I dont know which i like better, the body of the vid with it’s humor, awesome editing, perfect pacing - or the bonus clips and the commentary. I guess i wont have to decide as they are both in the same video! Keep up the awesome work! I too am a Shimano shoe fan because of the fit more than the “cooool” factor.

Recently, after long years on Sidis and few weeks on Fizik (not my type) bought Vittoria Legend leather shoes. These are the most comfortable shoes I ever put my feets on! They simply hug you. Probably not the best for sprinting, but for long days on saddle they are the best I’ve tried.

If you ever fancied a break from consooming new product, there's a lot of tutorials for DIY weightweenie shoes - from adding cleats and a carbon sole to football boots, to making a full shoe out of carbon. All of them are lighter than any stock product and arguably better in many ways.

I'm more of a mountainbiker, but quite enjoy your videos. That said, I tried clipless pedals today for the first time. I think I'm keeping my flat pedals. (yes, I fall down four times, not beeing able to unclip in time)
Maybe riding in snowy conditions also wasn't the best idea...

    • @Ropetable
      @Ropetable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

i rode clipless for a while, there are usually 2 versions of cleats, the one exit and multi exit models. the multi exit cleats allowed me to automatically unclip when i "panik" while falling down. i use both flats and clipless now, for any serious mountainbiking i will not use clips again. It does feel amazing though being able to controll your bike fully.

That would work for me, the RX8 in a 45 E did not fit me, while I have been using rp3 in 45 E for a while. I think it was the closure system difference, 3 velcro vs boa. RX8 wasn't wide enough in the pinky toe for me. But I have Lake MX237 now, so other than heavy and being not white, I am set for a while.

I just got the Northwave Mistral Plus in a 45. Usually im a 45, I confirmed that with my wrong purchase of a set of shimano MTB shoes in 44.
So I had high hopes for the NW shoes, how wrong I was. They where WAY to big. I even went to the shop and tried some NW in 44 and could not fit me.
So I ended up buying a set of Shimano RC7 and they fit perfectly.
I then noticed on the 2 boxes. The NW in size 45 is a US size 12 but the Shimano size 45 is only a US size 10.5. Thats pretty strange.

    • @ridesofjapan

Hi Tobias. I recently had an accident where my roadie jumped off a few rumblers and we both lost balance and fell. A wound opened near the knee joint where it meets the shin and has been stitched up. I intend to get back on the cycle as soon as I heal. Would you recommend some safety gear for the joints? I'm using a helmet and gloves, but i don't know what gear to invest in for the joints. The regular knee pads and elbow pads don't seem like they're designed to take consistent long distance pedalling without losing their elasticity.
    Thanks and cheers from India.

No question. After years on top shelf Sidi’s, highly regarded for their energy to pedal enhancing stiffness, and gorgeous carbon soles, but oh so slick surface for quick pedal engagements. These Shimano S-Phyres with the Michelin rubber mid-soles are absolutely sublime. No fear of sliding off pedals in slick conditions. I have two pairs. A blue and silver. Your beauties are, as you say the newest generation, and are def on my radar once available here in the US. BTW, walking more easily in the coffee shops, etc is paramount, so these shoes work for all occasions. Whether it be on brisk group rides or roads less traveled. Love them. Just want to let you know that the BOA lacing on the bottom section is not done correctly in either pair of 902s-it should twist and double back over the toe box.

Not correctly, It's just another way to do it if you want it tighter (That I don't)

How do you find the second boa on the 902? Is there noticeably more secure foot retention than the gravel version?

such nice roads, until the near head-on... Is it a road closed to cars?

Nope, that "pass" is open to motorists as well. Usually these roads in the area have copious amounts of mirrors to see what's ahead, but this particular one may not. I only climb it, and descend somewhere else, so don't quote me on that though.

Wow, these shoes are expensive! My Shimano xm900 MTB boots were less than half the price. Roadie/Gravel pricing is crazy.

Not they don't (yet at least. Tool me a few months for the RX8 to squeek)
