    RIP Harold Reid. The Statler Brothers' Bass singer has died April 24, 2020 at the age of 80 after battling Kidney Disease. He joins fellow statler Brother, Original Tenor Lew DeWitt to sing Duets above his fellow singers.

    Harold Reid, who sang bass for the Grammy-winning country group the Statler Brothers, died on Friday, April 24th, 2002 after a long battle with kidney failure. He was 80 years old...
    Between 1965 and 1990 the Staunton, Virginia group had sixty six records on the Billboard Country charts, thirty three made the Top 10 with four reaching #1, "Do You Know You Are My Sunshine" for two weeks in May 1978, "Elizabeth" for one week in March for 1984, "My Only Love" for one week in March of 1984, and "Too Much On My Heart" for one week in November of 1985...
    Founding member Lewis Calvin DeWitt passed away at the young age of 52 on August 15th, 1990 {Crohn's disease}...
    May both Mr. Reid and Mr. DeWitt R.I.P.
    * They just missing having three more #1 records when their "Flowers On The Wall" for four weeks in 1966, "Do You Remember These" for four weeks in 1972, and "Oh Baby Mine (I Get So Lonely)" for one week in 1983, all peaked at #2...

    RIP Harold Reid, you gave the Statlers their warm and tight harmonies.

    Loved the Statlers! Some of the best music ever written and sung by a very dedicated group of guys with a sense of humor. Loved the harmony. Harold Reid Rest in peace. You gave your audience years of good music and laughs.

    Classic country is the only country music. This stuff nowadays is a disgrace to us old country boys. Statler brothers was my pappaws fav. We listened to them every sunday heading to church

      Colton heibert What's the matter? Don't like city boys with fake southern accents?😂

      @ditsydaisys 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed. Modern country is missing out on so much. I will forever love the classics, to hell with puke bryan!

    • @stellamarie6499
      @stellamarie6499 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Colton heibert every generation of music has had people say that. They said it about Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline too.. they weren’t “country” Country music has always been an evolving genre and the Statlers helped shape many of today’s artists.
      I seriously doubt the Statlers would appreciate you bringing down other artists to raise them up

      yep...Johnny discovered them and they started touring with him and the Tennessee 3 back in the mid sixties....then they recorded and released their all time number 1 song, "Flowers on the Wall"....later on they performed with Johnny and June in the epic performance at Folsom Prison....their accompinament with Johnny and June on "Peace in the Valley" is classic....afterwards they often appeared on Johnny's TV show on ABC....legends!
