The CIS now had no strategic mobility or capacity to interdict the Republic from attacking wherever and whenever they chose. The situation is similar to that of Imperial Japan in 1944 - Allied forces could attack anything they chose and stop the Japanese from doing much of anything on a large scale. At this point it's basically impossible for the CIS to win - however, the possibility of inflicting enough damage to bring the Republic to the negotiating table and salvage something from the mess remains.

Even assuming Sidious wasn’t pulling strings, I think the CIS was basically doomed at that point. With the vast majority of their fleet gone, I don’t think they could even really make a real push for a negotiated peace with the Republic acknowledging the Confederacy’s sovereignty. Before the battle, I think they could have made a real push by basically setting up an Iron Wall between themselves and the Republic with the Separatist Navy, forcing the Senate to recognize their independence. But afterwards, with the bulk of their navy destroyed, nothing really stops the Republic Navy from pushing in and just forcing their unconditional surrender and reinstatement to the Republic

🤔 . . . The most fatal flaw of the CIS was primarily the Quality of their Droids. I honestly don’t know how much the CIS lost over the Battle of Coruscant, but if the playing field has been drastically shifted to 1:1 soldiering odds, the GRA had a distinct advantage over the CIS. Even if General Grievous launched a counter offensive, he’d risk spreading his forces too thin. Furthermore, Aside from Nute Gunray being the 3rd & final leader of the CIS, because the CIS was more focused on galactic anarchy, the chances that any world coming to the aid of another is next to non-existent; why aid your sworn enemies that you could’ve exterminated if it wasn’t for the Old Republic? Thus, just like the Droid Control ship in _Phantom Menace, The_ , with no central figure, its a matter of conquering ‘abandoned’ worlds & such…
