I've seen the other comments by those less enlightened folks. It's a pity that they never take into account exactly WHEN your grandfather made the purchase. It's quite possible that he could have picked up a real issue of Amazing Fantasy 15 for $200, depending on when the purchase was made. I hope so, because it would nice to see someone receive a gift that appreciated so much in value through the years.
This is all relevant, but you did forget Marvel comics #1 😮 and as far as pricing, it all depends on condition 🤔 prices change week to week. I did enjoy this short very much, but the Only comic ahead of detective comics # 27, first appearance of Batman, is Action comics # 1 😊
A friend of mine owns a comic book store he sold me web of Spider-Man #1 Secret Wars #8 the amazing Spider-Man #252 #298 #299 #300 #316 Venom Lethal Protector #1 The incredible Hulk Hulk #180
Can someone explain to me as to why these are so expensive? I’m not judging, genuinely interested in how the market works and what drives these to fluctuate.
Sometimes it’s those rich collectors wanting to make bang by reselling it on another high next decades. At this much high level comic enthusiasm is not much a factor as comics are meant to be read so this is more of a piece of history as per the trend
Say having ww2 rifle isn’t worth but the memorabilia of a ww2 participating country’s president is worth so this is how they work by saying what is worth or not based on its historical or contemporary value alongside its rarity . Not much of what it’s made of
Because they're 50+ year old books that are first appearances of the most popular characters, which are still relevant and widely loved today. I'm not rich, but I would spend $10,000 on an Amazing Fantasy 15 in a heartbeat if I had the money to spare. Now consider comics are old, you have fully grown adults knee deep in their careers that love this stuff more than I do and are willing to throw some serious money down to own the first appearance of a character they've loved for like 40 years. They're pieces of history
Well these are the first appearances and origin of some of the most famous superheroes in the world. Another factor is also that the demand is high while the print number for all of these were low and factoring in the over 80 years that has gone since they came out has led to very few good examples that are still in exsistence. For an example Detective comics 27 the first appearance of Batman from 1939 only has around 75 copies which has been confirmed to have been graded and the real number of how many which are out there are probably something between 100 and 150 maybe.
I haven't heard anything about that but I do know Amazing Fantasy 15 did beat the record for action comics 1 a few years back for 3 million+ I also know Marvel comics 1 and Fantastic Four 1 sold for a million I think last year or two years ago
Crazy. Even the reprints are worth alot of money.

Obviously every comics actual value is still 3.99 or smth this list just shows a bunch of comics auctioned off at these prices
Yeah that is off a little cause Superman#1 sold for around $6,000000 and still has the record,I believe.
The only ones making money are the "grading companies."
Yeah I got a feeling these are falling off like one day they might be worth as much as nft’s
The prices are wrong
Time to get my checkbook out
Thought purple labels were repair or replacement
Not a lot of people have the interest or the money to buy such an investment
