Been using the D850 for over one year now, bought it used in pristine condition at a great price. I use it with the battery grip as I use it for bird/wildlife photography. The camera is fantastic.

Having recently upgraded to the D850 I have to agree with this video. I was sitting on the fence to see what the second generation of Nikon Z cameras would offer and if they were finally going to offer the features I want and fast Pro lenses. After looking at the Z7 II and the lens offerings I decided to stick with DSLRs for now and bought the D850 even though the Z7 II is a good upgrade and the lenses are looking good too (albeit very expensive). There's a lot of buzz about mirrorless, mostly to generate sales in my opinion, and I do think that this is the way things are going but I don't think the technology has arrived yet. The weight of a pro DSLR with battery grip and Pro lenses is considerable I have to admit and video is much better on mirrorless. As for weight the D850 is 310g heavier than the Z7 II. Quite a bit lighter but when you stick pro lenses on it and a battery pack to keep its power hungry electronics working there's not a huge gain. With the DSLR there's a massive range of F mount lenses that you can pick up at discounted prices, used and from third party manufacturers that make the DSLR still a very attractive camera. Yes I know there's an adaptor to mount old lens on the new system and that's great. Maybe I'll do that one day. Not sure if my old manual focus lens can be metered on it; something I'll have to look into I guess.
I was thinking to upgrade to Z7II recently but like you I think the price of the new lenses is to high and I am waiting for Tamron and Sigma to release some new lenses. Thank you for watching!
I've been shooting mainly studio and glamour with my D850 since it first came out. Throughout, it has performed flawlessly. I never use video so it's shortcoming in that respect is irrelevant to me. I love this camera and have long since recovered from it's initial purchase price.
I was really impressed with this camera but was in a dilemma to buy it in 2020 thinking if it was worth it. Your video has brought back the confidence to assuredly buy this among the sea of mirrorless cameras available now.

Hi Andrei! Brilliant shots! I have a D850, but I hardly manage to take such a nice shots with it. Looking at the gear ist you have, I am suprised though: you hardly seem to use Nikon glass, except the 50mm. I know that Tamron makes recently better & cheaper glass for DSLRs, than Nikon who completely shifted focus to ML glass. Anyways, keep shooting and sharing please.
Hello, thank you, I use Tamron glass because they make good quality lenses for les money, I was very disappointed with some expensive Nikon lenses in the past so I switched, now Tamron and Sigma make amazing lenses at good prices! The new Z lineup of lenses looks good but still some are over priced!
Thank you, for events, outside portraits and sports I would get the d780 because it has eye detect and other mirrorless features in live view for landscape, architecture and studio work I would get the d850!
My wife and I have the following cameras between us D500,D610,D7100. We use all of them but I would really like to get a D850 now that they are more affordable. But what to sell ?
Yes. I thought you might say that. I absolutely love the D500. But the wife prefers having a built in flash. In fact she never wants to use the D500. And so very reluctantly I think I am going to sell the D500 and keep the other two. The D7100 is not worth a great deal. The D610 is the same camera but FX. The vertical battery grip we have fits both camera. The D500 will sell for more on its own than the other two. Once I have a D850 I can’t see the D500 getting a lot of use. But man....I love that camera 😭

@@AndreiDimaReviews Thanks for your comment. It's a difficult choice because a X-T4 with a battery grip is same price as a D850 in Germany. Because I'm not fully happy with the AF performance of the XT2 for fast action like birds, I was thinking to sell the 100-400 and add a 200-500 to the D850. I think the best option is the rent at least the D850 to see if I want to go 'back' to a DSLR when using mirrorless for a few years. Thanks
@@Tilburger72 Renting and testing is a great idea, it could be hard to go back to a DSLR, the price on Z7 is going down because of the Z7 MKII and it has animal eye focus, in my opinion the autofocus on the D850 is a hair better than the X-T4, hope this helps, tell me what you think after renting the D850!
Man!! you pix, timelapse and videos from the d850 really pop!! I don't use lightroom. Can the presets be used in darktable or converted to something compatible with Darktable
Thank you, they don't work with Darktable and unfortunately there is now way to convert them, I will try Darktable and see if I can reproduce them in the next months!

I play a puzzle game on my phone and i think the app developer has used a lot of your pictures here as puzzles in the game. i recognized many pictures here as puzzles i have completed.

Thank you, the XT4 sensor produces very sharp and detailed photos if you have a good lens, it is not as sharp as the d850 because of the difference in megapixels 26 versus 45 but the XT4 produces more detailed photos then a Z6 if you are pixel peeping. The color is great on both cameras, I like the Fuji a bit more. The XT4 has great dynamic range but the d850 is better. In terms of low light the d850 is better but not by much, the noise of the XT4 is very easy to clean in post.

I've been thinking about getting the D850 for quite a while now, however there is one thing that makes me hesitate: How does the D850's performance in low light compare to DSLRs with a lower resolution (say the D780 or D5) especially concerning noise with higher ISO? What is your opinion on that? I mean, it obviously can't be as good, but is there a really notable difference or is it rather something only being noticed by a "trained eye"? I'd be glad hearing from you! David
Hey David, In my opinion the difference is very small and if you have good lenses to match the 45mpx sensor of the D850 you will get a lot more detail in your photos at high ISO after denoising the photos in post! You can find a comparison here: photographylife.com/reviews/nikon-d850/7

Great photos 😊 I recently Got this camera for 1500$ mint Like new from na older guy. Less than 10k clicks. It is just a Great DSLR. It rarely misses the shoot. Birds in flight or macro. It does the same job Like my Z8 except video od course, wich questions me do you really need a mirrorless 😅
Hi Andre, it's funny I follow your Fujifilm videos as well but you probably don't know this but I also have a Nikon D850 and I transitioned from the Nikon to the Fuji but I have kept my D8 50 because it is still such a brilliant camera, and I have many uses for it, especially sports and wildlife which I just fine with the Fuji doesn't quite work like I wanted it to but that's okay. I didn't buy the Fuji for that reason I will not sell the D8 50 I'm not interested in the Z line of cameras whatsoever. I think they are overpriced and frankly, not much better than the D850
Hi! I think the D850 is the best DSLR ever made and can still keep up with the new Z lineup but not for video. I am sad I sold mine but I needed the money, the good thing is that it is in good hands.
It is 4k at 24fps, shutter speed at 50, the lens was at f2.8, I do not remember the ISO (I think it was between 800 and 1600) and I adjusted the highlights and blacks in post.

Indian accent? 🙂Maybe it is my deviated septum. The d750 is still a great camera for photos, it was the low light king for many years and still beats the Canons that came out this year at dynamic range, at this price it is worth every penny!
You say it is built like a tank. Have you tried to drop it to the floor? I did that with my D800, and it broke like a MF. My D850 do not feel more robust then the D800. The older semi pro/pro cameras, had magnesium housing, they WERE built like a tank.
@@AndreiDimaReviews I know (I broke a D800). But it is just a thin shell, and it is easily broken. These new Dxxx models are NOT built like a tank to save weight and I imagine, because of their application. Studio, red carpet, nature. If you are going into war, you take with you a Dx model.

Yes, I did drop it a couple of times, the top, rear and bottom covers, as well as the inside body structure, are made of magnesium alloy!
@@AndreiDimaReviews I know (I broke a D800). But it is just a thin shell, and it is easily broken. These new Dxxx models are NOT built like a tank to save weight and I imagine, because of their application. Studio, red carpet, nature. If you are going into war, you take with you a Dx model.
