For Number 9. I use the answer key to figure out my answer by reading "3 inches more than its width" So I did 8+8= 16 then 38 - 16 = 22 so notice that it basically meant 8+8 Width and length 11+11. Would this be a "valid" tactic come test or is it better to re-look at the perimeter of a quadrilateral"

@@rodrigosalas2371 Reading comprehension is a skill that is built up over a period of months and years, not over weeks and days. Unless they kicked your test date back by several months, I would just do the best that you can on that subtest of the ASVAB. If a tutor promises to help you boost your score in a week or two, they are probably trying to rip you off.
For the prime numbers, is 2,3,and 5 the only divisibilty numbers to use to divide the answer to see if it is divisible by those numbers other than one and itself. Pretty much I'm asking do I need to check with 7 and 9 or is checking with 2,3 and 5 good enough to find if it is a prime number
-2 + 5 is positive three. The solution shown in the video is the correct one. -2 + 5 is the same as 5 - 2, which is positive three. I have a video on adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers here: th-cam.com/video/cm5YAvxqnwo/w-d-xo.html Like the real ASVAB, my quizzes include some answer choices that are very close to the correct one to really see if people understand how to do every step, including how to add and subtract integers.

For that problem, you were given the perimeter of a rectangle and told its length is 3 inches more than its width. In order to find its width, you have to use the perimeter formula as I showed you in the video to represent those unknown values and ultimately find the width. How else would you do it?
There's no need to apologize! For rectangles, you only need to know two formulas: perimeter and area. That said, some of the questions will require you to use some basic algebra and one of those formulas to solve a word problem. Did you watch how I set the problem up and solved it?
If you keep practicing, you'll eventually get it. In just about every one of my practice tests, I work out a problem like this one. I would move on for now, and once you clear your mind, come back and give it another go!
I recently took a practice test in my recruiters office and fuckin killed it. Got like a 70 something and he’s telling me about how I don’t need to stress on the asvab because I can do worse and still do good and how I’m guaranteed to pass but what he don’t know is that I guessed on nearly every math question and a couple in the English portion. There wasn’t that many questions, I guessed on about half of that whole test. I just got lucky. Now I just need to learn this shit for real because I very rarely get lucky, and I never get lucky twice
-2x + 5x = 3x, not -3x. Plug the question into this calculator to check the work: www.mathpapa.com/algebra-calculator.html I use that calculator to quickly check all of my work before I upload my videos.

You have to keep practicing. I couldn't remember it during HS but when I took the time to do multiple practice tests it got implemented in my head
so from question 5, anytime there is a from we have to multiply the sign of what we are doing (adding & subtracing)
I go in tomorrow for the actual thing, I took the practice a few times and got a 31, then a 41, this helped me a lot. Thank youu
Good luck, you're welcome, and let me know how it goes!
@@GrammarHero thank you, will do!
@@GrammarHero Alright so they pushed it to today and I just got home. I got a 73 and I am amazed. Never expected that in my LIFE. I appreciate this so much man. Thank you.
@@nathanaelil5203 Congrats on the score, and I wish you the best if you join the military!
@@GrammarHero I wish your career well, this is good what you are doing. I hope you enjoy it, no good doing it if you don't enjoy what you are doing. I plan on continuing enlistment, Army, a technical position maybe. Have a good one man.
Thank you really helped me review my basic mathematics.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much for everything!!
You are welcome!
Where did you get the negative 1 for question 14. At the beginning of solving the problem
I factored it out.
In my playlist called Algebra on the ASVAB, I have five videos about different factoring techniques you may want to consider learning: th-cam.com/play/PLhlU-GzAQeG32uoM-Brd8JueNwDHZWz-o.html
I take my practice test today !
Good luck!
how did you do
Dam I got hit with a 50lb of stupid dust! Thank you for re-teaching me some of the basics, & choosing the best option if I have no clues, I want more from you.
If you practice enough, this will become very, very easy!
Man I love u like I want to be like u one day ur a life saver
why didnt i get this in highschool man i love this video
On my channel, there are many more like it. Before you know it, you'll be an expert at this stuff.
Using answer choices is a good strategy to quickly solve difficult problems on the test!
a television show is 30 minutes long. during the show there are four 1-1/4 minute commercials. approximately what percentage of the show is commercial? can you please answer this
(4 x 1 and 1/4) = 5 minutes. 5/30 = 1/6 = 1 divided by six (long division) = .166666666 (the six repeats) = 16.67% or 16 2/3%.
Taking my ASVAB tomorrow. How can I improve on paragraph comprehension.
Honestly, you can't do much to improve that score in just a day. Good luck tomorrow!
@@GrammarHero they change my date so I have time.
@@GrammarHero Thank you.
Usually, 2, 3, or 5 will get you the answer. It doesn't hurt to know 7 and 9, though.
Hi there I am having trouble understanding how you add and subtract the negative numbers on question 5. 😭
Which video can I watch to help me better understand that?
In the description of the video, there is a link to my video on adding and subtracting polynomials. Here: th-cam.com/video/IUMBJEexI7o/w-d-xo.html
On number 5 wouldn’t it be B because combining like terms -2 + 5 wouldn’t it be a negative? So negative 3 ?
-2 + 5 is positive three. The solution shown in the video is the correct one.
-2 + 5 is the same as 5 - 2, which is positive three.
I have a video on adding and subtracting positive and negative numbers here: th-cam.com/video/cm5YAvxqnwo/w-d-xo.html
Like the real ASVAB, my quizzes include some answer choices that are very close to the correct one to really see if people understand how to do every step, including how to add and subtract integers.
great video
How did you know to divide 20 by 5 in the Celsius question
It's called cross reducing. Here is a video: th-cam.com/video/2pEqgSbZSW0/w-d-xo.html

Hey On #9 if we’re looking for the width, why was the perimeter formula used?
For that problem, you were given the perimeter of a rectangle and told its length is 3 inches more than its width. In order to find its width, you have to use the perimeter formula as I showed you in the video to represent those unknown values and ultimately find the width. How else would you do it?
@@GrammarHero I thought using the width formula. I’ve never been good at math lol sorry.
There's no need to apologize! For rectangles, you only need to know two formulas: perimeter and area. That said, some of the questions will require you to use some basic algebra and one of those formulas to solve a word problem. Did you watch how I set the problem up and solved it?
@@GrammarHero yes I did. I think I’m just overthinking or really just not understanding lol. However, I did see how you got the answer.
If you keep practicing, you'll eventually get it. In just about every one of my practice tests, I work out a problem like this one. I would move on for now, and once you clear your mind, come back and give it another go!
I only missed 20 questions is that good or bad
Can you make a video about general science, I really need help with that
Here is a great free study guide for General Science: uniontestprep.com/asvab/study-guide/general-science/pages/1
Good luck! If you got into the 70s on the practice test, you should be fine.
@@GrammarHero Thanks man. I did good and will be leaving on the 14th for 91 B. Which wasn’t hard for me to get but this video still helped

are this question gonna be in the asvab?( im gonna enter in the us army btw)

isn't number 5 meant to be 11x sqaure -- 3x --10/.
-2x + 5x = 3x, not -3x. Plug the question into this calculator to check the work: www.mathpapa.com/algebra-calculator.html
