He has been the best thing to happen to texas since Vince young and despite his play calling sometimes, i wouldn’t rather have any other coach (besides saban lol)
@@FastRT yes I was there for the dark ages so I agree with you. Sark has turned this program around a complete 180. We are winning the games we would normally choke away and beating good teams again. My only gripe is that this game seemed more of the coaches (plural) fault than the players (excluding kicker). I just don’t like how everyone is ganging up on Quinn. People don’t appreciate him after the slew of QBs who couldn’t hit the side of a barn. It’s easy to blame Quinn when a Manning is the backup.
This is has been a problem for three years now. And it happens regardless of the level of competition. Sark is an elite play designer and opening script creator but he has been horrible when it comes to second half adjustments and playcalling. For a long time I put a lot of the blame on Quinn because of his limited athletic ability and his bad deep ball throwing but at the end of the day, its been long enough for Sark to find ways to work around that and he hasn't improved at all. Unfortunately this is also compounded by the fact that PKs scheme does not fit well with Sarks weaknesses. PK has done a great job but his defenses are designed to be a "bend and break you" style. They allow longer drives and time of possession to force the other team to gradually move down the field and end up getting desperate which leads to turnovers and field goals but it does forfeit time in the process. Which would be fine if Sark could compliment them but he doesn't. He either scores in a few plays, or punts in a few plays. So even when the defense is doing what they want...they end up on the field for too long. It happens over and over and over again.
The fake punt by ASU and the Cam pass never should have taken place a nd a field goal kicker that cost them the SEC championship and almost a ASU loss !

Question I have personally for him after what you could have done to the season this game do you get out of your ego and actually hire a really good play caller and you assist when the time is needed. Actually step back and be a head coach and manage the game, the clock but just the entirety of the game dude this building too much talent to just be a team that wins 10 to 11 games every year and few championships or none we will see how it plays out proud of the kids because they are having to deal with his stubbornness and still succeed HOOK'EM 🤘🏽
I will say it again. As weird as it seems, hitting those deep shots early almost cost us this ball game. For 4 years now at Texas, Sark is nothing if not consistent. When he can hit shots early, he chases those all game and does not emphasize running the ball. And he will borderline abandon the run if his backs are not picking up 5 yds a touch at least on almost every touch. He has put all this on tape and opposing teams have clued into this.
BK, Thank you for saying what nobody else is willing to say. It's crazy to think that one of the "greatest offensive minds" in college football is his own worst enemy. He has been forcing the deep ball for four years, no matter the cost. Moreover, he never learns. Maybe next year he'll have a QB who can actually connect on one.
Sark’s play calling is making Texas predictable & he’s putting Quinn in bad positions just because he wants explosive plays. And I don’t know why we don’t go down hill when it comes to running the ball. Our perimeter running game is not good. The offense put the defense in a poor position, and got gassed so I don’t think it was the defense at all. It was the offense’s fast 3 & outs that cost us! Like you said special teams too, I don’t understand why we are trying to block punts, it cost us on that first defense possession which led to 3 points. Then towards halftime we got faked out AGAIN on another special teams play. So I believe we will lose to Ohio State if the coaching for Texas isnt there.
Sark doesn't adjust the run game to the opponent. Its so annoying. The outside zone run works great when the opponent either doesn't have speed up front to defend it or isn't committed to the run. ASU is small up front but they can move laterally and they were clearly willing to bring bodies up to focus on stopping the run. So the obvious move should have been to run between the tackles, not moving laterally where the smaller ASU dline can fight around blocks.
This is spot on! So many think it’s blasphemy to criticize coaches or players. We aren’t BU or ASU where we should just be happy to win. ASU showed that excellent coaching can overcome superior talent. We won't win a Natty unless Sark changes. I hope CDC nudges him to get help with in game.
Well I've been a Longhorns fan long enough to know what Sark does right. His results are way better than predecessors. He recruits better than any recent predecessors. Overall, I see your point but I like Sark.
