Who is going to try this??
RA Visuals I don’t think I can, I am using a laptop with integrated graphics lol
Yeah, I’m pretty sure this only works for rtx 20 series cards at the moment, but you can always manually overclock! Haha
great video! i just have one question. after you ran the curve scan did you dial down the core voltage dial? or did it do that on its own?
What game settings are you running to get this FPS?
and could you tell me what ur nvidia control panel settings are since those are quite important to
This is really the best way: by letting the Afterburner set the values by itself like shown in the video . Thanks a lot 👍
who's here because they're trying to hit 60fps in cyberpunk
Didn't expect that 😂
Lol ! Mix this with Digital Foundry’s optimal settings video, DLSS best performance etc
@@pipikakachu yeah, but nothing really worked for me :/
Combine all that with this vid:
th-cam.com/video/CbsIFpN6vek/w-d-xo.html
I've used both ways..
Yes! Never wanted to overclock before but I just wanna see the game with Ray tracing!
mixman2007m Thx for that, I’ll try
You have explained this better than anyone I have seen on TH-cam. Great job.
Thanks so much!!
I must have gotten a good card. I have the 2070S (bought before the shortage thankfully), and its the Aorus OC model, so +15 in the BIOS. I made no adjustments to the power delivery (cannot afford to risk burning it out), but my OC is +130 (plus the 15 stock, so really 145) in the core, and +900 in the memory. Got about 6 FPS in 4K.
Really happy with the result.
Thats awesome!
Used this to OC my 2070 super. Super solid vid and production man!
I’ve got a 2070 super too what numbers did you get?
Im trying it now on my New 2070 super. But one question can you redet your gpu to standard
jacobnsh youasking if you can reset it to stock settings?
@@veritasdel3649 yes
jacobnsh yes it’s very easy I recommend afterburner as it’s what me and friends use. Take 5 sec to oc and then turn the oc off
hey just watched your video and noticed you missed a very crucial step, after you set your sliders all the way to the rihgt you have to hit the check mark to save the settings before running the OC scanner otherwise you run your scan for your previous settings, if you notice your overvoltage is at 0% and it should be at 100% if you did this again you would see that it helps a little more than just a few frames!
I have EVGA RTX2070 Super XC Ultra. I settled on +135mhz core and +1200mhz vram. I also undervolted the gpu using ctrl+f average of -50mV. Noticeable performance improvements in VRChat.
Very nice! Glad you were able to squeak some extra performance out of it!
You didn't hit apply after setting your core voltage to 100%. It also says overvoltage 0% in your MSI Overcloking Scanner.
Good catch! It’s pretty essential😊
Honestly I’ve been doing GPU overclocking for 5 and a half years. Never once thought of sliding the core voltage slider all the way to the right. I always set it to 8-25% and I was able to get some insanely high overclocked without crashes.
That is just what they suggested in their directions to use the software. That's great that you got the results without having to do that!
mine wont even unlock......
I’m pretty new to OC and this helped loads! Thanks 😊
Thank you this tutorial helped me boost my frame rate by a lot my Power limit and Temp Limit are maxed out i also decided to max out core voltage and lastly for core clock what i found to be stable was 150 and for memory clock i used 700 and the final results after running bench mark was 53 836 my games run a lot smoother/faster thxs to this video. Keep up the great work!!!!
It's like everything I'm trying to learn about my PC setup you have a video on. Good work man, you've got something big working here. How long have you been making videos?
Appreciate it! Ive been making tech related content for about 3 years now with a couple breaks here and there.
I have found that to properly apply the auto overclock, once the scan is done, click the check to apply the overclock that was just transferred. You can then test it. If you get 90% or higher confidence, you are good to go. I found that after I scanned, if I tested immediately after, the overclock would go away on Afterburner.
TL;DR: Follow the steps in the video, once you're done scanning, click the check to apply the overclock, test to make sure you get 90% or higher (if not, reset settings and scan again and re-test till you do), then save the overclock to a profile and you're done! Then you can tinker with the memory clock (don't have to, but its up to you).
Jared Stieferman well said!!
Dope. Thanks for the tip. Gonna do this in my pny RTX 2070.
Goo deal!
Thanks so much for this, it really helped! :)
No problem at all!
Exceptional editing, great vdo.
Overclocked my MSI 2080 Super about 2 months ago but didn't really know what I was doing. Will do so again following this tutorial, keep up the awesome content!
