text. But yeah U-san wants us all to be very patient and understanding especially with the fans that can't speak English and use translator when writing out stuff in English.
I had no idea that they used the same pronouns as me!!! Thanks for telling me
@@joraslittle699 yep some time ago U-san did a space during pride month to talk about their experiences and confirmed they are a Non-binary bisexual person :)
I had no idea, I was just referring to them as I would when they were corporate. This issue was brought up at that time and they were very stern on stating that they wear a boy full stop but I guess it's because of the company..
@@makkisen7194 Likely because when they were in a company they were playing a character that is a guy
U-san is so understanding and patient, we truly don't deserve someone as talented and amazing as them :))
Do they have a TH-cam channel??
@@invu_lynnYep, you can search up simply U-san or Unnamed
Bottom line is, people shouldn't make a huge deal if some are not using the proper pronounce. It requires great understanding and acceptance and it's not worth the drama and only causes stress to you and our Oshi. Love and Peace everyone
Fr, not everyone is aware of everyone's pronouns, especially if they had changed them or if they never met them in the first place.
For some it takes time to truly learn, even then as long as they're trying and are truly apologetic for messing them up, then all is good. Unless they are Purposely misgendering for the sake of trolling or trying to push boundaries/limitations, there's no reason to be so vicious towards a mistake.
I can't tell if the spelling was sarcastic or not, so just in case, it's Pronouns*
Pronounce is a verb relating to pronunciation !
omaigod i've seen u-san's model before but this is the first time i saw it moving and it looks gorgeous 😍😍 kanimama did a great job
Kani is freaking AMAZING and they can change color as well which is just wild.
It's okay to misgender someone by accident especially if they were someone else in the past. People can get confused and thats okay. Just gotta calmly explain their pronouns to those who are unaware and also understand if you were unaware.
I often see people quick to jump at others throats but its really not that big of a deal and yeah, we just all gotta be patient and respectful of each other.
yeah i've had a couple of times in private where i referred to U-san as "he" because of their previous persona so im guilty of this...but its not intentional i promise you
It's fine as Since not a lot of ppl knew because back before U-san rebranded their account they had Non-binary on their profile but took it off. But they recently did a Twitter space and confirmed to everyone that they r a Non-binary person
Well i think its normal to call them a he some times without noticing it because we were used to call them like that. I also feel a little guilty
Ngl I'm kind of guilty of this too.
As someone who has come to terms with my homosexuality and is now reflecting on possibly being genderfluid, I personally don't have a problem with someone misgendering me because the monolith is nonexistent for me. However, I have misgendered one or two people myself; they weren’t hung up on it, but I had felt a twang of guilt from it. To hear U-san address this and speaking on a compassionate level is appreciative to someone like me who is still exploring certain aspects of my life and trying to connect to people who are like me.
Hey, fellow genderfluid person :D
[Apologies for this long comment fndbsgag]
I want to mention that in a lot of languages unfortunately there's no gender neutrality. For example, I'm Italian and for the longest time I didn't even know of the concept of non binary because of everything being classified as femminine or masculine in my language.
We don't have a pronoun that can be used as a neutral one. Even 'it' has a femminine and masculine variant ('esso'/'essa'.) For a group of things of mixed genders we use the masculine pronouns or adjectives.
There could be people who use translators whose language is heavily gendered, and naturally the translator is going to literally translate it. I was also never tought at school about gender neutrality and learned everything from the internet.
U-san being so understanding is amazing, because I'm sure that people could be unaware of their gender or not understand the concept of being non-binary. I'm sure that lots of people don't intend malice. Thank you U-san.
To add to the translator issue, for some languages the system automatically uses the masculine pronoun in the translation, even if what was written there before wasn't a masculine pronoun.
i know this is probably unrelated but like, im not a vtuber fan… however, this person’s model has got one of the most sickest designs i’ve seen, the nonbinary drip is unstoppable as foretold
Their vtuber mama is amazing she is such a great artist. They can also change their color completely into their white form.
