For some reason I always love watching videos with parents or grandparents cooking and sharing their wisdom. I love this video so much. Please do more videos with your grandparents. They both are so precious. Some of us don't have our grandparents living anymore or don't have the same kind of relationship so it's refreshing watching a video like this...❤️❤️❤️
I'm Brazilian, but I live in Washington, DC. My grandparents are also Portuguese. When I was pregnant with my first kid, I only had one craving: caldo verde. Watching this video made me miss my grandma! She even cuts onions and collard greens do way yours does!!! So many memories!!!
My mom passed away 9 months ago and she never got the chance to show me this recipe I was going trough her stuff and found the blender and thought I would try to make it Im so glad I found your channel it was nice to see the Portuguese Im gonna gave to binge watch
gramma and grampa are adorable. its so cute how he took a picture of the filming process. he reminds me of my dad. wanting to take pictures of everything
Your avo and avoa are adorable. Love how you incorporated them into your video. Being Portuguese myself this warmed my heart especially when your grandma was teasing your Portuguese lol. Adorable❤️ and your grandpa taking photos was super cute!!
This is the real deal! It's how it's done. Notice that it was just a bunch of proper fresh ingredients you could pick directly from the garden. No canned stuff, no store bought stock, just great simple food. Your vovó is just like anyones grandma in Portugal! This is exactly how it is to visit the grandparents, the atmosphere, the humble kitchen knife, the simple technique. Thank you so much for posting this and not rejecting your roots. Which region are your grandparents from if I may ask?
I'm so happy to see our portuguese food all over the world because even if we are a small country we have really tasty food... You have a lovely family, congratulations. Love from Portugal
This is the soup I was looking for. Someone made it for me long time ago to taste, with the very fine chopped greens and I remember the greens wasn't cooked just a few minutes in the hot soup. I'm gonna cook it tomorrow! The Family is really sweet! Thank You!
I showed the video to my grandmother (who is portuguese also), she found the caldo verde a bit watery, but she loved the traditional way your grandmother cuts the onion and the vegetable, she said she could never cut it like that in her hand. We loved the video! Kisses from Brazil!
Watching you and your vavo takes me back in memories watching and learning to cook with my vavo. Now she passed I keep her traditional recipes close to my heart and make them for my family. Enjoy and thank you for sharing💖
I've been following you for months. It's nice to see that you embrace your Portuguese background so well, although you don't talk Portuguese. I''m from Portugal, and it's very nice to see people loving our traditional food. Also, Love the part where you say "é quente" ahahah. Congrats on the video :)
After watching this I went and found my grandmothers recipe for green soup. Guess I will have to make some now. All my relatives from my moms side are from the Azores....Santa Maria. How I miss all the food from there.
Being Portuguese but living abroad this really warmed my heart :') loved your grandparents. They are just so "castiços" :) I'm craving some Caldo Verde now.
made this soup today and it is delicious. Now I am looking at how to make stone soup. Had it in Lisbon in 2019 and loved it. Had to have it twice before we left for Porto then back to Toronto. My husband said it tastes like what his mom used to make - brought back memories.
I love this so much! I'm half Portuguese and my great grandparents lived in California, I'm in Missouri, so I didn't get a lot if the traditional recipes. My Grandma didn't know many either.
😂 Adoro! Your grandma is so lovely, she reminds me of my Avó. I’ll be cooking Caldo Verde this weekend so I’ll make sure to use your Vóvó’s technique when cutting the vegetables.
It doesn't get better than this look at her skills I did not know you were Portuguese💕your grandparents are so adorable ~ & the soup looked delicious 😋 can't wait for the next recipe💕💖💕
Your grandparents are so cute. Love how you are sharing a traditional family dish. It looks so simple to make too. Though I feel I need to work on my knife skills.
Thank you for sharing! I love videos like this! It’s so beautiful to continue family traditions. Food is life! Making this for my hubby now! (He went to elementary school in Portugal)
I had caldo verde EVERY SINGLE DAY for lunch when I went to Portugal🇵🇹! Also, fresh caught grilled sardines on the side! Pretty sure the place I went to used kale but they taste the same.. it was right across from our apartment in Espinho! Tudobem!
Great video! So cosy and warm, also I like the way your geanny tease you)) And the way she chops the veggies is just amazing , I wish I could do that too!

100% Portuguese.!! Moms getting older so My sister guilted me into making it for Christmas today. Lol. Where was that Portuguese angel who hosted the clip when I was young??!!! Great video, laughed all the way thru, reminds me of my mom or vo. Lol
This soup is very traditional in Brazil as well. I never knew it was actually Portuguese. So cool to see all those cultural references Portugal brought to us when they colonised Brazil. Thanks for sharing. Your grandma (ou avó) is a cutie :)
My God your grandparents are adoreable :D. Typical Grandparents how you grandfather walked in to take a photo :D. I know this behaviour well, but love it :D. Loved the Video and the Recipe! Would love to see more traditional food.
Love it, I live in London (UK) but from Madeira and literally introduced Caldo Verde to of my partners family and they love it! Although I like my soup a bit thick and in a lot of videos is quite watery. Sometimes I even add carrots cause why not and spicy chorizo because why not haha still is the best soup!
I had my first caldo verde in Portugal and I’ve been looking for a recipe that looks like the one I had ...this is it ! ..the shredded collard greens, though they told me its made with special Portuguese cabbage. I’m gonna try this !! :) Obrigada !!
I so enjoyed this video & recipe for Caldo Verde💚. Your grandma is precious and I love the resemblance between the 2 of you! I speak fluent Spanish and understand Portuguese quite well. I really enjoyed the interactions between all of you. So much love and value of family! Grandma's techniques are on fleek, and where might I find the Portuguese chorizo? I'm hanging onto this recipe for sure👍.
This is my favorite soup I’m so happy this video is on the internet literally exactly how my mommy makes it and can’t wait to recreate it at my house😭❤️ THANK YOU
So cute this video! Not being disrespectful to your avó recipe , in the north, we make the base of the caldo verde with less water, to be more creamy and less runny, and the kale (couves) are cooked on another pan, and then mixed with the base then served. That way it isn't such a strong bitter couves flavour and it keeps better on the fridge to the next day ;)
Hahahaaaaa love it when your grandfather walked right in the centre with his camera😂
This was adorable!
Aiiiiii adoro caldo verde!!!