I agree. For whatever reason there was some bad strategy and play calling in this particular game. Except for some penalties and the attempted blocked punt which I would argue was the most disastrous play of game. Quinn Ewers did an incredible job of pulling this game out. The Defense played well but can’t leave them on the field for that long to get tired. Inspite of that Hookem.
This video is so on point. I was thinking some of these same things during the game. Real head scratcher from Sark. Makes me think he spent the prior week game planning for Ohio State and just thought he could sleepwalk through this ASU game? If that's the case he better have a damn good plan for Ohio State to show for it.
If Quinn threw that pass to Bond on a rope like he did at the end of the game and overtime, we would have scored on the next two plays and you'd be praising Sark.
This was a typical Sark performance as a play caller. After the first 2 TD’s in the 1st quarter, I thought we were going to put up 50 or 60 points on ASU, then the rest of the way, not so much until OT. This happens far too often with Sark. He breaks out of the gate like he’s a world beater, and then his offense is virtually non-existent until late in the 4th quarter or OT. I saw a statistic that said Texas was the worst team in college football in scoring in the 3rd quarter, averaging 3 points a game in the 3rd quarter. I have heard TV and radio analysts say Sark does a very good job scripting his first 12 offensive plays. Why then does he screw the pooch the rest of the way, especially in the 2nd half, and especially in the 3rd quarter? I submit it is his ego that he is supposed to be a offensive play calling genius, that gets in the way of calling a good, effective game. I have heard many times, in my 72 years on this Earth, a color commentator talking about this condition of offensive play callers who stymie the effectiveness of their offenses, because they try to get “too cute” with their play calling, that they outsmart themselves. This, I believe, is why our offensive scoring effectiveness diminishes in the second half. Sark believes all this hype that he is an “offensive genius “, and gets way too cute with his play calls, instead of taking what the defense gives him, and just move the chains and run the clock out and get the win.
Agree 100% with lack of clock consumption after the Sun Devil's tied it at 24. If team play and coaching does not improve, the next game will be over by halftime.
Question, on the safety....would it have been legal for Quinn to just spike the ball as an incomplete pass? He had recievers and a RB within a short distance of him...if he just throws that in the turf behind Wisner or Helm or somebody, that would have avoided the safety right? Not blaming Quinn of course, but just food for thought in the future if a play like that occurred again. Because the ball never passed the line of scrimmage or was thrown forward and no lineman are downfield, should still be eligible for a pass right?
@@Brucev7 doesn't have to move an inch if there is an eligible receiver in the area. We see that all the time with screen plays that get blown up. QB is in the pocket and just dirts the ball right in front of him. So he could theoretically just thrown it in the dirt right behind Helm or Goldens feet. Not blaming Quinn since that happened so fast, just something to think about if it was to ever occur again.
Agree with the ball that was intercepted. No need for that when the run was finally working. I just have to wonder how many plays are changed at the line by Ewers. Is it Sark or Ewers? Some of what they do makes no sense.
2 things can be true at the same time. 1. Sark had a bad game plan, 2. Sark has been elite overall in play calling. We will be fine. AZ St isn't a weak team--motivation can go a long way--just ask Oregon
Unbelievable, Sark has changed this program for the better. Look at the last two coaches and tell me where you would rather be. Shit happens in games and they overcome that and won like champions. Kiss my ass, Sark is the man
As Babers has said since Y1 Sark is an “emotional play caller”. When he’s not big game/play hunting for explosive plays he’ll abandoned run or get so predictable.
I've finally found someone that's saying what I am seeing while watching the game. Instead of the fanboy podcasts that don't call it straight, but instead just pile on heaps of undeserved praise.
A key problem with Sark is he thinks like an OC, not head coach. Constantly has eyes on clip board thinking about how to out wit the opponent DC. No feel for game and momentum and making team decisions like a Head Coach. He gets rattled easily and I have seen him shouting at Quinn through headset - not smart.
