Wow! That was a fantastic day you both had. Paddle boarding, Island hopping, snorkeling, flying the drone, then topping it off with a cold brew & tacos. Life doesn't get much better than that. I hope the kitties are doing well. Stay safe!
Oh how I so miss sailing. My years on the water were the best of my life. There was nothing that came close to the many joys of sailing. When I was forced to return to living on land for health reasons it was like I was dying a slow and grueling death. Now as I witness this young couple starting their new adventure and adjusting to living on the water vs land it is like me reliving it all over again. It brings me such great peace. God... So many great memories that I had totally forgotten. And all the feelings and emotions you go through that let you know you are alive. And when that day comes that you say to yourself, now this is what life is all about how could I ever be happy living on land
I bet you have great stories. If you're able, as you remember your experiences, write them down, maybe one a day, or even a week (or dictate to a recorder and have someone else type them). Make a book from them, even must for yourself. I'm sure your family and friends would love to have them as a momento from you.
Oh wow! That moon at the end! That's exactly how I remember it from my family trip to the Keys when I was a girl! It was so beautiful on the water, almost magical.
We always carried a glass bottom bucket in our dinghy. It helped a lot in setting anchors around coral reefs. It was also great for non snorkeling people. I bet a big plastic or glass jar would work well too.
Cupola often served as old time "air conditioning" in the South. It is a large, roofed "air chimney" on the home's peak that let warm air escape; windows were opened slightly and Bernoulli's principle cooled the incoming air a few degrees. The larger the volume of the house, the larger the cupola needed to regulate the airflow efficiently. Large houses had cupolas accessable by stairs so that one could use the cupola's surrounding platform as a place to keep watch -- as a "widow's walk." Smart cookies, those old-timers.
100,000 subscribers woo hooooo!!! we spent a couple weeks last month in the keys, we love it there. i'm guessing you already have the marquesas (sp) and dry tortugas on your radar screen, can't leave there without seeing them, and so much more. we camped in our fifth wheel at lazy lakes rv, a big shout to them they are awesome. we enjoy your videos, keep on keepin on
We had a guy on St John USVI called Crabmon Ted. He would bring a bucket of hermit crabs to the bars and have races. The tourists loved it! Locals too!
Nikki does all the hard stuff! To say I am super jealous is an understatement. Working on my dream of sailing, y'all are living my dream. So happy for y'all, keep up the good work!
Great Flop into the water. Very graceful :-) Glad you all are having fun. Robbie's is always a nice pit stop. On a hot summer day, the shaved ice-cream by the art shops is nice. They have a flavor called tigers blood.
Just one word to describe this episode....AWESOME! I've been watching for over a year....and this one is definitely one of your best!!! I had no idea Indian Key was there. Course when you're only driving by @ 65 mph....you don't see as much. Congrats on the successful drone launch and return!! Really loved the underwater views. Except the shark... here sharky sharky... ok, just kidding. Great ending too!
We lived in Tavernier back in May! It was awesome! We visited Indian Key, too and it was so much fun! Alligator Reef is just ridiculous! Love that reef! Robbies!
Guys! That was amazing! Such beautiful scenery and your video editing is superb, as usual. One thing I have learned is Nikki drives the boat AND flies the drone! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos!
Remember when you couldn’t get an RV spot and marveled that some where even waterfront. You looked out at the anchored boats said maybe soon and now you made it happen. Amazing.
This may be an old sailors tale, but I was told to spit/rub the inside of your goggles. This was 10 years ago; can't remember how well it worked in comparison to the store bought stuff. Thank you guys for sharing your experiences!
And... now I'm hungry! Working my way through your entry into the sailing world. Congrats on making such a monumental change and being willing to dare to live your dream.
Very cool to see Indian Key from the air, thanks for launching the drone! I used to bring my snorkelers there when conditions were too rough to go to Alligator. I'm somewhat of a history buff and was always fascinated to think of what life must have been like living on that little rock in the early 1800s. Talk about frontier!
That was a fun video. One can see several big advantages for having a drone aboard a sailboat....what a great view of the surrounding area and the value for finding water hazards ahead and hidden places to explore. The heck with burning calories by using water boards at night.....a dingy rules 'cause of my luck with high winds, fog, mast light dies, etc. ;).
Thanks, completely enjoyed the segment, especially the underwater view and your tour of the deserted island. You'll find loads of places like that in the Abacos.
Great video, I remember feeding the Tarpon at a fish sandwich joint we visited outside of Key Largo. Great memories. I remember seeing a sign that said unsupervised or unruly children will be fed to the Tarpon. Awesome vibe in them there Keys. Restock the fridge and keep the outstanding videos coming. As always sending our best wishes from Boston.
Nice episode. Love the Keys. Something most tour guides down there won't mention is that many of those salvage operators would often do a little more than just "wait" for a wreck. A little bit of misdirection was occasionally employed. This made them little more than glorified pirates, really, until such salvage operations were eventually banned.
Congrats on almost tipping the 100,000 subs. Love your videos, you totally get what boating is about. Max'n and relax'n. We are just coming into our summer here in NZ, so am looking forward to a good boating season too.
I know that everyone has given you their tips on mask fogging prevention. I am a Master diver and been diving since I was 14 I am 62 now, I could write a book on the changes that have come about in the sport during my life time. Here is a fool proof solution to the fogging issue. Take some plain old Colgate tooth paste, the old fashion kind like what you parents would have use. Put some on your finger and clean the inside oh your mask really, really good. When the mask was made a film was applied at the factory and you have to get it off. Once it is clean then there is no other solution that works any better than good old spit. Spit in it, rub it around, quick rinse and dive fog free but you have to clean it first with Colgate. There is a reason why you use Colgate and that is because of the micro abrasives in it that will not scratch your mask. Have fun guys thanks for sharing.
Don Harden gees I've had my mask so long I forgot about that! You only do it once for every mask so it's not something you think of unless you sell or teach. Thanks for reminding me of that! Also: saliva, not a loogie! I've seen lots of people hork a loogie in their masks and a: super disgusting, b: doesn't have the same chemical make up that saliva has so it doesn't work as well. my 2 cents.
Omg thank you so much for admitting that you were nervous about flying the drone over water, sleeping with the anchor down, etc., etc. I wondered if I was the only one.
Waiting for the "DaDum DaDum DaDum" music while you were diving. Great to see you guys are enjoying yourselves and those hard weeks of prep seem to be paying off know. Thumbs Up and can't wait for the next video.
The extent to which any sort of structure on the sea bed can exponentially increase the volume of marine life is fascinating. Even the simplest open framework of steel tubing seems to serve despite affording a minimum of protection.
Saw you guys on "Goin' RV" the other day. You guys have set the bar pretty high as far as full-time living without a house! KUDOS! We are joining the full-time ranks in about a year!
Hi , great video , love to see the under water shots and the shots from the drone . I've just bought a sailboat which is up on the hard for the winter so it's great to see your videos as I wait patiently for the spring to come .
Good video guys. The past few videos your fun flare wasn't showing like when you were in your RV. But this one you guys are back. Can't wait tell your next one. Be safe out there.
A Coopla looks like a chicken coop on top of a roof... Although this family used it as an observation tower, it's actual purpose is to allow heat to escape from the attic... Another structure to observe ships at sea is a Widows Walk... It's a narrow cat walk built atop the ridge of a sailors house for their wives to stand and watch the sea for their husbands return... When the husbands died at sea as they often did, forlorn widows would continue to walk the cat walk watching the sea... Hence the Widows Walk... These were mostly in the New England area and usually only officers built them for their wives as they were the only sailors who could afford them... Note: I seem to recall the movie, The Ghost and Mrs Muir had a Widows Walk atop that house... Of course there is also the Light Houses...
There is something very engaging about you. I am enjoying your your journey, though I hope you will take more sailing lessons, and learn more about the mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems aboard your yacht. Life can get exceedingly Nautical aboard a boat in a vary short time. I wish y'all all the best, and enjoy your videos!
Two things: Firstly, you two have me smiling the whole time I am watching you. You are such laughs. Secondly, at 8:01 when you entered the boat, I actually reached-out to give you a hand because I thought you were going to lose your footing. There are actually more things I like / love about you two but I can't name them all here.
Wow! That was a fantastic day you both had. Paddle boarding, Island hopping, snorkeling, flying the drone, then topping it off with a cold brew & tacos. Life doesn't get much better than that. I hope the kitties are doing well. Stay safe!