So, U-san is non-binary. Should i use they/them or he/him? Because when U-san speak Thai, U-san use masculine words such as krub(ครับ) and pom(ผม). I will use they/them from now on just to be safe.
Wait, U-San speaks Thai?!
@@Jennifer-ok6cv yep, U-san already collap with Thai vtuber twice (or mpre i am not sure).
U-san goes by they/them from what i know
@@linnb5206 oh okay! Thank you❤️
U-san can speak I think it was 3 or 4 I can't remember but you can check their debut stream as they put which languages they know on their when introducing themselves
I've seen plenty of confusion from non-native English speakers. From what I understand (I only speak English so I can't say for sure) some other languages don't have gender-neutral words at all. So I can understand why it'd be confusing to people who might not have a concept of gender-neutral in the first place.
I very much understand it’s personal and some people don’t wanna show their face age or gender I get it I’m the same way and people need to respect that some people aren’t comfortable with the fact telling everyone one thing that’s very important and if it ever happens just be patient don’t even ask the questions bc u never know
Uwaw!!! U-san is so handsome!! Their model is chef's kiss!!!
I think its always important to be patient with those who want to learn or do it accidentally but i hope U-sans heart is not that endlessly big that they let willfully ignorant people roam free in their chat. Its not fair for them or their own chat to risk their own mental health just so some AH who hates gender queer people can spout nonsense when they dont understand a subject in a place that doesn't belong to them.
U-san is very kind but I believe they know how to deal with ppl like that. They won't put up with ignorant people. They tell us never interact with them because that's actually what they want
and this is one of the many reasons why they are my favorite streamer
Unless people intentionally misgender someone for the sake of upsetting them, it isn't that big of a deal. It's common mistake that can easily be corrected. People need to chill out a bit when correcting people, don't just jump to hostility.
u san is so majestic
U-san also went by he/him... Their old fans will know that... I have seen some of U-san's fans going mad if someone uses he/him pronounces.. That is not it, they just wants us to understand it... As they say, it takes time and I also understand that... So please do not spread hatred against who use he/him as they might not know.... It is not an issue because of what U-san uses or used in the past... I don't want to be disrespectful but people who know, know...
Damn. I used to called U-san "he" because of the past (if you know you know) but I'll be much careful now.
What pronouns then
I didnt watch them sm when in the company and all BUT NOW?!? HELL YEAH
Somebody stop my heart from falling inlove with this unnamed angel aaaahhhhhhh❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
U san❤
Dam, U-san is perfect
I've been having dreams about U-San.
That voice... it feels... familiar
🤭🤫
What are you talking about….🤷🏻♀️ no, it doesn’t he..he..he
Oh my gosh this whole time I’ve been using he/him because of before this era I feel horrible, I’ll try my hardest to correct myself.
Don't beat yourself up over it. Lots of ppl didn't know. You know now so it's all okay
Everybody’s been talking about misgendering U-San as a guy but I’ve been sadly misgendering U-San as a girl. I’ll be sure to use they/them now!
omg that model is so good ❣️
It's amazing! It's not shown here but they can change into a white form also
Kinda off topic I love U-San's Vtuber character.
Their vtuber mama Kani did amazing. They have two forms
Were they yugo!?
Yes
Oh thank goodness now i can actually use the right pronouns
I love usan they helped me realize im genderfluid 😭one of my biggest inspirations fr fr ❤️❤️
OMFG I DIDNT KNOW AND NOW I FEEL SO BAD
Don't feel bad. It's perfectly fine since U-san doesn't have their pronouns listed and only spoke about it in a Twitter space. That's why they want ppl to be understanding since many people just don't know.
It's nice how kind and loving they are is it's really amazing having a non-binary vtuber❤ And I'm genuinely sorry if i mess up something because english is not my first language i sometimes use auto correct😅
It's totally fine don't apologize 😊
That came out perfectly.
@@UReiButterfly thanks😊❤!
as a trans and genderfluid boy, I feel hurtful when my pronoun preference being invalid when someone intentionally disrespect and even degrade my existence by many ways such as insulting.