Great to hear! Let me know how it goes!
how much fps did you gain?
alvin sluis I gained about 5 FPS in COD MW after this. Not much but I mean, pretty cool for just pressing a button haha
Over clocking imo is less about the fps increase and more about fps stability. If you can find a moderate OC speed your games will run more consistently without random drops in my experience
Totally agree! Not worth it if you’re crashing your PC all the time!
Yeah free performance is great I love downloading ram
who doesnt!?
I download cpu speed!
Great video, thanks a bunch :)
No worries!
I’m want to Oc my 2060 super for Battlefield 2042 when It comes out and this helped tremendously! Thanks
howd it work?
why don't i have the test button next to scan ? i only have scan and revert, man i hate doing these things you always can find something different from the tutorial
Same, I don’t see the test button. Not sure why
So I overclocked my RTX 2080 to full and my computer exploded. What should I do?
as much as I like playing with pc parts, I really don't like OC'ing, I'm going to try this
Do it! 💪
Thanks for the awesome guide I've watched a few over the past year but this was great and helpful as I fine Tweek and push further. Also where can I get me one of those shirts!? 👌
You're very welcome! haha I think I got this shirt at Khols!
Hey great job but you forgot one thing. If you enable “user defined fan curve” you can set what rpm your GPU fans run at depending on the GPU temp.
Obviously if you don’t care about noise (I wear headphones I can’t hear my fans) then I recommend setting case fans to extreme/high and doing a custom fan curve based of temp in MSI afterburner. It might help you get a little more out of the overclock or at a minimum will keep the card cooler!
Thanks for the video!
6:12 wish you didnt cut here I hit apply and mine doesn't change to "curve"
Same.. always some screw up.
Tom it doesn’t need to change to “curve” it all depends on what kind of config it came up with.. it’s fine if it doesn’t say “curve”
@@seriouslymason So what about if it says curve after I run the OC scanner, then I hit test and all the settings in afterburner go back to default.
@@dynodyno6970 Do the Scan, then the Test. If all is OK do the Scan again and Save without running Test. It lost the curve for me (2070 Super FE) too after the test, but works great if I skip that bit.
Dyno Dyno you have to remember to apply settings after the scan and THEN test it
what is your desktop background ? wallpaper engine?
yes!
@@RAVisuals tf you mean yes?
I can run my 2080 Super Gamerock with more than +1300MHz on the memory clock without any issues or noticeable temperature increases. That's really insane!
super insane!
Also pretty useless unless you are using it for mining :D
My left ear really enjoyed this video
Clean and simple good vid thank you
You bet!
Great feature. Used it for a 2070 and 2070 Super. Stable, and simple. You can always add some tweaks. Great start though.
@Kendall Rombouts I just ran the OC scanner in Afterburner, and then hit the "Test" button afterwards. Let that run, and saved the profile. I then overclocked the memory by + 850. It hits peaks at 1985Mhz. Mostly runs at 1935 / 1950, and hits 1985 until the power limit pushes back down a little. It's a +110Mhz curve with a +850 mem OC. I get a Direct X12 crash if I try to push it to +115Mhz. It's a Founders Edition, so you may get more.
i overclocked my 2080 super but didnt know what core voltage was my gpu pushed itself to 2.1 ghz
I have 2080 super is it worth to overclocked ?
@@emaddighriri8824 ofcourse it is
Great guide. Thank you keep it up
cheers buddy, very useful indeed.
Great guide, thank you.
You're very welcome!!
Hey i know this is an older video, but i noticed after your final test you said it started to get up to 80 degrees C. I also noticed you did not mess with your fan curve at all. I have a 2080 super and after watching a ton of videos like yours, I got mine up to +130cc and +1200mc with an adjusted fan curve (I dont know what a 2080 will do but I know it could go higher with an adjusted fan curve). I stress tested it on 3d mark and got a 98.4% success rate (3d mark says 97% and above is a successful result). I don't know if you already knew this or not, but just wanted to kinda flex a little bit LOL and get the word out to ya. I've played a ton of hours on cod, warzone, and valorant and my temps barely ever hit 73 degrees C. P.S. not everyones gpu will hit the same overclock because of quality of thermals and other things. Do not be afraid to overclock gpu's because manufacturers dumb down the performance. BUT!!! do it safely with multiple tests and increase numbers slowly!!!!!!!!!
Also I love your video and you explained things very well! Thankyou for helping me out!
What did you adjust your fan speed to? I got a 2080 super to and a 10-700k cpu.
Can you tell me your settings for the oc you made?
