Fascinating how Peach tried to howl like the wolf. Of course I’ll never know but I wonder what she was thinking or what instinctively caused her to do that. I’m still amazed at how well behaved she is. She’s a very cool friend for you. And thanks for posting the update. It’s nice knowing all is good in your corner of the world.
Oh Peach howling so cute . Kinda freaky to have the wolves so close around Peach. Thanks for keeping us up to date with whats been going on always good to hear from you. London, Ontario, Canada take care Amanda & Peach.
i was a bit shocked when peach started howling - haha! i read online that wolves howl to each other so they can pinpoint their locations, but domestic dogs will howl to tell the wolf to stay away as this is her territory. not sure what peach was doing :)
I'm a land surveyor who gets to work on the discovery islands and sometimes you'll show up to a small island with a few people and the first thing they say is watch out the wolves are here this week, One thing to note however is that the coastal wolves are much more docile than other wolf populations in North America
Hello Amanda and Peaches, lovely video you have here. The day was been busy here. Doing this and doing that. Wolves are very cunning, they they will howl and then sit outside looking less like they care. Then, the wolf will be playfull;until the dog joins Then it is theirs
❤as always, beautiful photography. That was so cute seeing and hearing Peach howl. Scary seeing that wolf so close. Thanks for the video, love to you and Peach
My sister and brother in law used to be the caretakers of one of the northern gulf islands and my oldest son was hired to help with maintenance. He stayed about a mile away in the workshop and was awakened at night by the wolves under his window, who swam there almost daily chasing deer. I went for a visit and while going across the passage, spotted what I thought were two deer swimming to the island so we drove closer. Turned out it was two wolves. Very strong swimmers and a most amazing sight. It is part of living on this coast as you are well aware. Hopefully they are just doing their circut and Peach is learning to be aware😊
I hope the wolves aren't a problem this winter . I love when people answer questions , I will never tire of that . I do get peace watching your channel . Thank you ❤
haha. yah it was so cute. i couldn't tell if it stressed her out or if she was really feeling it. when she started howling again while i was editing i set up my camera quickly and then after that i put it on mute everytime i went over that part :)
You’re voice is very calming and I find you’re sense of humour is quite refreshing. Keep up the great work Amanda. I live on Vancouver Island and it’s truly a beautiful place and so blessed to live here.
I was so fascinated with your wolf story Love the sounds of the breaching Peach was singing grandly!🐶 I need/want a fur baby I’ve been busy also! I never take this long to watch your videos (3 days) I liked it and then life happened😂 No matter I’m so happy to be caught up I have no idea what some of those boating terms were?😮 I’ll learn from you ✌🏾my friend and stay safe you and Peach Blessings for the island🙏🏾📱
Glad you enjoyed it!! She was singing - hahaha!!! I couldn't tell if she was stressed or having the time of her life :)! Thank you so much for watching 🧡🧡
Happy to see you and peace are doing well! And we don’t get tired of you answering questions! Hope you and peach have a fabulous week and the wolves and bears stay away!
Thanks for the update. What a dreamscape. Wolves don't like noise and light, maybe investing in a strong flood torch and some rubber bullets could deter them if they get too close too often. Take care !
It's usually a matter of territorial defence with wolves and dogs, not predation. Wolves generally avoid humans but feel competition for resources with dogs.
I love the sound of the wolves ! ❤Awesome job with great views where you are 👍My ginger will sit & howl back at coyotes to but she sounds like a wolf so the coyotes shut up right away :)
haha!! i read that only a small percentage of dogs howl back, so that's pretty cool. this morning Peach and I have already heard howling 3 separate times. crazy!
@@AmandaOffGrid Yes that is right ! If you have seen my Ginger in my camping video's , look at the markings on her shoulders very clear :) So howling is in her blood lol,
Hi Amanda, I think peach will protect you as well as you protect her. It's funny to watch them howl at each other. So glad you put a video out. I do like knowing you snd peach are well.