@@0169randy thank you! We know this because with Charlie and Tom we were garbage. Sark is far from perfect but I’ve never found a coach that is. Bottom line is the past two years he had arguably been the most successful coach in the country
So, Sark hasn’t been great in big games. Who do you put in his place for what he brings to the table on total package, including recruitment? Flaws, yes. But can you remember the Longhorns Pre-Sark? I do.
Indeed. The running game was non existent in both losses vs Georgia and vs ASU. Blue did not have any carries in the first loss to Georgia and had only two carries in the second loss. It appears that Blue was in Sark’s dog house and was not utilized much vs the Aggies. Fortunately Wisner played his best game as a Longhorn that game. It seemed as if Sark got over it after the Clemson game but then vs ASU Blue had only four carries. RB J Blue should be getting more carries. Blue has proven he is capable of breaking a run for a TD any time he touches the ball. Manning should have also remained active and received playing time, just in case.
PK needs to adjust his bend dont break strategy when playing efficient offenses so they are not on the field for 80 plus snaps. Also, I have a feeling PK will take another job nexy year. I would be fed up with Sark as both OC and HC as well by now.
The O Line has to do better! How you get handled by ASU D line that is smaller? The play was pitiful! The Penalties are killing us! Every week. Bert’s kicking isn’t worth talking about. OSU will hang 40 on us if we keep this up! Why can’t we just have a team that plays to its standards? Hook Em!🏈🐂🤘
Sark also hurt Special Teams by 1) Not replacing ST ciach Joe DeCamillis 2) Choosing not to get a punter or gunner in portal 3) Ruining the sych of Bert Auburn my taking off made field goals by Bert so he vould go for it on 4th down. The MS game was a 50 yard made field goal for a missed 4th down conversion. 4) Relentless talking to Bert before kicks. Sark - Leave Bert ALONE!! It aint working! Bert was an All American kicker last year- Sark has ruined him.
I was saying the same thing his ego and stubornness may cost Texas a championship. He's not playing complimentary football with his defense they were gassed. The defense should not be on the field 90 to 100 snaps thats unacceptable. Running the football is the key to Texas success on offense.
FINALLY someone else said it. Texas has wayyyy to many 5 and 4 star players to be this inconsistent. In the Mac Brown Era, we would comeback in the second half, is the Snark era, we lose leads.
An injured 5 Star player doesn't play as a 5 star. We've had 60% of our OL injured lately, Banks, Majors, and Williams. Williams hasn't played and the others are playing well less than 100%. Williams is huge for our running attack. Do you think it coincidence that OSU center was injured and then they lost to Michigan (like we did to OU last year after our center was injured early in game)? Bond has also not been playing like he did early in the season before being injured. 100% Bond is very critical to the passing attack to give major threats on both sides of the field. With the injuries we've had, its a testament that we are the only one from last years playoffs that has returned to this years playoffs (and made the final 4). Injuries matter when playing high level competition. The loss of Cedric Baxter pre-season did really hurt us in short yardage and pass pro components. We've adapted, but your roster is not who your recruited, but who remains standing.
You didn't mention they should've gone for 2 when going up by 15 with 10 minutes left. Go up by 17 and you're up 3 possession. Miss it and you're still up 15 requiring 2 TD and 1 2 pt conversion. So, you trade off giving up slightly increased probability they can tie, for highly increased probability of winning, by forcing 3 scores. I agree completely with your rant on the interception play after we (for once) made 6 yards on first down. That was the time to gut out a running first down and run clock. Actually I agree with just about all your rants. There were some mitigating circumstances, which was they had the bye and got to work on trick plays, and we were getting beat up playing, but that didn't excuse poor game situational play calls.
Just stop it. Sark is the best thing that’s happened to Texas Football since Mack Brown. Shame on you for trying to turn people against him after he’s done so much to turn this program around.
