    2022 Himalayan North America....non California emissions...10 months owned 9000 miles.... 14484 km..... No signs of exhaust defects.... Minimum 1/2 inch clearance from swing arm..... Rear axle nut would have to move up 4 inches to touch the exhaust..... I do mostly forest roads off pavement..... Nothing real extreme so that sounds like a possibility...... Good video... thanks

    Mark ,you eliminated a design flaw in the stock exhaust. I think the Lextek looks great on the black bike.

    Great video Mark. I was really looking forward to seeing the exhaust mod after watching an NZ guy fit the same muffler. He gave the same impression on results as well. I’ve already fitted the DNA filter to my Himmy and like what its done for performance. Polish, not so much performance I should say. Your reaction to the bike is the same as mine. I can’t explain clearly what it is about it that makes me grin all the time but it does make me grin. I sold a much better performing bike to buy it but I have absolutely no regrets. It’s just a lot of fun. I love that I can do all the work on it myself, I love that I can take it out on the racetrack and have a ball on it (yes, I’ve done it twice now and it’s a really fun bike which handles brilliantly regardless of top end speed.).. and I love that it’s the Suzuki Jiminy of off road bikes. It goes where it shouldn’t and does things it shouldn’t without complaint. The vibration noise from the from is the same on mine (same MY and model) and I’ve recently had the lens cover for the small LED light inside the headlight shatter. I suspect that that was the vibration noise, contact between the lens and headlight casing, and I have a warranty claim in. There’s a Scottish You Tuber (and other bloggers) who’s had similar issue and from memory he’s come up with a resolution but I wouldn’t bank on my memory being correct. I’ll be checking my stock exhaust out first thing tomorrow morning and hope it doesn’t have the same fitting issues and damage you’ve found. I’m looking forward to future mods to see just how much the overall utility of the Himmy changes. Thanks for all your efforts!!!

    The vibration is from the headlamp rim
    Pack it out with a piece of rubber at the top of headlamp

    Try it with the stock filter cover. For me it the only difference the DNA cover made was to reduce the range absolutely no difference to performance and it it lowers the air intake by about an inch before you start to suck in water from that river crossing.

    Fitting a high flow filter and exhaust drops h.p. and torque on these bikes unless you use a booster plug or power commanderAll dyno tests prove this.If you try to ride rhe bike hard with just high flow exhaust and air filter it will burn up from being extremely lean.A power vcommander or booster plug helps only so much unless you add a cam then it all works and you get 5 ponies and 5 ft lbs.A good chunk and better personality.But the best option is to put Hitchcocks carb kit on the bike.Avoiding the inevitable fight with the efi ,fuel pump ,injector,and sensors that happen with all efi bikes after a few years.The bike will run much cooler with the carb conversion.

    I had a stage 2 DNA filter kit on an XT660x and made a good difference, worth it just for the sound alone even on stock pipes. Also ordered the 'kevmod' from an Aussie funnily enough, helped smooth the throttle out

  • @Chris_Z.
    @Chris_Z. ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With the exhaust sitting higher? You're going to need some exhaust heat shields to protect the givi rackless system . It could possibly burn through the new bags without them. The new air filter and exhaust allowing more airflow will it be running too lean? After doing some more K's on the bike take the plug out and compare with a spark plug colour chart online. This will give you a rough idea how the bike fuel / air mixture is.

    MARK... I HAVE A 21 HIMMY AND I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY WEAR MARKS ON THE FACTORY EXHAUST/BIKE FRAME- NOTHING! I CHANGED MY 30 POUND STONE FACTORY EXHAUST TO A KEMIMOTO SLIP ON EXHAUST FROM AMAZON FOR 38 AMERICAN DOLLARS. NOW IT SOUND LIKE A BIKE SHOULD, IS MUCH LIGHTER AND DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A WASHING MACHINE!! AS FOR THE AIR FILTER - THE PRICING OF THOSE TWO AIR FILTER MODS ARE OUT OF BOUNDS!! I AM GOING TO CUT THE FACTORY PLASTIC AIR COVER OFF- EXPOSING THE FILTER- MAYBE ADD ON A SCREEN AND SEE WHAT DEVELOPS... AS FOR THE BIKE STALLING- REPLACE THE TWO FI RELAYS, ALSO.. PUT IN AN IRIDIUM PLUG.. AND HOPE FOR THE BEST!!! ROAD RUNNER IN CO. USA

    As others have said - check the front light ring for the vibration. A bit of tape (as per the Scottish TH-camr video) fixes. Also, I put the DNA filter on mine a year ago and of all the mods I’ve done on my Himmy I tell any prospect Himmy owner that is the one to do as a priority. Makes a huge (its all relative as you say) difference to performance. A good 4 or 5 mph more to the top speed. Will now look at getting more air out - thanks for the video.

    Good video love the content,but you don't actually look into fitting things before the video.
    You are supposed to let the engine idle until warm for the engines ECU to relearn its new parameters when replacing air filters and exhaust. Otherwise you won't get their full potential and can make the engine management light come on.

    Mark,
    I just checked my 2021 Himi and the gap between the stock muffler plane and the swing arm appears about 25 to 30 mm. She has about 11,000 kilometres on her now, with plenty of gravel roads around Lightening Ridge and Carnarvon Gorge.
    Either something’s bent your muffler into the frame, or the latest models have less clearance. I’m thinking yours has hit something and bent a bracket in??

    Hi Mark, just fell over your video, great. Will carry on watching. Question, did you replaced the sprocket with a 16 teeth part ? Muffler replacement is not a simple thing if you live in Switzerland, any change on the bike has to fall within the regulations of the licensing authoroties. That air filter cover mod does nothing because the bikes cam doesnt have the lift or duration to need it.Also that cover keeps rain and dirt out if the filter many have ruined their engines at water fords because of that mod which produced no gain to begin with.Might as well paint it red to make it faster.

      Very simple procedure... I'll do a video on it shortly! Basically you hold down the hydraulic pedal that you use to pump it up with while using the air compressor to pump it up. When it starts to work you slowly release the pedal and Bing bang boom it works again! 😀👍

    • @MichaelWhite-cx4ho
      @MichaelWhite-cx4ho ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you foe the observation. I believe the air intake is at the same level, so submerging the bike up to that level would be the same for the OE and the D NA setups, I would think. Flying down the motorway, I think the OE setup might be superior as the intake shield is pointed toward the rear of bike hopefully aiding in preventing water intake. It must be that the bike design and side panel prevent the DNA setup from ingesting air as I've never heard a complaint about them despite many, many in use. The oiled DNA filter, IMO, would be a dust magnet, the idea, versus the paper. However, paper can be cleaned trailside by pulling and banging against the palm of your hand. Regardless, most everyone says the DNA setup leads to more "polished" performance. I like the ease of paper, and my Himi runs fine, so I'm sticking with paper, for now, especially since it's been too easy to throw hundreds of extras into this "inexpensive" bike! I am interested in hearing the thoughts of others on the DNA versus stock air filters! Thanks!
