How Sven picked him in his 2006 world cup squad over Defoe or Bent (the top English scorer in the PL that season) is beyond me. And it backfired, cause Owen and Rooney weren't 100% heading into the tournament anyway, and Owen did his ACL against Sweden, Rooney was sent off against Portugal, so Crouch and Walcott were the only strikers we had

Walcott had the potential to be as good as Ronaldo or Messi, dare I say...he was that good. Great shame he couldn't fulfill that potential as everyone expected him to including Aresene Wenger who brought him to Arsenal when he was 16.
@bocjagne2878 Is that the basis of a player having the potential to be as good as Lionel Messi? Scoring a hattrick for England? So Peter Crouch could have been as good as Messi then? And Harry Kane has scored five hattricks for England, so he could be like a Super Messi? 🤔