I only have 3: 1. Monkey boy is bad at strategy, I mean there are times to got for blocked punts and times not to. The 3 and out at the start was a horrible time to try that. Gambler minset, (Dates pole dancers, has wild monkeies as pets) thats a mindset. He also was lazy on Kern as our punter. I would bag him. 2. The Shotgun from your own 2 was horrid. Makes me think Sark needs a separate OC. That was clearly a sign that he was overwelmed and no one on the staff has the permission to say 'Steve thats a bad call" Greg Davis did it all the time. There are field position overrides that should limit the play book. These former QB HC types don't respect the fact that the def wants 2 points!!! 3. The deep pass. NO . The bottom line is Sark needs to really consider stepping out of the OC position for his own good.
It is hard to remain "fundamental" when the opponents are attempting and converting DESPERATE fake punts that go against all laws of good coaching. Texas opponents have been getting so fking lucky with these low percentage plays!
Sark calls good plays..maybe if the receivers would catch the easy ones and the QB would complete a 5 yard pass and if the damn FG kicker would make a FG y’all wouldn’t be “next day QB’ing” Get a life buddy…
Sark is a terrible play caller and is bad at time management. His commitment to sewers and unwillingness to utilize Manning more is why Ut will get stomped by OSU. It will be over in the first half.
Even when we’re ahead , Texas rushes plays and don’t use time management. Don’t understand that about Sark.
Yea, only burning 16 seconds off the game clock with 3 downs to do so before the FG attempt was amazingly bad.
This take isn’t being said enough. Sark gets in his head too damn much with the fancy play calling.

Well I've been a Longhorns fan long enough to know what Sark does right. His results are way better than predecessors. He recruits better than any recent predecessors. Overall, I see your point but I like Sark.
What about Sark's play calljng in overtime?
I agree. For whatever reason there was some bad strategy and play calling in this particular game. Except for some penalties and the attempted blocked punt which
I would argue was the most disastrous play of game. Quinn Ewers did an incredible job of pulling this game out. The Defense played well but can’t leave them on the field for that long to get tired. Inspite of that Hookem.
This dude is on to something. I’ve said it since the Oklahoma game. Steve needs to give the play calling duties to Kyle flood.
Thanks for saying the truth 😮
Yes finally someone saying what a lot of people are thinking.
The benefit of hindsight always helps, no doubt. It just felt like an unnecessary risk
I'm glad that so many of the folks commenting here apparently have played or coached D-1 football.
WHEN YOU GET OUTCOACHED AND YOU STILL WIN, YOUR OK
But "OK" only lasts one more week when you're in the playoffs. When you get outcoached and DON'T win, then you go home.
Agree 100% with lack of clock consumption after the Sun Devil's tied it at 24.
If team play and coaching does not improve, the next game will be over by halftime.
How do you know Sark called that play?. Ewers might have changed it on who was covering Bond.
Uhhhh... Anyone remember what our team was like before Sark was here? Let him cook!
Great question. Good chance they would've called grounding since Wisner was on the ground, but who knows. I'm just glad it wasn't a TD.
if he was outside the tackles, ball in the playing field
@@Brucev7 doesn't have to move an inch if there is an eligible receiver in the area. We see that all the time with screen plays that get blown up. QB is in the pocket and just dirts the ball right in front of him. So he could theoretically just thrown it in the dirt right behind Helm or Goldens feet. Not blaming Quinn since that happened so fast, just something to think about if it was to ever occur again.
@@adamhill2380 in the EZ?
100% correct that 2nd down interception was mind boggling. They needed to run the ball.
Texas has no run game any decent team. They all shut it down with ease.
Agree with the ball that was intercepted. No need for that when the run was finally working. I just have to wonder how many plays are changed at the line by Ewers. Is it Sark or Ewers? Some of what they do makes no sense.
How much of those play calls is Sark calling it as seen vs Quinn making a choice to go deep with audibles?
He should be nominated for the most valuable player for Arizona.