@@adamhas6044 sure! I have the core voltage all the way up to 100%. Power limit is all the way up to 112%. The temp limit is up to 88° but it never gets that hot. Core clock is +110MHz. Memory clock is +1300MHz. Fan speed is locked to all fans are running. At 30°C fans are running at 40%, at 50°C fans are at 70%, at 70°C fans are at 90%, and at 90°C fans are at 100%. Those are my settings. I mostly play warzone and never have issues. I did start playing vanguard and noticed Temps are a little higher so I may up the fan speed
When I click apply it doesn't show "curve" but +15 it doesn't change anything
Me too
+RA Visuals Besides whats being talked about/explained in the video which is great, though I have a question: What kind background is that on your monitor? Its flipping awesome!!🤙
Its from wallpaper engine!
@@RAVisuals Thanks man!!😎
Those it was the album art from a death grip on yesterday
I have a intel i7, 16gb ram, rtx 2070 super, hard drive- I have 5tbs
You forgot to click apply after moving the core voltage slider, the OC Scanner didn’t take it into account. The Overvoltage was 0% in the OC scanner settings
motox20 yeah, after looking at this I realized I didn’t hit the button in the video but I must have when I actually did the overclock, haha so it did still overclock my card.
@@RAVisuals I forgot to say thanks for this, I'm confident in OC'ing but this does make it much easier. Tried doing this last night but I think I had a driver conflict, benchmark programs would just get an error before starting, and when I tried opening CPUID or GPU-Z(and any other program) they would not respond. I tried restarting my PC and the monitor, keyboard and mouse would turn off but my fans and LED's would stay running...
Just ran the OC scanner now after doing a driver cleaning and it got my 2070 super a +195 MHz with 90% confidence. Just gotta get the Memory OC'd now and I'm gonna test it out in some games.
motox20 hey man, thanks for the info. And thanks for this tutorial RA Visuals. Should I put the core voltage back to 0% after doing a scan and test?
Hi a few years later. Afterburner hasn't been paid due to difficulties associated with the Ukraine war and accompanying sanctions against Russia (believe the dude is a Russian or lives in Ukraine, any can't be paid for fear of running foul of sanctions) will this auto overclock still work? What about on 40×× cards? Thanks
Hi RA visuals, I know this video is a bit old now but was using your guide and have a few questions.
Firstly I'm new to PC in terms of overclocking and all. I understand what it does just not sure how to do it.
So I noticed you used MSI afterburner, is this all I need or do I need 3dmark as well? - No luck downloading off steam it just wont, even after a restart.
I used the same settings as you when running OC and I can see what its doing by the changing the coreclock and measuring what this system can push safely.
So do I need to run a bench mark or can I just let MSI afterburner run a stable OC and work with that?
Mail afterburner and 3D mark gets downloaded off of a website.
This method dont show what parameter will affect the fps and temperature. This is a trial and error. If you want to see what parameter is significant for fps and temperature and other output response, you will need to do design of experiment.
thx,
One question which i couldn't find on msi guide.
Do you leave the sliders at max when you've set it to curve?
And my (more recent version of)OC scanner also tested the memory oc, pinned it at +200
Just wondering what the performance upgrade would be from a GTX 1070 8gb (no Ti) to either a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super WINDFORCE OC 3x 8G or a
PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Red Devil 8GB GDDR6 HDMI/3xDP Video Card please??? I can't seem to figure out whether the upgrade would be worth it.
Upgrading from a 1070 to a 2070super is absolutely worth it. I upgraded from a 1070 to a 2080 (basically the same as a 2070super) and I see gains in every area that are substantial.
@@RAVisuals Thanks I appreciate the reply :-)
This is awesome. I am just trying to play CP2077 on high setting w/ high raytracing. I know that is a bit much to ask, but I really believe my 2070S can do it @1440p. (Aiming for 30FPS DLSS Balanced)
good luck! hahaha its so tough to run!
@@RAVisuals Yeah it is a freaking nightmare. I thought I was aiming a little too high for it considering it was supposed to be released much earlier but man, I was really shocked by how taxing it is on the CPU/GPU.
I have an RTX 2070, and when I did the tests for the curve clock and pressed "apply" it didn't replace the numbers with "Curve" like yours.
You might just have to run it again. It did that to me on my first try too.
I noticed that your vore voltage dropped down to 0 after you runned the tests... Is it meant to do that or are you supposed to have it at max always?
It just did while I was recording. I redid it and the voltage was back to max
I followed every step you did i have msi 2070 super trio and it says Results are considered unstable any thoughts ? its also 99% and completed i cant test it only Revert and Scan
and something else when i start warzone afterburner restarts and lowers my memory clock
your card may already be overclocked to its limit then! Have you tried backing off the sliders a bit an re running?