Hi so glad yourself and peach is safe ! That wolf was so close . I wonder what humane scare tactics. Would scare the wolves away so they are less likely to return . Need a wolf expert please 😊!! The nature is just beautiful. Those whales amazing , wolves also ! Thank your for sharing 😊
This is really too close for comfort. I hope the property owners can help figure out a resolution. Being there all winter with that wolf doesn’t sound like fun.
hi :). i am not a knitter (although i wish i was). i crochet. mostly sweaters and winter hats for people. i've tried knitting, but to be honest i have never had the correct needles, yarn etc. so i just got frustrated. one day i'll get the right stuff and teach myself to knit! thank you for watching!
@@AmandaOffGrid Oh, my mistake! I remember seeing a video where you talked about the hats you've made, so I thought it was knitting. I wish I could crochet-I've been thinking about trying it out because it looks like so much fun. Thank you so much for your reply, and have a great night! 😊
We moved to Sask from the north island- know that climate very well😕but soo miss nature.. just found you and subscribed thank you so much for sharing your life. Thinking another dog, a male, would be a good idea for you
I always enjoy your videos iam a diver though iam in OZ lol thanks for your Tahini recipe do u have with Falafels . Peach is a very cute dog it’s like she was communicating with them take care Thanks 🤙
I love the sounds of the whales, so was wondering, if you had a go pro water proof case, you could hang it from a buoy with a lock that is anchored securely with an anchor? That might be a way to see your whales if your interested? Wolves and bears have been known in the past that can swim island to island, bears, deers, they might have old " Den sites" where they were born at, maybe the wolf got kicked out of it's den, and needs to find his own pad? But not around humans.
I worry about your and Peach’s safety. Are the wolves are a protected species on the island? Do you have more than an air horn to defend yourself? Please be careful, and patiently waiting for your next video. 🥰
One wolf will come in closer & howl; getting the attention of the dog & draw it to come to it & then a pack of wolves may jump the dog. Tobacco smoke 💨 I’ve heard will keep wolves at bay. ❤
What kind of underwork do you need for your boat? What will it need to take it to a dry dock? What work will preserve it best to sustain it for your future use?
for now just zinc replacement and a cleaning. it's quite a distance to haul it out (about 350km). i'll have to get that done next summer and at the same time scrape and paint the bottom. that'd keep it for a couple years.
when no one is staying there...they sell those traps that hold like a blank shot gun round and it goes off if wire it tripped ,that may keep them away?
We totally get that this is their home, and we’re all about respecting that. The wolves, bears, cougars, whales, and deer were here first, and we do our best to live alongside them without disturbing their space. It can be a little nerve-wracking when they get close, but we just adjust our lives to give them the room they need to explore and live here, in their territory, safely and comfortably. We're all about coexisting with the incredible wildlife around us.

Your dog howling like a wolf was funny and fascinating at the same time. Do you think that wolf would play with peach or it will try to attack it? just curious.
Unfortunately play is not on the wolfs mind. Usually it's one wolf that will lure the dog out and then the pack will join and they will kill the dog :(
I know coyotes try to lure domestic dogs away and then kill them. Not sure if wolves do the same. Would keep a close eye on her as they do go after dogs for food.

That was so cool when Peach howd at the wolf.
I just vacationed in Canmore Canada. Canada so beautiful.

Great update. I never would suspect wolves swimming to the island.
Bear and deer swim so wolves would make sense too 🤷♂️

Peach howls better than the wolf! The whole wolf/dog interaction reminds me of the Call of the Wild book :)
yah, i was really shocked the first time i heard her howl. and it was surreal listening to the wolf respond to her, and then her respond back!
Wow - howling wolves so close! I found it adorable hearing Peach howling back! ❤ I wonder what she was saying?

They have motion activated sprinklers you can hook a hose up to -- maybe that could help in areas they like to hang out / poop. :0)