I dont see why Blue can not get coached up for ball security. There are high-school coaches that know how to break that on a player.
2 things can be true at the same time. 1. Sark had a bad game plan, 2. Sark has been elite overall in play calling. We will be fine. AZ St isn't a weak team--motivation can go a long way--just ask Oregon
I totally agree. Sark needs to better for Texas to win it all. Probably wont happen this year but Im hopeful he will figure it out in the near future.
Unbelievable, Sark has changed this program for the better. Look at the last two coaches and tell me where you would rather be. Shit happens in games and they overcome that and won like champions. Kiss my ass, Sark is the man
I’m a huge Sark guy. He’s done wonders for this program. I haven’t forgotten the dark days. Just think he had a bad day. Everyone does
Everything you said is right on . When they were in the red zone i was looking for Arch. No where to be found.
Not using Gunner until the end of the game??? Why?
As Babers has said since Y1 Sark is an “emotional play caller”. When he’s not big game/play hunting for explosive plays he’ll abandoned run or get so predictable.
We need to run more big personnel 6 lineman and with both backs on the field
Dude why do we need to call these player out of their names? Calling someone an idiot is not cool my dude.
The game needs to be rurned over to the ARM CHAIR QUARTERBACKS.
Texas would be a 500 team without sark
Doesn't mean he doesn't need to be better for them to win it all.
Hook Em!🏈🐂🤘
Completely agree with everything in this video 🤘🏽
Sark also hurt Special Teams by 1) Not replacing ST ciach Joe DeCamillis 2) Choosing not to get a punter or gunner in portal 3) Ruining the sych of Bert Auburn my taking off made field goals by Bert so he vould go for it on 4th down. The MS game was a 50 yard made field goal for a missed 4th down conversion. 4) Relentless talking to Bert before kicks. Sark - Leave Bert ALONE!! It aint working! Bert was an All American kicker last year- Sark has ruined him.
they are not playing at Jerry world. they are playing at the Cotton bowl.
Sounds like the DC has to do better.
Great analysis. Agree on all counts.
I was saying the same thing his ego and stubornness may cost Texas a championship. He's not playing complimentary football with his defense they were gassed. The defense should not be on the field 90 to 100 snaps thats unacceptable. Running the football is the key to Texas success on offense.
Curious.... what is a vid-geo?
He's the best coach since Mack Brown!
How come you’re not a coach at a college university? He seem to know everything.
EWERS PROBABLY ISN'T GOING TO CUT IT, ARCH WITHOUT ALL EWERS "EXPERIENCE " IS A MUCH BETTER QUARTERBACK!!!
AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THANKS SO!!
No Worries the Refs saved Them a few times.
Great job BK
Much love
Dude we're 1 game away..
🤣In the Mack Brown era, those 5 stars were consistently getting beat by OU, and we had way too many Holiday bowls.
Good point. Was a little surprised they didn’t try it
Longhorns need to play 4 quarters.
In Sark I trust.
Just stop it. Sark is the best thing that’s happened to Texas Football since Mack Brown. Shame on you for trying to turn people against him after he’s done so much to turn this program around.
I said he had a bad game. Every coach does. No one should be turning against him
I only have 3:
WTF were in the Shotgun from our own 2 yd line.??
😂😂😂😂😂Look at all the coach experts in here.😂😂😂😂😂
It is hard to remain "fundamental" when the opponents are attempting and converting DESPERATE fake punts that go against all laws of good coaching. Texas opponents have been getting so fking lucky with these low percentage plays!
Texas has been fooled on 4th downs that’s something that need fixing
I started writing a rebuttal, then realized you are saying all of this to just to get a lot of comments to make more money from TH-cam.
A lot of plays are slow developing.
I thought it was just me…
Brad, I won't bore you with what the Buckeyes are going to do to Sarkisian's Longhorns.
Way too many open receivers were missed !
I have said all along get rid of Texas head coach and starting quarterback
