  • In this video, Grammar Hero presents a computer-adaptive word knowledge practice test. These question should closely mirror what you should expect to see in the Word Knowledge (WK) subtest of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) as well as the Pre-screening internet-delivered Computer Adaptive Test (PiCAT).

Hey guys I took my asvab yesterday and scored in the 93 percentile thanks to these videos and some experience I had from a job working HVAC this guy puts out the right videos for you to succeed if I took it seriously and really dug into every video I would've gotten a 99 probably

Congrats on the score, and I wish you the best if you join the military! If you plan to join the Navy and they offer you the NUKE program, take it. After the Navy, you'll be making six figures working at a nuclear power plant!

@GrammarHero tbh I want an admin position bad I went to airforce because I don't want to be drowned in BMT or tortured as much as army and marines I want a very basic job that allows me to establish a foundation for myself and start a family with my gf of 6 years I'm terrified of doing anything relating to nukes I don't want a Shelp job. My mindset going in is better to be bored than broken

@NadeemHabibi-cr6jt there are multiple ways to get to an answer. You don't have to get the exact answer. You can use a ton of inference to get close enough to the correct answer.
I rarely got the exact answer they gave me on the test because I didn't use the exact formula they wanted me to use but I was able to use the basics to lead me to the correct answer. As long as you can fundamentally understand what they're asking, you can apply any applicable formula that you're comfortable with to get to an answer close enough to what the actual answer is. I want to say I got the exact answer on math questions about 20-25% of the time. I think I used the formula they wanted me to use maybe 10% of the time, but because I had multiple answers to pick from I could almost always eliminate half with basic knowledge. For example if you're asked
      12.5×0.9
      A) 6.1
      B)10.98
      C) 11.25
      D)13.5
You immediately know A and D can't be possible because half of 12 is 6 and 0.9>0.5 and multiplying by 0.9 can never be a number bigger than 1x12.5 because 1>0.9
There are multiple ways to solve for this so you can either
      11.25
      ×0.9
      OR
If you like addition and subtraction and don't like multiplying decimals and know how percentages work
      0.9= %90
10% of any number is just moving the decimal over in this example
      10% of 12.5=1.25
      ^ ^
      100%-10%=90%
      12.5
      - 1.25
Hope this helps hard to explain it in a comment but being able to figure things out multiple ways helps a lot. Next time your given a math problem on this channel see if you can figure out a second way to get if not the correct answer or an answer that eliminates all other possible outcomes and see if you're correct. That would be my best advice. Learn the fundamentals and think of unique ways to apply them universally to solve questions that have multiple ways to get a correct guesstimate if you cannot find the correct formula good luck.

I left school at grade 3. I never had much of an education after that, I barely know how to solve for unknowns in equations and my vocabulary is broken, most of the stuff i've learned is just from scrolling youtube.
Should i still focus on doing this with the help of khan academy (to help with learning new subjects) instead of getting a tutor?
I basically need to learn everything school teaches, preferably as fast as i can.

Khan academy, march2success. If you already have a high school degree equ.. then you're good. If you don't, focus more on that and then get to the ASVAB studying parts. Tutors are a big help so find some in your local area, some may be free, some may not.

@@tokyobby1699 Guess. You don't get penalized for guessing. Remember: it's a computer-adaptive test, so you want to take your time and get the first 8 or so questions 100% right in a row. After that, guessing is a good option, but only if you really can't figure a question out.