I do agree its necessary for ppl taking the time,as theres some time for ppl to accept and self-reflect as well, like upon my feeling, yes I do feel very very hard and sad to be treated like this, yet it has to be patient for ppl to accept who I am, like Usan say
And with U-san's wide fanbase pronouns can get lost with translations so sometimes even if u see someone using a different pronoun it's because English isn't their first language cuz translators mix it up.
@@UReiButterfly i agree, like in chinese, theres no official corresponding translation to they/them, but here's good change that nowadays in my place I see some nonbinary folks do create the new chinese pronoun (it can be neopronoun as well) to be they/them is X也 instead of 他們 🖤 (they prefer not to use 他們 bc 他 in chinese means "he/him" which can lead to misgendering nonbinary folks)
Im not sure what other countries languages do have other non male female gender pronouns, but no matter its official or not, I would love to learn more 🖤
U-san is so patient and understanding! I've looked everywhere for their pronouns and I'm so glad that I finally found one that stated theirs. Whenever I don't know someone's pronouns, I always default to they/them to avoid misgendering someone until I know their pronouns, so I'm glad that I was using the right one all along.
Hello i’m new and i was wondering if U-san has like an introduction video or stream? I’d like to know more about them like where they are from etc. if anyone could tell me more about them or link me to an introduction it’d be great, thank you.
On their channel under live section it is a long stream but they have their stream called it's Nice to see you again. That video has U-san's Lore and after that U-san does talk about themselves and gives us more stuff about them like their likes and other things
Thank you so much.
I had no idea that unnämed was non-binary. I wasn’t sure what they identified as so this is good to know
WAIT IS THIS YUGO????
That was how they were known as before however they are known as U-san now :))
@@saharamsamsundar6303wait really??!!!
Yep it’s yugo ^^
but there’s ppl saying how u shouldn’t disclose a vtubers past identity and stuff so~ idk :/
The past was the past. U-san is just them now so he have to be respectful and not bring anything up to them as they have moved on
@@Osamu_Dazaiii yes, that's the etiquette in the vtubing space, don't disclose creators' past lives and especially not creators who were part of a company in their past as there's a p strict NDA regarding that. Creators who have always been indie might be more lax about it but in general, don't disclose or discuss that stuff where the creators themselves might be able to see it
THEYRE JUST LIKE ME I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
I didnt know they were nb so i used to use he/him so much 😢
It's okay many fans didn't know so that's why U-san said this. Cuz they know many people probably didn't know so that's why they said to be patient :)
One thing I was wondering, would it be fine for a vtuber/content creator that's staying anonymous to use/be referred to with they/them pronouns even if they do identify as something else that's not enby, similar to how people use they/them when they don't know someone else's gender? Or would that be bad like cancelled or disliked kinda bad?
I mean Vtuber is kinda like RPing, most of them have some kind pf lore which obviously isn't real(dragons, demons stuff)
I don't think "pretending" to be another gender is harmful unless you use it with malicious intentions, like scamming people or something.
Plus staying anonymous online is normal, not everyone wants to show their private information out to strangers (private information includes sex/gender), even questionnaire have options that says "I choose not to reveal my gender".
Referring back to your question, I think using they/them to stay anonymous and actually saying you're non binary or something is different, the first one is not wanting to reveal your gender and the second is actually identifying as something.
Sorry for this long paragraph I just wanted to express my opinion clearly 😅
Okay I just want to address one thing from your comment which is people might get cancelled or disliked for literally anything including using gender neutral pronouns to stay anonymous, but that doesn't mean that it's bad at all. It should be fine especially if someone wants their privacy to be kept that tightly, that's not something people should judge others for and the fact that some people will anyway does not mean it's bad in itself
Edit: plus, even if the creator did something bad along the way, if it's not related to this fact at all then nobody should try using it as an ammo to further "prove" that they're a bad person, as it has no correlation to the issue and at that point you're just adding unnecessary fuel to an already lit fire, don't do that!
No apologizing as you did nothing wrong. If anything, you did right. This helped explain and clarify to me that it's pretty much fine. Is it the same for a streamer that isn't a vtuber but doesn't show themselves? I thank you for your answer.