@@RAVisuals thanks for the reply i found the problem
i had dragon center game mode on thats why
Where are you finding these instructions you're reading from? I couldn't find a "guide" per se. All I could find was the short video on the Afterburner download page, and it doesn't say anything about increasing Core Voltage, Power Limit, and Temp Limit. The video says to only click the Core Clock icon.
the site and the video both have a guide on how to use the feature!
My man. You linked like 100 things but didn't link MSI After Burner or the guide you were reading from.
its right on the front page of the afterburner website, lol my bad.
Using this on my 2070 super, hopefully I can squeeze out a bit more from my card, it's struggling to keep up with starfield on my 1440p 75hz monitor, can't get anywhere close to 75fps average.
You forgot to press the check icon to save the settingd when you did +100 core voltage... so.. you did the auto overlocking wrong.
I did this. I just forgot to include it in the video
I’m running a GIGABYTE 2070 super 8GB WINDFORCE OC 3X and a 650w bronze PSU will MSI afterburner work with this GPU and PSU i’d like to follow this guide because I’m new to OC and the way you put it the free boosting seems pretty simple.
Yes! This will work with your card for sure!
You didn’t run the scan with your core voltage at 100% wouldn’t this mess with other people as you guided them to change it to 100 percent but you didn’t apply your core voltage settings before scanning?
I actually did. I just didn’t show it in the video as I stopped the recording when I realized it. I had a comment pinned telling everyone this but I think it got buried as this is a older video now
Let's see if this helps my with Cyberpunk 🤞🏽
lol it might!!
Esactly why I'm here 😂.
My "core clock" doesn't change to "curve." It's still at +0. I'm using an RTX 2080. After scanning it reads "core clock +105."
You have to press the "apply" button after overclocking. I may have left that little detail out
Disregard last. It wasn't restarting.
Hello, I have Rtx 2070 FE,
I did the scan and everything with afterburner.
Juste asking if +500 on memory clock will damage the vram cause of the heat ?
Is it safe to get that high ?
In testing never pass over 76 degree and in gaming never go above 70 degree.
Couldn’t I have better oc if I reduce the memory clock ?
Thx for helping ?
Every time you overclock you assume some risk with your components. Its stressing them more so things can happen. I personally haven't had issues though
mine said “ test results are unstable “ on overclock scanner ?
you might have to tone down the overclock
Glad I just stuck to the 2070 Super and didn't go for the 2080, as mine hits 12863 combined in that score. But with the 30 series coming soon, I still lose. Lol
Manually tuning the core is better. The voltage thing doesn't do jack shit btw.
Do you have to keep this program running to make it work?
Edit: nvm I didn’t see the little startup windows button until after I made this 😂
I just did mine but without touching the memory...and sad to say but on the Heaven benchmark test it actually dropped in FPS and score. Im running the Aorus RTX 2070 Extreme and the clock that came stock was FPS 51, Score 1293. But the run I did after the OC though MSI actually was FPS 49, Score 1290.
Question from rookie: does this benefit when playing sports games like madden or NBA 2k?
it can always help frame rates a little bit.
How far up you think I can go up with my mem with this card ? I’m running it at 300 and it’s working nice but I feel like that’s too high no?
Thanks.. I am using it now. I made 2 profiles.. 1.) way under clock for everyday use (browsing..) 2.) Overclocked per your video.. Cheers . Do you know how to make one default at startup?
what resulotion did you use on kombustor or like what settings and boxes did you check in when you runned the stress test?
I believe I ran at what my native screen runs at. 2560x1440
I have a RTX SUper 2080 and mine says "Average overclock is 4MHz" ay lmao.
Lol. My 2070 super showed 79mhz but manually I set it to 125 and it worked fine. So.... Not sure
You funny guys!
Got my 2070 super water cooled got to 160mhz and as for clock speed 400
@@thegrimreaper4517 It prioritises stability over performance so after it finds a good speed it will knock it down a little. You can usually add between 25-75 to the result it gives you and still have a smooth experience.
@@shutomasi makes sense. as of now, i have just left it as is with the factory clock. Will use the overclock when really required. Waiting for Zen 3
I have an rtx 2060 super, ryzen 5 3600 and Corsair 16gb ddr4 3200hz and I'm only getting around 100 fps on low in warzone at 1440p with dips to 90. How are you getting such high fps ???