what a way to go..love the lights....good you two got out for a nite....very cool.
Drone footage always looks so majestic and calm, but the mad buzzing of one in real life is anything but calm and majestic!
yea, that's why i included both clips :) Crazy right?
I am getting hooked! Better than most things on TV!
Steven Meyer I watch TH-cam more than TV
Curious if you still watch
Oh wow! That moon at the end! That's exactly how I remember it from my family trip to the Keys when I was a girl! It was so beautiful on the water, almost magical.
You two make those paddle boards look like so much fun! We enjoy your video work so much.
Luv the idea of paddling in a bright moon night. 50 years from now that'll be the things that lingers on your memory.
You guys make me smile. Stuck in bed recovering from a lupus flare, it is a delight to see the world through your eyes. Thank you for sharing here 💕
Glad we can make you smile! Hope you're back up and around soon.
Scuba AND drone in one video - double viewing pleasure!
Can hardly wait for more drone footage. Was pretty good for the first time since sailing.
Looks like a lot of fun. Now is I were only 50 years younger I may try it. Beautiful out there. Thanks.
We always carried a glass bottom bucket in our dinghy. It helped a lot in setting anchors around coral reefs. It was also great for non snorkeling people. I bet a big plastic or glass jar would work well too.
Beautiful underwater images! Thank you!
now is when your switch from rv will really pay off .. no rv parks. your channel has been taken to another level. .2 thumbs up

WHEE! 100K. Good on the both of you. A for what it's worth - liked the music. Not too loud, not too rock and not too Casey. GJ and thank you.

awesome video looks like you're having a ton of fun
Love your vacation videos .
Congratulations on 100k subscribers! I've noticed you guys haven't mentioned the milestone but it definitely is a great accomplishment.
The cupola is really popular in New England nautical towns. I've heard it more often called a "Widow's Walk"

Using a cooking torch to lightly and quickly burn the film away also works. Although there is 100% chance of not burning your mask with toothpaste.
I just use a product called "spit" and it has proven to be the best for me. Aside from ACTUAL spit, of course.
Don Harden gees I've had my mask so long I forgot about that! You only do it once for every mask so it's not something you think of unless you sell or teach. Thanks for reminding me of that!