Your answer is reassuring and also does remind me of the ridiculous side of cancel culture. I'm glad to have seen your reply as it helps a lot. Thank you!
@@twentyonetortas5921 I think it's understandable for anyone to not reveal their gender online, usually this is recommended because it's safer and you won't know what kind of people you can come across online.
Huh
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
??
Wait ,what r their pronouns, i really dont know , so far i was using he/him but ,do they go by they/them or smth
Yep it’s they/them! :)
@@Osamu_Dazaiii thanks a lot💕
I like to think of it this way, I know this was posted a few months ago, but he was once known as somebody else that old hymn used to go by, he him, which is why mostly people are confused, nobody really was up to date, especially me, I didn't know they used they them before they left people continued to use He him for U-San I think new fans of U-San need to understand that he wasn't always known as U-san he was once in a very good place ss well not gonna bring up his past name or the group, because I feel like it's unnecessary and it's over with, but yes, that's all people knew them from was the thing that they used to be in i need people to understand that he was not always going buy U-san but i respect them and their pronouns
I'm a masculine nb from latin america. I feel like a horrible person 90% of times because i have genuine trouble getting used to saying "they" in singular because where i live, we don't have an equivalent to singular "they", our neutral pronoun is "he" 99% of times and i swear I'm not using this as an excuse to not refer to someone as "they" because I DO refer to them like that when that's their pronoun, but sometimes my tongue slips and i call them "he" by accident and i just feel like trash instantl
A patient non-binary entity, incredible, most of the non-binary community could learn about him, or her, or them.
I'm confused....the songs are great though
U-san just wants everyone to be accepting of their pronouns and for others to not get mad if someone uses the wrong ones because many don't know what pronouns they use
I respect the pronouns but hopefully i can be forgiven if i end up messing up i hope this doesn't sound bad but I'm not used to they them pronouns every one i have ever known has gone by she/ her he/him
non-binary vtuber??? non-binary vtuber!!!!!
but what gender
U-san is Non binary.
Non binary
omg
I don't really feel comfortable of using they/them 😅 Can I use he/him?
They/them are their preferred pronouns
LGBT person here. On the one hand, people make mistakes and having patience for new fans is a good thing. On the other hand, a lot of that aggressive "Don't misgender!!!" is because a lot of non-binary/trans people get hatred, and misgendering on purpose is unfortunately common. Letting people know the correct pronouns is the only means we have to correct that as commenters. (Also I'm not a U-san fan so apologies if it's a different vibe here!)
U-san just wants to be patient with others because alot of ppl in the fanbase don't speak English and use translators. So many times the translator does default to her or him and in many other languages they don't have a translation for they/them so that is way they don't want to want people to go on the defense right away and get mad at others
@@UReiButterfly For sure! Having patience for new/ESL fans is good. But if someone is told the correct pronouns and refuses to use them (or worse, doubles down and denies NB people are real) that's when it's time to push back.
He sound like yugo

U-san is Non binary. They talked about it here and during pride month in a Twitter space they r a non binary bisexual so they use they/them pronouns
Please use they them thank you
They are non binary and use they/them pronouns
Huh, never thought i see the light of day about a vtuber being a non-binary. Don't get me wrong, I respect u-san even if he decided to be a non-binary person. It's just that, I blame the western culture for making the transgender community looked like someone that is mentally unstable because I like the old days where the trans community were just an ordinary people that just have different taste in life. So yeah, all i wanted to say is, I respect u-san decision for being a non-binary and I'm willing to understand his way of life. (sorry for the miss pronounce it still takes me some time to get used to it)
literally most of this did not have to be written 😭😭🙏
Issue with this is people like U-san who use such pronouns more often than not get a bad reputation cause most of them say the most outlandish stuff while having such pronouns. Its why nobody takes those seriously
U-san just wants ppl to understand and don't want others to attack others if they use wrong pronouns since U-san never spoke about it publicly until last pride month when they let ppl know their pronouns and sexuality.
@@OkashiiAmerican No they have not.