Google this: "best settings for cod modern warfare" It'll get your settings straight.
You should have wayyyy higher on low
As a complete noob when it comes to Hardware or PC in general, can someone tell me if Overclocking a GPU will reduce it's life span? I bought a 2070 Super and It says 1 click OC in the box (I don't know if that changes anything). I got the overclocking right, everything working 100% fine, got around 10 FPS more. But I'm worried that overclocking will eventually break it. I made research online and people say that the only concern I should have is with the GPU's temperature. I get around 60ºC when playing with the settings full maxed out. (Call of Duty is one example) So yeah... Should I just not OC or are there really no problems?
nah man you seem fine atm
Once I could do it without a problem, then after some months I had to uninstall and then reinstall AfterBurner and now it says "results are considered unstable" so I cant procede with the overclock, someones knows why?
my memory clock got automatically set to +200 we have exact same graphics card. any idea why it did that?
hey, i followed all the same steps you did and after the scan + test i click apply but the core clock stays at 0 and doesn't show ''curve'' like you
sometimes you actually have to do it again or it wont take affect
I am having the same issue and have tried 3 times. I have the MSI Venus OC 2070 super
What resolution did you run call of duty at after the OC? The gains will be more noticeable at 1440p or 4k, if its 1080p then your cpu is more of a bottleneck.
It depends what fps you are initially. Yes if you are below 100 fps its more noticable. If you are already over 150 fps its pretty much not noticable. And its not automatically bottlenecked by CPU at 1080p unless u got a shit CPU, you will most likely hit an engine fps cap
I play at 1440p
You did something wrong or its a bug. At the scanning process it should say "Overvoltage 100%" and not 0%.
Saw yer I think it reset when I was filming it but it definitely was set to 100% when I tested the games
You didnt apply so the scann didn notice
@Saw yer hey should I put it back to 0% after the scan and test?
Bro, I just upgraded to an RTX 3060ti. Does this work for 30 series as well?
I believe so!
So I am playing 95% of my time on my Series X but there are few games that I am playing on my pc as well as on my Series X such as newest CoDs, BF and some other games. Will I see some improvement if I change my CPU from 3600 to 3700X? It cos so little in my country. :D
What is the name of the program he use's while playing to track all of that info in the top left?
Run the scanner and after 1min says scan cancelled, tried several times, any idea why
Is it risky or safe to OC a 2080 Ti? and is it better to do it through OC Scanner or manually running benchmarks and stuff? last question does it kill the warranty on the card and reduce its lifespan?
It would be totally fine to OC one. You always run the risk of shortening its life when overclocking anything unfortunately
I don’t understand, I followed this (2080 Super) to a T and while I got slightly higher numbers in MSI afterburner and Kombuster my frames in Warzone went from 130 to 34! Completely unplayable. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thank you :)
My system always fails to start when I click on the OC scanner, any ideas? THanks
Should I leave the Core Voltage at max? Because I see in the video it came back to normal after the OC Scanned and Tested.
Did you get your answer?? I'd like to know as well.

@@rickychopra1409 dang, better then mine 😂 the 3rd time in went to 150 then 130
@@rickychopra1409 I lowered it bc my pc was getting hotter, I’m normally at 30c and it reached 60 to 70c
The TOP OC voltage wont open up for me???
When I click on Apply after the OC was tested, the Core Clock just stays at 0 instead of the "Curve" applying. Any Help?
you may have to do it another time to get it to apply
@@RAVisuals I did it 6 times, sadly nothing changed. Guess I'll just not Overclock.
same problem
Is my pc supposed to sound like a plane?
haha, they can really ramp up when overclocked!
where is the guide
on evga's website!
ur volts went back to zero after u hit apply so do i leave my volts at zero or +100
Either is fine. There's a hard limit set by NVIDIA. It won't allow too much voltage. I just move voltage and temps all the way back up. It won't hurt anything.
@@TheSmileyTek Thanks man, you really helped me
You didn't even slide voltage to 110% before running the test and scan to apply the curve -_-
This is a bit old, I might not get a reply but after I ran the test it never turned down my core voltage % do I turn that back to 0%? Also I have a 2070s and my MHz is 1200 more, does that mean everything else should be higher?
My core voltage did not unlock after doing the literal first step
Anyone pls help
I have a 2060 super will this work by putting the core voltage to 100 aswell?
me too, somebody pls let me know
@@cosmooooooo same
Do you need to use the power limit and temp. limit sliders? If so then I sadly can’t overclock. I use an rtx 2060 so I have no idea why this is happening
